Lol, I know what you mean. I remember so many times I failed this level as Doc Ock scared the hell out of me. Surprisingly, I was extremely nervous when recording this chase last year.
Just watching the walkthrough of this makes me want to just buy a fucking n64 again and get this game again and play it. this video alone brought back SO MANY childhood memories ;__;
I remember that feeling simply running away from him. I just love how relentlessly possessed Carnage is, he's not smart but he's so possessed by his own hatred that he simply doesn't stop. A true badass.
I think these are the reasons why Monster Ock scared the crap out of us as kids: 1. The level in itself had a similar concept as to what modern survival horror games like Amnesia or Outlast have: You're being chased by something unstoppable in a poorly lit environment and getting caught means you get yourself killed. Back when I was 9 and saw that game-over-scene of this level where Monster Ock shreds you really creeped me out and funnily enough, I felt sorry for Spidey in that scene 2. The Carnage symbiote, being red in color also adds to the horror aspect because it looks like blood. The thought that you're being chased by something that you think is "covered in blood" is unsettling. 3. The screams of "WHERE ARE YOU BOY?!! DIEEE!! Gotta give props to the voice actor and those who mixed the audio to make it sound in-human. It isn't some generic dinosaur-like roar or your typical gruffy tough guy voice like Venom's but rather a disturbing demonic voice that you've never heard before. This may be just a "MEH!" to someone who's an avid player of horror games and also to us adults now. But to someone who's never played into that genre, especially us little kids who were just getting into gaming back then, it becomes more disturbing. This is why Carnage isn't as scary as Monster Ock, because he sounded way too clownish
Pierre Isaac. When I recorded this, it still had me on the edge of my seat. This chase is just horrifying. I know they could make it amazing if they redid this on the PS4 and Xbox One.
Ive played every FromSoft game and not even one of them came close to this as far as pure terror, difficulty, and retries. I think this took me 2 months as a kid

"AaaaaYYYYGHHH hryGHHh DIEEEEEE!!!!!" That used make bust up as a kid, the issue I had was I had to play with the TV turned down, so I couldn't hear the zip line up part. :3
I always though he was saying "WWHHHERE ARREE YOU BOOOYYY? DIIIEEEEEEE!" and how weird it actually kinda sounded since spidey was...like...right in front of him. So I had no idea what he was saying because of that nightmarishly distorted voice that still frightens me to this day. My god I would not have the guts to live if I saw that in real life with that same nightmarish voice....chasing me...I would just shoot myself because mt god that is the scariest thing I've ever seen.
I feel like the reason Otto is just banging his head on the bars in shame is just because they're just sitting there playing cards and doing nothing in a normal prison cell together with barely any room. Rhino can just punch the bars and break out but all he's doing is 5:49.

After Spiderman 2 on PS5 I love that I was introduced to PS1 Venom right after being a giant goofy guy. And Monster Doc Ock is fucking horrifying. So sad that concept never made a return
"Hey, wait! So, I'm a rhino, you're a scorpion..and he's an octopus..then,what's a mysterio???" *sits on the bench and innocent guy launches onto the roof* -Rhino 2000
innocent my ass. he orchestrated bank robbery, harmed civilians and had a bomb.
Carnage scares the absolute shit out of me. Watching this video made it more worse as the way he says "die" and the noises at 0:27. Not to mention the way he brutal kills you once he chases you.
Its fun how im petrified of Carnage yet im a huge fan of The Joker who was villian that inspired the creation of Carnage.
+Nayem Rahman You think Carnage is bad? What about the Carnage Symbiote fused with Doc Ock? Spiderman's all like:
th-cam.com/video/5FjWe31S_0g/w-d-xo.html
+MetroidJunkie2007 Hilarious dude!
+MetroidJunkie2007 AHAHAHAHAHAHA XD
Brutally killing spiderman? like what? No hard feelings just curious
+halo34jess117 Unfortunately, the player who is playing this part of the game didnt fail. So what i meant was if you played this part of the game (where symbiote Doc Ock chases you) once he catches you. He kills by constantly stabbing you with his metal tenticals. What i meant by "its brutal" is that i cant ever imagine Doc Ock himself ever killing spiderman like that.
This part was the most terrifying thing I ever played as a kid. The combination of fear and adrenaline that I felt was just out of the roof. What a nostalgia
That's some Resident Evil level shit there.
+Neoshenlong Lol haha
+Neoshenlong More like a Metroid final stage. All that was missing was Ridley's theme playing in the background.
Neoshenlong Archivo 2008 - 2011
Resident Evil wishes it was this frightening.
I busted up laughing at the poster on the wall behind mysterio xD
Japheth19 lul
Lmfao I never noticed that when I was a kid.
This isn’t a horror game by the way but is still definitely one of the most terrifying things I’ve seen particularly one that doesn’t have blood or gore in it
This part scared the ever loving shit out of me as a child.
That pretty much speaks for everybody who played this game at a young age.
This was literally the scariest moment of my childhood
Well, I wouldn't say the single scariest moment for me but this was definitely one of them. Resident Evil The Directors Cut had me in pure fear.
***** haha Im pretty sure that would have scared me, had I played it. I didnt get into resident evil till like i was 12.
Same here lol when i first did this level i was scared trying to out run it and kept messing up nd dying til i got it and beat it lol
good times, good times XD
Why did this scare people? Was it because of the way carnage looked or was it just the chase part of the game?
am I the only one concerned by the fact that they are keeping super villains in normal cells?
In X-Men there is a collar that can surpress mutant power. Maybe they use something like that.
This prison is more secure than Arkham Asylum where ppl CONSTANTLY escape.
And with all their costumes still lol. What's stopping rhino from busting out right now?
@@FingerSpazm Well if I recall, Scorpion and Rhino can't get out of those suits, because it's pretty much their body now.
Plus they put 5 prisoners in a single cell with 2 beds lmao
The game that made me love Venom
Blake Jones Agreed. Now if we can just get a good movie with Venom as the star.
Actually, there is.
Same here. loved him ever since

yeah venom ahahaha
Are we just gonna ignore that Cletus Cassidy is dead
I just now realized that Spidey left Cletus to die. The dude die sleeping while being burn alive.
@@mediatorraptor3349 it seems you guys didn't know that Cletus Kasidy was a serial killer in the comic. So i think he deserves it.
@@Archvil1 I knew he was a serial killer, but it kinda dark for a kids video game for him to die like that. At least they made us forget about him in Monster Ock boss battle.
@@mediatorraptor3349 if you play Spider-Man 2 Enter Electro and lost to The Lizard in boss stage, Spider-Man was dead. He was on the front page of Daily Bugle as "one of The Lizard's casualties"
It's been more than ten years and I just realized about that
Took me 20 years to finally see this game's ending. The memories. I can die in peace now.
Those old good times when the most important thing in a game wasn't the graphics or story , just have fun with one
Video games would have quickly died out without a story. Story makes them more fun, And story mode was all this game was about....
Yeah , but , I didn't mean the story in a game is pointless , only how the story did not take much into account us when we were kids , but the story is what attract us like Silent hill , Dark souls or other games , just sayin
not a good point since back then this game had a good story and graphics for its time.
The 80's and 90's.
The gameplay is the most important thing for me back then, next is the graphics, then the storyline.
Memories man those clenched hands though
Clenched hands, heart pumping - racing, fear levels. . high.
The Joker yöiü
Yeah, they fixed it in Spider-Man 2 luckily. ^ ^

I remember when i was 5 years old then I asked to my dad to play the final chase for me cuz i was too scared and he couldn't do it either, but a month later i said to myself "I have to try it" and i passed it the first time i tried it ....
Those were the good ol' times

Imagine playing cards with Daredevil.
And still losing against him.
Look who's talking, Daredevil. You've been looking at my cards all night!
He probable just draws his random cards and decides whether to play or fold simply by smelling who's bluffing.
I remember the moment I defeated Carnage.
"Well I guess that's it. Finally I've reached the...

OH MY FUCKING GOD WHAT IS IT???
RUN JESUS FUCKING CHRIST OH GOD OH LORD OH GOD OH LORD CAN YOU RUN FASTER??? FUCKING RUUUUUN!!! AAA!!!"

Those noises reappeared in my head every time I remembered this game. I guess it was too much for a 7 year boy.
I had the exact same experience.
Same lol. I never completed the game. Thank God for Eel Nats 🙌🏽 which allowed me to see the ending anyway lol

this game is different than the other spiderman games
I always loved how spidey broke the fourth wall I need to press r1 to zipline up there that was so helpful as a child when I did this level
Only the ps1 version. He didnt say it in my pc version at least
I can't remember if it was in the original n64 version. It might have been
This last level... oh god. I always hated it. One thing comes to mind and it's to RUN!!!!
Same here. Never enjoyed the level but it definitely gets the nerves going.

It also tells you that you need to move fast because if you mess up even the slightest, you're dead. A reason why I love the PS1 Spider-Man game. Good times.
Can't disagree there. That's the main reason I uploaded this game which was to bring back those good memories . Overall, I'm glad everybody's enjoying the videos. By the way, did you ever play Spider-Man 2|; Enter Electro on the PS1? I've been looking for that game as I've always wanted to play it and never even knew a sequel was made.

This is the most terrifying game experience from my childhood that I can think of. Running from Carnage/Doc Oc got my heart racing more than anything.
i don't think I finished this level for like a year as a kid. It gave me nightmares. Every time i tried this level, I literally couldn't sleep that night. Shit, why has Activision treated this license so poorly post 2005?
Seriously, this level would be a rude shock for anyone who tried to cheese their way through the game with cheat codes. Damn, Activision really had vision at that time right?
Anirudh Viswanathan i want them to remaster this beauty of a spiderman game
Several years for me. It scared me too bad.
Yup. I tried the invulnerability suit too. You know what doesn't give a shit about your cute Invulnerability suit? SCRIPTED HORRIFIC VIOLENT DEATHS that's who
You know when you see something you haven't seen or thought about in like 15 years and then nostalgia just punches you right in the face
I know exactly what you mean and it's a joyful moment.
There’s a lot of things that’s so scary about this mission
1. Monster Ock himself
2. Monster Ock Icon
3. The sound he makes
4. Him chasing you until you escape
5. The fact you in a dark claustrophobic vent
6. The way he stabs you when getting caught
7. He never slows down and if you far away from him he will catch up easily.
8. It takes like 3-4 minutes to escape from a place that’s about to blow up
...how the hell is Daredevil playing cards??

*Mysterio*: (scoffs) It's not my fault! Doc Ock's plan was horrible! Everyone knows you can't control the Symbiotes!
*Rhino*: Hey, wait! If I'm a Rhino, you're a Scorpion, and he's an Octopus... what's a Mysterio? (Rhino sits on the bench, forcing a Bank Thug to the ceiling)

Daredevil: .....
As scary as Monster Ock was, I find it even more scary that Spidey just leaves Cassidy to die and never mentions it.
Spidey might spare criminals, but if he stuck around to carry Cassidy on his back he would have definitely been killed by Octopus Carnage.
@@GyaruRespecter regardless I still find it proper out of character. I mean, this is Spider-Man right? He’s gone to absurd lengths to keep his enemies alive out of respect for their humanity even before this game came out. Just found it super odd.
I have literally never noticed that until I just read your comment. Now I can't stop thinking about it.
@@hassangaita294 Cassidy is a serial killer
I thought I was the only wondering about that. Did Kasady just... die? Like that?
When your far away from it, it catches up to you very easily.
Donte williams That's how most games are. When you stray too far away from the computer, they can instantly catch up to you to keep the tension going. This type of thing hap[pens in racing games a lot.
I like how Spidey is so scared he breaks the forth wall just to tell the player “ Press R1 to get us out of here, don’t mess up!”
This last boss was basically my childhood. Took me forever to beat it bad when I did I can still remember my heart pumping a million miles per hour
Lol, I know what you mean. I remember so many times I failed this level as Doc Ock scared the hell out of me. Surprisingly, I was extremely nervous when recording this chase last year.
ME TOO :D
Just watching the walkthrough of this makes me want to just buy a fucking n64 again and get this game again and play it. this video alone brought back SO MANY childhood memories ;__;
I remember that feeling simply running away from him. I just love how relentlessly possessed Carnage is, he's not smart but he's so possessed by his own hatred that he simply doesn't stop. A true badass.
"Who's your daddy doc ock" Rhino, 2000
I think these are the reasons why Monster Ock scared the crap out of us
as kids:
1. The level in itself had a similar concept as to what modern survival
horror games like Amnesia or Outlast have: You're being chased by
something unstoppable in a poorly lit environment and getting caught
means you get yourself killed. Back when I was 9 and saw that
game-over-scene of this level where Monster Ock shreds you really
creeped me out and funnily enough, I felt sorry for Spidey in that scene
2. The Carnage symbiote, being red in color also adds to the horror
aspect because it looks like blood. The thought that you're being chased
by something that you think is "covered in blood" is unsettling.
3. The screams of "WHERE ARE YOU BOY?!! DIEEE!! Gotta give props to the
voice actor and those who mixed the audio to make it sound in-human. It
isn't some generic dinosaur-like roar or your typical gruffy tough guy
voice like Venom's but rather a disturbing demonic voice that you've
never heard before. This may be just a "MEH!" to someone who's an avid
player of horror games and also to us adults now. But to someone who's
never played into that genre, especially us little kids who were just
getting into gaming back then, it becomes more disturbing. This is why
Carnage isn't as scary as Monster Ock, because he sounded way too
clownish
Man this part of the game always use to have at the edge of my chair as a kid.
Pierre Isaac. When I recorded this, it still had me on the edge of my seat. This chase is just horrifying. I know they could make it amazing if they redid this on the PS4 and Xbox One.
They should remake this, same characters, same music, same levels and everything just with some top of the line graphics.
Seán Austin Lewis ...and voice acting? Nah!
Fuck that. I don’t think I can handle carnage octopus with any better graphics. He’s freaky enough as is.
BigJ210 I agree bro any better graphics would give me nightmares for sure lmao
Man of Steel1931, Monster Ock everybody. Still scarier than Insidious movies.
Seán Austin Lewis I think i’s like this game with shattered dimensions graphics.
Ive played every FromSoft game and not even one of them came close to this as far as pure terror, difficulty, and retries. I think this took me 2 months as a kid
Monster Ock is one of the most corrupt fucking things in existence, and that is why it terrified me as a child
DJdude250 True and it's still terrifying to look at as an adult with horrifying voice.
Damn, i remember the cheat codes of this game is "AuntMay" and "EELNATS" i just realized, that eel nats is STAN LEE 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
AUNTMAY is cheat code in Spiderman Enter Electro, a sequel of this game
Oh snaps never put those together!
This chase scene needs a remake I can image how incredibly horrifying it would be
This was a funny and great ending lol the poly graphics make it even better
this was my nightmare fuel as a kid
This level is still my number 1 Running/Cardio motivation for dayss 😭
"AaaaaYYYYGHHH hryGHHh DIEEEEEE!!!!!" That used make bust up as a kid, the issue I had was I had to play with the TV turned down, so I couldn't hear the zip line up part. :3

"DIIIIIIIE" *looks menacing*
*ignoring the new enemy* "Oh, this place is going to blow! I got to get out of here!" *casually runs under the nightmare*
Spidey has balls of steel. That's for sure
PTSD the level. Monster Ock is straight out an eldritch horror
This shit gave me PTSD as a child, I swear.
Lol haha... I don't blame you as this chase will always be a nightmare to play.
My god I would not have the guts to live if I saw that in real life with that same nightmarish voice....chasing me...I would just shoot myself because mt god that is the scariest thing I've ever seen.
same for me, bro..
+elitebelt Read this, then when it was carnage muttering that, in his distorted voice, I fuking froze... Shit is creepy as hell dude.
I feel like the reason Otto is just banging his head on the bars in shame is just because they're just sitting there playing cards and doing nothing in a normal prison cell together with barely any room.
Rhino can just punch the bars and break out but all he's doing is 5:49.
I was legit about on the verge of crying when i was playing this when i was younger.
that crap was scary
