I hadn't chosen a specific motherboard yet and the PS was going to be whatever worked well with my components. I got this card a few days ago and I'm really happy with it. Amazing bang for your buck. I used the Ryzen 3400G APU for a while, playing most AAA games on low or medium at most. With the 1660 super, pretty much anything runs at 60+fps (sometimes ranging in the hundreds) with everything on ultra at 1080p, which is awesome since I don't currently have any monitors or tv with higher resolutions, nor plan on buying any soon.
Seems like some videos dont have the intro, probably a specific editor or a test to see if people complain. Personally I like it and more or less expect it in each and every video which is probably to be expected after watching more than a 1000 of their videos.

2:00 the whole point of it Is when you are playing on say a 4K panel at 1440p, it helps produce a better scaled sharper image which to me looks much better when running non native resolutions.
@@harith1626 the 5600-XT is definitely less powerful than the 1660. I just recommend saving for a card with more power though because the difference in FPS is relatively small. Maybe go for a 1080 or slightly below if it doesn't fit your price range.
I bought this card as my first upgrade and it has been one of the best purchases ever for me. I finally switched mostly to gaming on pc with this and I love that I can run everything at max res with 60+fps
Linus, I would actually advise you to take a more in depth look at Image Sharpening. Nvidia and Radeon's solution is actually not as bad as the solutions we had before. And the image sharpening those 2 provide are actually ideal for games that has a limited selection of Anti-Aliasing options where TAA are among the only options. Due to the fact that TAA gives a very blurry Anti-Aliased image compared to SMAA or MSAA. Even FXAA, which is also slightly blurry is still a little sharper. Image Sharpening compensates for the blurry image created by TAA to give you a visual image that looks more in line with what SMAA or MSAA provides, while still being a little less demanding than MSAA.
IMAGE SHARPENING is Very useful in games like COD MW 2019 where internal resolution is downscaled. I got it set to 70 to make it look Decent. So Linus u Wrong.

I got lucky, it's selling between 450 to 600 euros here. I got one when I bought a prebuild for 800. Remember when you used to *save* money when you build your own PC? Me too. Now it's cheaper to get a prebuilt with room to expand.

They're a good buy right now at the pricepoint. I got a 1660 Ti and it's a 1080p absolute beast, the Super according to benchmarks is very close to the Ti for $50 or so cheaper.
You laugh at Image Sharpening until you play RDR2 where the game pretty much forces you to use Blob Mode. (AKA, TAA) THEN all of a sudden you need that added sharpening.
Ye, some games include their own image sharpening for when taa is enabled, but its not contrast adaptive. Also, you don’t have to crank it all the way up to 0.7-1, just 0.3-0.35 with ignore grain at 0.2 is pretty good improvement without being obvious and annoying.
Radeon image sharpening looks amazing, especially when you run at something like 1800p on a 4K display. You gain a lot of perfoemance with no noticable visual loss.
Less accurate colors, more noticeable aliasing, color banding. I don't get how people don't notice the color accuracy changes, its extremely obvious to my eyes.

I'm currently using a 1650 on one PC and a 1050 on my older PC, so image tearing has been the bane of my existence in a lot of games, forcing me to reduce settings to try to minimize it. If the 1660 Super has a solution to tearing, that's good news. I settled for a used 1650 last year to save money, but now I'm kinda regretting it as prices are coming down now on cards. I can't afford cards in the 20 and 30 series, so I'm thinking of getting a 1660 super. This video helps me decide. Thanks!
Ah, I'm saving up for MSI GeForce GTX 1650 now. Given that most of my games aren't actually that graphically intensive, and I'm on a near-stock HP EliteDesk 800 G2 full tower, I can live with anything without external power, so I don't have to tear down the computer that I just got second hand and already upgraded to 16GB RAM and finally on SSD drives.

@@BrockMak That makes sense. If you are looking for one that doesn't require external power and it's the best card you can find without getting on Trade Me, then it's the best one to go with. It's not a terrible card or anything, it just wasn't quite enough for some of the games I play. For the games that it exceeded the recommended system requirements for, it was fantastic. If you pair it with a recent gen i5 or i7 CPU it'll do quite well on older games and low system requirement games. Here in the U.S., we can sometimes find GPUs on Ebay that are brand new still sealed in the box. Not all the time, but they are once again more prevalent than they were for a while. Some brick-and-mortar stores are even using Ebay as their online sales venue here as it's cheaper than hosting their own website.
pascal is not bottleneck by vram speed, turing core was redesigned completely and taking in mind gddr6 since the early stages of the gpu design, this is why the 1660 super have that heavy performance boost thanks to gddr6 vs gddr5

It causes color banding, visual artifacts and noise, less accurate colors in general and more noticeable aliasing. Idk maybe I'm a weirdo but I can very easily tell that the colors are off when sharpening is on. But I am also someone who can easily tell the difference of 4K vs 8K in gaming, so maybe I have super eyes lol.
I been using the 1660 Ti in my gaming rig I build almost a year ago and I'm very happy with. Although the Ti ver is overclock out of the box I still found a bit more head room to overclock more. Under full load I never seen it get over 42 C.
ti is better, but by VERY slightly and isnt worth the extra cost. So go for the super. If you need more performance, go with the 2060 or wait for the new gpus to come back in stock.
Same here. The situation is still the same, sadly. But it's a wonderful card, especially since I do 1080p gaming. Got 140+ FPS on RE8 on highest settings.

7:10 The used market is far less volatile than the new market nowadays, you would've been super salty if you bought an RTX card late 2018/early 2019 only to have the supers coming a few months later, which basically make the 2060s about as powerful as a 2070 (sometimes even MORE). Also don't forget Radeon VII which only lived for like a few months... and every year we're seeing a new CPU launch that obliterates the prices of the last gen cpu (2700 from 300 to about 150 WITHIN LESS THAN A YEAR). Moral of the story: buy used guys.
Dear Linus Sebastian, I wanna let you know, I've been following your advice for a long time and honestly kinda lost interest in custom PC building, but got into it because a friend wanted to play games and build a rig, right when we were going thru the 1080ti came out, and I def pulled up some of your videos and we both got one. Bought a pre-built custom rig a few months with this inside and....wow, I'm surprised 🙂 More than capable for 1080p gaming, VR is pretty flawless, and omg, video-rendering is blazingly fast. What would normally take me 3hrs to render in Vegas Pro now takes minutes!
This could play COD Warzone. I even managed to stream live on facebook using the same machine as well. Paired it with a Ryzen 3100 and 16GB of 3200 MHz memory. Tried Cyberpunk 2077 and Horizon: Zero Dawn too.
According to the website Techpowerup, the R7 250X had almost double the shading units of the R7 250. So just based on that I'll call your comment bullshit.
I have this gpu currently installed and it perfectly runs CP2077 and any VR title. It's an amazing card. I'd probably upgrade to make use of the RTX software nvidia offers.

@@harith1626 the 5600-XT is definitely less powerful than the 1660. I just recommend saving for a card with more power though because the difference in FPS is relatively small. Maybe go for a 1080 or slightly below if it doesn't fit your price range.

Linus, I would actually advise you to take a more in depth look at Image Sharpening. Nvidia and Radeon's solution is actually not as bad as the solutions we had before.
And the image sharpening those 2 provide are actually ideal for games that has a limited selection of Anti-Aliasing options where TAA are among the only options. Due to the fact that TAA gives a very blurry Anti-Aliased image compared to SMAA or MSAA. Even FXAA, which is also slightly blurry is still a little sharper. Image Sharpening compensates for the blurry image created by TAA to give you a visual image that looks more in line with what SMAA or MSAA provides, while still being a little less demanding than MSAA.
IMAGE SHARPENING is Very useful in games like COD MW 2019 where internal resolution is downscaled. I got it set to 70 to make it look Decent. So Linus u Wrong.

They're a good buy right now at the pricepoint. I got a 1660 Ti and it's a 1080p absolute beast, the Super according to benchmarks is very close to the Ti for $50 or so cheaper.

I LOVE how the add before I watched a Linus video was a video of Linus doing a Honey Ad.
You laugh at Image Sharpening until you play RDR2 where the game pretty much forces you to use Blob Mode. (AKA, TAA)
THEN all of a sudden you need that added sharpening.
It works well in ffxv and re7 and re2 as well.
Ye, some games include their own image sharpening for when taa is enabled, but its not contrast adaptive.
Also, you don’t have to crank it all the way up to 0.7-1, just 0.3-0.35 with ignore grain at 0.2 is pretty good improvement without being obvious and annoying.
The Division 1 looks better with image sharpening. And it comes from a person who usually dislikes third party filters in games.
@@jonathanellis6097 FFXV looked like trash without sharpening, the AA was horrible. With a bit of lumasharpen in reshade it looked 1000x better.

Radeon image sharpening looks amazing, especially when you run at something like 1800p on a 4K display. You gain a lot of perfoemance with no noticable visual loss.
Less accurate colors, more noticeable aliasing, color banding. I don't get how people don't notice the color accuracy changes, its extremely obvious to my eyes.
It's also extremely useful for games with overly-blurry TAA like Resident Evil 2.
Radeon image sharpening is great yea... And honestly, same is this new nvidia image sharpening. Doubt Linus will understand 1080p-1440P gamers cause of all his money and 4k/8k monitors lol....

I'm currently using a 1650 on one PC and a 1050 on my older PC, so image tearing has been the bane of my existence in a lot of games, forcing me to reduce settings to try to minimize it. If the 1660 Super has a solution to tearing, that's good news.
I settled for a used 1650 last year to save money, but now I'm kinda regretting it as prices are coming down now on cards. I can't afford cards in the 20 and 30 series, so I'm thinking of getting a 1660 super. This video helps me decide. Thanks!
Ah, I'm saving up for MSI GeForce GTX 1650 now. Given that most of my games aren't actually that graphically intensive, and I'm on a near-stock HP EliteDesk 800 G2 full tower, I can live with anything without external power, so I don't have to tear down the computer that I just got second hand and already upgraded to 16GB RAM and finally on SSD drives.

@@BrockMak That makes sense. If you are looking for one that doesn't require external power and it's the best card you can find without getting on Trade Me, then it's the best one to go with. It's not a terrible card or anything, it just wasn't quite enough for some of the games I play. For the games that it exceeded the recommended system requirements for, it was fantastic. If you pair it with a recent gen i5 or i7 CPU it'll do quite well on older games and low system requirement games.
Here in the U.S., we can sometimes find GPUs on Ebay that are brand new still sealed in the box. Not all the time, but they are once again more prevalent than they were for a while. Some brick-and-mortar stores are even using Ebay as their online sales venue here as it's cheaper than hosting their own website.

pascal is not bottleneck by vram speed, turing core was redesigned completely and taking in mind gddr6 since the early stages of the gpu design, this is why the 1660 super have that heavy performance boost thanks to gddr6 vs gddr5

It causes color banding, visual artifacts and noise, less accurate colors in general and more noticeable aliasing. Idk maybe I'm a weirdo but I can very easily tell that the colors are off when sharpening is on. But I am also someone who can easily tell the difference of 4K vs 8K in gaming, so maybe I have super eyes lol.

I been using the 1660 Ti in my gaming rig I build almost a year ago and I'm very happy with. Although the Ti ver is overclock out of the box I still found a bit more head room to overclock more. Under full load I never seen it get over 42 C.

They are garbage. Anything worse than a 2060 is absolute trash. Might as well stick with a console.
ti is better, but by VERY slightly and isnt worth the extra cost. So go for the super.
If you need more performance, go with the 2060 or wait for the new gpus to come back in stock.

7:10 The used market is far less volatile than the new market nowadays, you would've been super salty if you bought an RTX card late 2018/early 2019 only to have the supers coming a few months later, which basically make the 2060s about as powerful as a 2070 (sometimes even MORE). Also don't forget Radeon VII which only lived for like a few months... and every year we're seeing a new CPU launch that obliterates the prices of the last gen cpu (2700 from 300 to about 150 WITHIN LESS THAN A YEAR). Moral of the story: buy used guys.

I have this gpu currently installed and it perfectly runs CP2077 and any VR title. It's an amazing card. I'd probably upgrade to make use of the RTX software nvidia offers.
