I love your little oasis. Sometimes it takes so little to be happy. :)

I would say you need less stuff and more courage to be happy :-)

Hi.... Great set up... quick question... what do you do with your appliances when the awning comes down?

Hi Julie, well everything has to be moved into storage... That's why we try to keep only what we need and use. Still too much! Have a great day :-) /K

What a beautiful site and such a cute woof 🐶. What you have done and say makes so much sense. My question is we are about to buy a caravan for full time living but are nervous on older caravans (Baileys) because of leaks? Any advice on how to avoid a leaky caravan ? Thanks so much …😊

Hi Cath ;-) The site is awesome and not in full glory yet, it gets better by the day. We see first shy buds ;-)
I would say that with caravans age doesn't really matter. We viewed never caravans which were bashed. not winterised properly, not taken care of... It's a bit like with cars, depends on how they were treated. If the previous owners took care of it, you will see it straight away.
Often older vans are more robust than newer ones, there are different ranges too, you get high spec, decent vans built to last, and cheaper with worse finish, good for touring once or twice a year... We will do our best to answer your question fully in a video, but a quick word of advice is: if the van is damp, you will smell it instantly! Have a good look in all nooks and crannies, cupboards, under sofas etc. Fully inspect in and out, warn the owner that you will need to take your time... if they have nothing to hide, a thorough inspection shouldn't be a problem. Do your research and don't tell the seller that it's your first caravan :D :D :D / K

@@FreedomSeekers-FS thanks so much your reply was super helpful! Keep posting love your videos . I like that it’s not just all the “Insta worthy “ pretty stuff that is all fluff. We live greyhounds too! We have a labradoodle and a little poodle cross both old guys but our next fur child will be a GH for sure . Enjoy your day 😊❤️🙏

Hi Cath :-) Lovely to hear from you. Well it's a normal life, squeezed into a small space, but we don't feel cramped, quite the opposite. When it's dry we spend most of the time outdoors. We are in AONB, a short walk from the coastpath and beaches and that is creme a la creme of this lifestyle BUT there is quite a lot of work first. Spring is busy, today I will be proofing the awning, so will film that... a lot of house or rather caravankeeping on the way :-)
Dogs are lifesavers and being able to have one is a blessing :-) Hounds make amazing pets. I hate how greyhounds are exploited for racing and then dumped and end up in shelters :( Our Diesel is semi- rescue. He was in a family, but clearly did not meet their expectations: either racing, hunting or worse. I am sure making profit was involved. He behaved like a rescue dog for the first two years, but now he is a happy and spoilt pooch, and not scared of people any more.
This lifestyle is great for him.
      Visit Lurcher Link website www.lurcher-link.org/
and forum- they help hounds in distress all over the country, also it is like a wikipedia on caring for hounds. Tonns of great advice.
Time to get to work, it's gonna be a lovely sunny day :-) Have a good one. /K

Hello great video 😄 can I ask how do you manage in the summertime with your doggy.

Hi Emma, our lifestyle and routine is built around Diesel :D And when we were looking for a job on a caravan site we wanted one which will give us time to take care of our dog.
I believe your question is: how do you cope with heat in the summer. We do split shifts: in the morning and in the afternoon, so we have a long break at the hottest time of the day (if we are blessed with some heat :D:D), our pitch only gets full sun for a few hours at midday, and that's the time when we are off.
Also we have an air con for occasional heat waves and even though it is only needed a few times in a year, it is crucial to keep the van cool. We take Diesel for longer walks early in the morning and in the evening, do only short toilet walks during the day, luckily we have plenty of trees and a stream on site, so that's our regular route in the summer. We have a few more tricks to keep the van cool - great video topic! but the main thing is that we are on site, and always able to pop in to our caravan to check on our dog and make sure he is ok ;-)
Thank you for watching ;-) Have you got a caravan too? And what kind of dog have you got? / K

@@FreedomSeekers-FS I’ve thought about becoming a warden but I would worry about leaving my dog whilst out and about working or can you take him with you

    • @FreedomSeekers-FS
      @FreedomSeekers-FS  2 ปีที่แล้ว

Yes, for some jobs you can take your dog with you, our predecessors did that. On most of the sites dogs must be kept on lead though. We don't take Diesel to work as our shifts are broken into 2-3 hours chunks, so he is not alone for long. Also when taken to work he expects us to play with him 😊 and it's hard not to 😆😆😆
Everything can be arranged. Most of site owners have their dogs so they will understand. And most of the jobs on the site do not have to be done at exact time, as long as they are done. It depends on your dog too and his/her temper, if they get on with other dogs, are scared of noisy machinery, if they are ok if tethered. It is definitely doable :-)

Hello there hope your both doing well I am a new subscriber and thought I would introduce my self I am Jamie I have a wife Tina and our 2 boys Andrew and Harvey I love your channel I have watched back your videos and it's great and what your doing is something I wanna do I want to live in a caravan as we are starting panick with all the price increase we on a low income like everyone else but having 2 children I might find it hard to find a site that would have us we are getting a cheap caravan this year to go camping with as we use a tent now but when it gets cold we can go and we miss it with a caravan will use all year round but this is why I need to try and find a option where a campsite would allow us to live there with children if the worst was to happen at least will still have a roof over our head we are also starting our own channel on TH-cam very soon and hopefully will go well lol bit you never know well you both take care all the best

Hi Jamie, so great to hear from you ;-) Thank you for your kind words, they REALLY encourage us to keep posting new videos! We know a few families with children who either live vanlife or live on caravanning sites like us.
Would finding a site that would welcome a family be hard? I think if there is a will there is a way. You will not know till you start sending your CVs - I understand you want to work on site? You would probably have better chances if both you and Tina apply.
I would start with small, family owned sites.
Getting a caravan to try if that could work for you is a great idea. How old are your children? Even in a bigger van, space will be limited for 4, so I would say look for a caravan with an awning. Many people sell them together and if you have to buy an awning look for a second hand. It will double your living space.
It all sounds like a beginning of a great adventure! Go for it! Keep us posted and if you have any questions - just write.
      Good luck.
      Kat and Marek
oh... btw back in 2017 we agreed that costs of living are too high :D :D both worked full time, no children [; and we felt we do not have much left after paying bills, and that we hardly ever see each other [; Blimey.

@@FreedomSeekers-FS thank you so much for the advise and my children are 10 and youngest is about to turn 6 in may and ideally I would love to work as a warden but even if it's just a site to live on as soon might be starting a new job but either would be brilliant and we can only afford second hand got a budget of £2000 for caravan and will be making sure we have a awning but looking to get a air awning second hand seen some big ones second hand for around £200 so can't fault that and cost of living we in same boat as you everytime we get paid within 2 days there is no money left and now worried with bills going up next month and herd that they are going up again by October we know we can't afford to pay anymore out so we gonna end up getting into a lot of debt plus I can only work part time at the min as got some medical problems so can't work anymore than I am now plus my dad is disabled so I have to keep going to see him to help him to and I have to think of my children to keep a roof over there head so the only other option is to get a caravan and I never knew so many people do it with kids that's good news but like you said it could be hard but I will keep you informed and hopefully my TH-cam channel ones it has started will be good as doing the filming and getting out to do a video is gonna take my mind of 5he problems lol you both take care all the best love from us all
