  • Can you live in a caravan on a seasonal pitch? What is a seasonal pitch? How much does it cost? What are the advantages and disadvantages of purchasing a seasonal pitch for your touring caravan? This video will answer all these questions and also give you tips for choosing seasonal pitch for your caravan! It seems that seasonal pitches become more and more popular feature of caravanning in the UK, and more and more of people ask us what is a seasonal pitch. In this video I share my experiences of caravanning, namely full time caravanning as a member of campsite staff. One of the biggest perks of working on a caravanning site is the fact that most of jobs come with a seasonal pitch where you can site your caravan for the duration of your contract. If you are new to caravanning, you may be interested in seasonal pitches, as more and more sites offer them or even more: turn all touring pitches into seasonal pitches and allow seasonal guests only. A seasonal pitch is a special plot on the campsite or in a holiday park, where you can site your caravan for a season. It has many advantages as you don't have to tow your caravan each time you want to use it, it saves a lot of time and money on petrol. On the other hand having a seasonal pitch means you will spend all your caravanning trips in the same place. In this video I share more advantages and disadvantages of purchasing a seasonal pitch for your touring caravan, talk about the costs and whether it is worth the money. Finally I share my insider tips on choosing your perfect seasonal pitch. It is quite common to join a waiting list when you apply for a campsite seasonal pitch, especially in a popular area. Prices for caravan seasonal pitches vary according to the location, standard of the site and length of the season. Water is normally included in your site fees, but electricity is either paid on a fixed rate or metered. It is worth stressing that touring seasonal pitches on campsites and in holiday parks are for holiday use only and you can't live in a caravan on a seasonal pitch. Many sites demand a proof of permanent address elsewhere.

      😍 I wouldn't say we are lucky, as we direct our lives in a way to be able to live this lifestyle. We made some decisions, sacrifices and consciously made many hard decisions - I wouldn't call it luck, I would call it hard work to live your life the way you want to live it and be happy where you are 😁 /M

    Have a static if you want a seasonal pitch,sooner travel around with a TOURING caravan ,visiting many great places

    • @FreedomSeekers-FS
      @FreedomSeekers-FS  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes that's a good point, however seasonal pitches for statics are more expensive and it's often tricky to move a static if you want to change a site. Also many sites do not allow siting older statics - they want you to buy a new one from them.

      @@FreedomSeekers-FS site fees for a seasonal pitchs are getting stupid, esp the time some sites are open

    • @FreedomSeekers-FS
      @FreedomSeekers-FS  ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, price is determined by demand and supply. On many campsites there is a queue of people waiting for seasonal pitch, some of them have to wait even couple of years! 😁 /M

    Hi, great video, could I do 4 weeks in n one location then 4 in another and keep going back and fourth? I’m looking for a viable way to live in a router all year round, in one county. Thanks in advance 🙏👍

      Hello! Some people choose to move from campsite to campsite every 28 days, or take a few days away from the site. However, if you plan to buy a seasonal pitch, keep in mind that you may need to provide proof of a permanent address, such as a council tax bill or utility bill.

    Good evening I have a question how I bought a seasonal place or the caravan must stand there all the time if I can take it and, for example, go for a week to another campsite Have a nice week Greetings

    • @FreedomSeekers-FS
      @FreedomSeekers-FS  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, of course you can move your caravan and take it off site if you fancy a holiday elsewhere, that's an interesting question, thanks! Another reason for taking your van off site is doing a service. K

    Very Good Video But Seasonal Pitch Not For Us, We Did Try It A Few Years Ago, I Quite Enjoy Towing And Going To Different Places Sometimes With Our Friends, Also We've Noticed That Some Are Left Empty And A Bit Sad Looking On Good Pitches! But Having Said That A Lot Of Caravan touring sites Probably Wouldn't Survive Without Them..

    • @FreedomSeekers-FS
      @FreedomSeekers-FS  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Ronald, great that you have had a taste of both worlds. Yes, I agree staying on a seasonal pitch is completely different to touring. There is the third option too: storage & delivery to the particular site :D Would you try that, or do you enjoy towing? :-) K

    If you can only stay for 28 days on a seasonal pitch what the stay away period before you can come back?

    • @FreedomSeekers-FS
      @FreedomSeekers-FS  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can stay on your seasonal pitch for 21 - 28 days consecutively at the majority of campsites, with a 2 night gap before guests can return to the same campsite. However, there are a few campsites where guests may be asked to vacate for longer periods in between stays. /M

  • @fergusstevenston
    @fergusstevenston ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Also, how would they know I was staying only 4 weeks? I just really want to get out of my rental flat which is expensive 😮

    • @FreedomSeekers-FS
      @FreedomSeekers-FS  ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, typically campsites have rules about how long people can stay, and they may keep track of who's on the site and for how long. If you overstay your allotted time, you could be subject to additional fees or penalties. Additionally, if you're planning to rent a pitch on a site, you may be required to provide identification and contact information, which could make it difficult to stay for longer than the allowed time without being noticed.

    • @FreedomSeekers-FS
      @FreedomSeekers-FS  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi again Fergus, if you really want to get out of renting and live on site without worrying if someone is going to make you move... get a campsite job 😎 Some sites offer part time contracts, you can easily treat it as a side job, doing other things, perhaps setting up your own venture. There are sites which offer staff accommodation too, usually for modest rent, hotels do it too. Good luck! Where there is a will, there is a way! Rents are horrendous, and so few places on the market, tenants are practically trapped. Kat

    So the 28 days limit does that mean you could go whelp, gonna go to a hotel for a night and go back the day after?

    • @FreedomSeekers-FS
      @FreedomSeekers-FS  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, you're correct! The 28-day limit usually refers to continuous occupancy on the same pitch. So, you could indeed decide to spend a night or a few nights in a hotel and then return to your seasonal pitch after that. It's a great way to enjoy some variety in your camping experience while still making the most of your seasonal pitch. Just be sure to check with the campsite management for any specific rules (like confirmation of your permanent address or a council tax bill) or arrangements they might have regarding temporary departures. Happy camping! /M

    Its 28 days at a time. So if you leave for a night then come back you get another 28 days. 😅

    • @FreedomSeekers-FS
      @FreedomSeekers-FS  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, in theory yes. It depends on the site's management really, to what extend they police it. K

      @@FreedomSeekers-FS I am a long haul truck driver & only home at weekends & occasionally the odd night in the week. I begrudge paying 1000 a mth for a flat I am never in . Could a seasonal pitch work for me do you think ? In close season I can easily site it at our haulage yard . I can get a proof of an address too.
