By the way, SGD $12,499 (if it includes tax) is a bargain for Singaporeans! My HM1 imported to Australia from Europe from the Zahl intl. sales office is of total cost equivalent ~$14,137.17 SGD including import duty, tax & fees. Infact, the price to consumers (inc. tax) in Europe is $9,939 EUR = ~$14,391.96 SGD. So, lucky for Singaporeans!
Yeah I think SG is on a relatively balance price. US prices are lower but once you consider tax and shipping, it cost more. So I am all good with the pricing haha. Just looking forward to review dacs and daps with this guy haha
For me, anything past the $1000 would need to be tube realated in order for me to consider it. The differences in solid state simply aren't enough for me, especially for EQ gang.
I wanted the hm1 for its functions haha. Have two identical amp in a unit that you can swap is the intention. But I generally agree that solid state above a certain price point differences are really small. For me it’s about $2-3k and above that unless it’s function or something special. That said the HM1 does have some special functions with the knobs
Thanks for sharing your impressions. I'm currently simulating the functionality of the HM1 using a Schiit Lokius and Schiit Syn. Wonder if there are any similarities in effect?
From the amp side of things, I’m sure the hm1 probably is a little different from Schiit product. From the processing side, the hm1 is more subtle (only a few db for bass/treble and the spatial knob is more of subtle shift) but better implemented. You can take a look at golden sound measurement and hm1 takes no impact to sound quality while messing with settings.
@@ZPProductions Yes, to test how the Zahl scales with DACs vs the OOR. E.g. Massive increase in SQ with my AMP-23R when driven by my Tambaqui vs my Mojo 2.
Technically I measured there's some different in driving with a low voltage source vs a high voltage one. But I am pretty sure the DAC characteristics and signature probably play a bigger role than voltage.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts! I have the HM1 too and love it! Nothing like it

Can you try it with a higher end DAC like Tambaqui, Dave or May with a higher output voltage into the HM1, than your DAP?
Any purpose to doing it? I have a Hugo TT that can go 5V +

Naa Riviera better bra yup those AIC-10..sory..Peace!
different type of amp haha.
Just say it's a POS and be done...
