Thank you for the best 'info' video I've yet seen....AND HEARD! My now over 20 year old keyboard has seen it's final days and my search has brought me to the Roland 700 series. What a find! The demonstration is wonderful and far beyond my expectations. I know the Roland is well known for its superior sound and that is so well displayed in this video. A perfect demonstration! i can't wait for my new "piano". Digital has come a very long way from the 80's !!!!! Thank you again!

      @@mohammedrokaya1625 Hello,
I've been using this piano since last May. The product is very good overall with a nice modern home piano design.
The PHA50 has a really nice touch to it . I love the grand piano sounds. The supernatural sound engine is great!
One issue that I have to mention is the fact that the right sub speaker doesn't work sometimes and I'm waiting for a replacement since August.
Besides this issue, I recommend this instrument because it is a pretty good deal.

Visited eastbourne today and spoke to Greg - he was incredibly helpful and patient!
I tried the G300, CA58, and A Yamaha (didn't like the heavy keys on the Yamaha!)
However the 704 really appealed to me. I have been SO torn... but it seems like a really good DP (I've only been playing 6 months!) For a beginner who is after something that will last for years.
Please pass on my thanks to Greg for his excellent and honest advice.
...so the 704 - have I made a good choice?

@@LumenRoy I ended up going with the Kawai CA78. It was a bit more expensive, but not that much more expensive than the Yamaha. Everything I read seemed to suggest it was the better choice in terms of sound and touch, and it came in Polished Ebony, which the CA58 did not (superficial, I know, but it's what I wanted). It was a very tough choice but I kept coming back to the fact that when I first tried the Yamaha CLP645 I found the keys a bit heavier than I expected them to be, and someone else mentioned the same thing in an online forum, so I figured I'd go with go with the CA78 (to be fair, I did not notice the same problem with the Yamaha with subsequent try-outs). Do not regret my choice one bit, but I will finish by saying that all the stores I went to told me that any of those pianos would be a good choice, so I think you'll be happy with whichever one you choose.

    • @rodz8005
      @rodz8005 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@marlajackson1905 Hello Marla,
I dont know if you have alreday bought a piano but I tried several pianos :
      Roland HP704
      Yamaha Clavinova 735
      Kawai ca39
So between Yamaha and Roland I didn't feel a big difference regarding the keys. They were rather tough, and didn't make any sound (like a real piano) if I pressed them slowly. For the sound, I didn't heard any difference either, maybe a bit more better for the yamaha but again, not worth 200€ (difference between both of the piano) . It was in a great place, lot of space with maximum volume. Since I prefered the design of the HP704, I prefered this one. Then, I tried the Ca39. What a sound ! It was much deeper, espacially in the bass tone. Concerning the keys, I feel like they were more like a real piano as well. BUT I don't know why, the black keys felt more fragile, I mean I didn't like the feeling, like I was going to break them every time I touched them... So in the end I really hesitate between Ca39 and HP704. HP704 had the design, and even if the sound sounded better on the Kawai and I prefered the feel of the keys on this piano, the black keys stopped me, I don't know, it seemed weird, I was not at ease so... I chose the HP704 !

it seems to me "on-board" sound profiles of digital pianos (I have CLP but hear the same here) are average. I have CLP. My iPad Pro (over midi) sounds BETTER with Korg Module Ivory Grand than "native" build-in sound. Over my notebook I use NI Noire and Keyscape - they are PERFECT. MUCH MORE BETTER. I use piano only as top-tier mechanical midi keyboard but I let my mbp to care about sound.
So don't expect great sound out of box. Sound is good but nor impressive neither inspiring. I guess velocity levels of on-board banks are poor.
BUT keep in mind you'll have a choice of any sound over midi. Don't care about sound to much. Care about keyboard and how it feels. digital pianos' keyboards are way better than all midi keyboards I ever touched in my life. In any case digital piano would provide you perfect keyboard, perfect speaker system and "ok" sound to start with. You may "upgrade" sound with professional software later. But there's no way to "upgrade" speakers and keyboard without significant investment. It's "no risk" purchase. 700 or LX. TIred with plastic voice ? Add $150 and get NI Noire, Keyscape or whatever top-tier virtual piano.
I connect my CLP with "local control - off" (silent) over midi into mac book and audio output of mac book back into CLP line-in - mac book receives midi and plays right through piano. No latency. NI Noire my favorite but you'll have several options for you. There are plenty of astonishing virtual pianos on market.

      Sugar Touch
You said everything I think. I fully agree with you. In my opinion, we should be concerned with the quality of the keys and the interaction with the instrument. The sound, if we are not satisfied, we can use a midi library. In fact, it is extremely advisable to use it. The internal sound can stay for studies or when we are just in the mood to play without compromising on sound quality. What I really regret is that, in my country (Brazil), all of these instruments cost almost twice what they cost in the USA and Europe. This is because of taxes. This is really very sad. Sugar Touch, thanks for your comments and thanks Tony for another great demonstration. As always very clear and didactic.
