I would like to see a video on adjusting the fence. Since there was a nasty cut on the saw, I think it would be helpful to show how you adjust the factory set fence. I am not only a novice but have never used a miter saw. I have used a chop saw and a table saw but my new Kobalt 8.5 inch miter saw is a little threatening. Thanks for your consideration!
At the moment, I'm snowed out of my shop, gotta love winter. The process I used was clamping a peice of plywood to the saw, cut the plywood and used that cut line and a framing square to align the fence. Its definitely a video I can look at making and posting. Thanks for the suggestion.
Can you tell me if the saw can be locked down at an angle other than the predefined angles? As in 5 degrees or 31 degrees. Mine does not and it seems like a real flaw. Thanks

I have this Kobalt 10 in compact dual-bevel miter saw model SM2517LW /1413794 bought in the US at Lowe's about Sept. 2021. On your video you show the pop-up stops on the extension wings. My saw did not come with them but there is a place they will fit on the extension wings that have a 3/16 hole in the wings for mounting the stop. I would like to have these but they don't show up in the Kobalt manual as an available part. Do you have any suggestions? PLF
Based off my manual, they are part numbers 349G and 349F, if you were to call 1-888-356-2258 (again this is from my manual) it states you can order replacement parts. Hopefully this helps.
I have my local US Lowes store trying to find these parts but I did not have your email with part numbers when I contacted them. I contacted the Customer Service at the Lowes on the www.lowes.ca website. Using your part numbers they could not find the parts. They said even if they found the parts they could not ship to the US. I would love to have the parts but I guess I'm out of luck unless my local Lowes can help me. Thanks, Phil Francis
Just bought this saw and I have the original blade on there. I was cutting a 4.25" baseboard vertically against the fence and it had issues cutting all the way through (it leaves a very very tiny piece that breaks off). The stops aren't active. Tried adjusting the fence with no luck. Any advice? is it the blade?
The blade that comes with the saw isn't very good, a replacement blade makes a huge difference. Also try a zero clearance throat plate, either make one, or they are available online. Hope that helps
Great Review I was thinking about Dewalt and Kobalt I'm kinda on the fence between these two, overall my feeling Dual Bevel Kobalt is way to go..Dewalt is for the name Yes and quality Yes but Kobalt you can't go wrong my next purchase is Kobalt Hands down...hope your served you well and no Issues let me know how it went for you so far.. @@wordworking_awv Thank You
I brought my off the display at lowe's when they sold this brand do you happen to know what size battery it takes and what size saw bag
Mine is a plug into the wall, not cordless. For the dust port a standard 2.5" shopvac hose will fit

I know its different store to store, but where I am the level of assistance at Lowes is the reason I drive past them and to HomeDepot.
Looking to grab this saw but i cant find the dimensions for actual footprint tincluding the slide bars.
How far from the wall does it need to be ?
I now have mine on a mobile cabinet the is 28" deep and 30" wide, which is more than enough.
@@wordworking_awv thank you
How do you get the spring properly installed. I screwed up everything trying to replace the blade and now can't get it back together.
Which spring has come out, when I replaced my blade I did not recall a spring

Thanks, I've been happy with it, especially after I upgraded the blade.

@@wordworking_awv awesome 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼I’ll buy one skip dewalt
My laser stop working on mine how do I fix it.
As far as fixing it, I am not 100% sure, you could look into replacing it. If you contact your local Lowes, they may be able to help you out
I took my apart and cleaned it. And it started working again
If you were able to align it, it wasn't an "issue"; it was a problem. Issues don't have a solution; problems do. Simple common sense.
