- For our 2024 Yamaha YZ450F test bike/Garage Build we hooked up with Eddie Laret, as he is a former professional MX/SX mechanic turned weekend warrior. We wanted to see where we could improve on a bike that is already one of the best off the showroom floor. The 23/24 Yamaha YZ450F chassis was changed, body work was improved for a more seamless look, the frame was revised, and the engine got an increase in overall power. For a vet rider there is some room for improvement within the chassis and engine. After riding the bike in stock trim, we wanted a smoother engine feel as well as a chassis that needed a little more straight-line stability for a race such as the Mammoth Mountain MX event. We didn’t want to get out of control with engine mods or chassis upgrades, so keeping the cost down was in our mind within this build. We felt with some minor tweaks and a few aftermarket parts from our contributors we could help the YZ450F be more comfortable for a vet rider.

I’m running the MX14 now just to give it a try. Tons of traction on acceleration but slides all over under acceleration on hard pack and blue grooved dirt
Nice bike
STR suspension, I know that thing has to be super plush.
I had my cr250 set up by them and good lord is that suspension great
Shock therapy suspension is the best
Yamaha best motorbike the world :)*
Sick bike! You said your running a 49 tooth rear sprocket, what are you running for the front? Is that more pull for 3rd and 4th gear?
So, I just looked up the specs of the 839 bar on the Renthal site and it says 91mm height and 51mm sweep and 802mm wide. Keefer and Eddie say here it's 803mm wide, 92 mm high and 53 mm sweep. So......are there TWO Renthal 839 bars or is it "those numbers are close enough" , Just wondering because Keefer said sweep was 54mm (Eddie said 53mm) and Renthal says 51mm which is quite a difference. I have the SX Race Pro Taper and Henry Reed, the sweep is 54mm and 57mm respectfully and there's a big difference visually in sweep between those two.
I wish the bar manufacturers would give their measurements in degrees! Because a bar with 54 and 57mm sweep could actually have the same sweep angle as it all depends where the bend is made.
Faast flex bars give their sweep in degrees and makes way more sense for the average person to compare.
Renthals comparison simulator is great in comparing their bars against each other but sucks for entering measurements from other manufacturers and I’ve found time and time again that manually entering in the same widths doesn’t match on the simulator.
@@ChookChasersMX I couldn't agree more. I was going crazy when researching bar bends! I also couldn't believe the difference between a 54mm sweep and 57mm sweep as I have both the Pro Taper SX Race (54mm) and Henry Reed (57mm) and holding them top to bottom, the difference is substantial. I settled on the taller Renthal fatbar (603) Windham bend.
Would you like to sell this bike I would be interested.
