This Week in MXA, episode 156, presented by O'Neal Racing, highlights MX-Tech suspension's $7600 suspension kit which encompasses their complete National shock (tuned for your speed and size), complete set of Blackjack forks (tuned for your speed and size), a titanium front axle and a set of Luxon MX Gen 3 Pro triple clamps, which come with two steering stems, allowing you to adjust between four different offset positions. MXA test riders, Josh Fout and Shawn Bushnell spent time testing with MX-Tech on our 2024 Yamaha YZ450F and testing will continue on this project. Also, in this episode we highlight the upcoming PanicRev camp at Barona Oaks in San Diego, January 1st through the 3rd and our 2024 MXA 450 Shootout.

Is it worth $7600? No of course not, a 500$ revalve of the stock stuff will get you close enough to no difference for the average rider. You could buy a second bike with the remaining 7k

Not completely true, don't know this kit but I have wp conevalve and wp trax on my own bike for a few years now.
Before that I had my shock and forks revalved and the result is actually great if you never tried the aftermarket stuff.
It is a major step forward from the revalved stuff... I was lucky to know a person within WP racing, he rebuild a used shock and fork set as new and sold it to me for a really fair price, so mine was totally worth it's money, especially since it can be used for years.
Do you really need it ? No of course not, you can even ride with the stock stuff... Is it worth the money ? Really depends on who you're asking, if you can afford it and you want the best feeling bike that gives you a lot of confidence, sure, worth the money. If you're a bit on a budget or you just don't care that much, not worth the money.
But it is the same for everything... Some cars are worth the money for person A and completely not for B. Depending on the situation it can be worth the money.
For 7600 I would assume you would at least get a shock with a decent spring preload adjuster instead of the old two ring system, something like an xtrig.

@@dr00andrewNot true. I’m one of only two MX Tech dealers in Western Canada and have been tuning suspension for 15 years. Stiffness in the right places is very beneficial and flex in the right places is also very beneficial. If you work with the tuner who has sold you the components and come up with settings that cater to your ability, even a Jr level racer would experience huge benefits from components like this. I’m not saying EVERYONE needs this stuff, you’re right, even a revalve and springs for your weight is a huge step in the right direction. But there’s no denying that you can ride faster, safer and experience less fatigue using components like this. The key part of this all is that the components are set up for your needs. That’s where stock components that are sprung and valved correctly, will outperform high end suspension components if they aren’t set up correctly.

Have you ridden their fork @waynehearst317 because it actually is supposed to have a better flex characteristic than kyb a kit and the the stock tubes, ie. more flex. My personal experience in owning their suspension, Both the shock and fork. Their setups have treated me well and been very plush stable and confidence inspiring. Granted I’m on a different chassis. I just don’t see how you could say how rigid this setup would be without the experience of being on their program.

@@waynehearst317who said it was stiff or didn’t flex? As an educated rider, you know that just because something is steel or aluminum doesn’t mean it flexes more or less. It’s all in the structural design. Flex in the right places is critical. Look at good triple clamps Vs bad ones. Engine hangers. Etc. all of these “performance components” are designed to flex in the right place, regardless of the material they’re made of. It’s the R&D that costs the most, as I’m sure you already know. Don’t hate on this stuff or make comments that make you sound uneducated without trying the stuff first and then giving a true opinion. 👍🏼

But if your not even into revalving your suspension 8k is definitely going to seem like a lot. If your comparing to the other worthwhile options though it’s cheaper and probably better in most cases. I haven’t tested with kyb a kit yet on my ktm but I do run a highly modified kyb converted fork on my husky.

    @waynehearst317 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

@MXA if you're going to praise a $$$ suspension package like this, and talk about all the "pros", why not give your viewers some of the potential "cons". I've been an ENZO rider for 20+ years and understand what going from 48mm to 49mm and going to a Ti front axle does. For almost ANY VET level rider, and 99% of beginner to expert riders this will make the front end WAY TOO STIFF. 1MM on the fork tubes adds an incredible amount of stiffness, the Ti axle adds even more. Most of us NEED some flex in those tubes. If you're on a SX track, sure, this is ideal. At Glen Helen I can't imagine this setup would perform as good as a stock KYB with proper valving and spring rates. Just some caution out there for people.

Keep that in mind when you see the price tag on this stuff. If you are fast enough to use it. Buy it. It works. @@Runk3lsmcdougal yes. I’m well aware it’s a useable fork. It also doesn’t mean that’s the best solution.
There’s a reason why everyone prefers yamaha suspension stock compared to ktm suspension stock. Every single shootout every year points out how much better yamaha fork is. There’s a reason.
Idk anyone who doesn’t agree a spring fork feels better. We can also all agree an air fork is useable, It’s all about what your willing to give up. Pros n cons to both setups. You just have to be aware of them.
Feel is very important for the rider. If you don’t like an air forks feel your NEVER going to fix that. Regardless of settings. I would have still felt the stiction and the j curve of an air fork and no amount of tuning is going to remove that feel from an air fork without compromising hold up.
So for me and anyone else who prefers the feel of a spring fork it is a necessity.

probably the worst "test" video ive seen. there was absolutely no detailed information on the suspension and the edits were insane.....assuming it was an air set up but who knows..... come on MXA!

That’s exactly what it is. I have it on my ktm. I would revalve a Yamaha with Enzo. It would be just as good across the board for less. Their stuff is rad but I wouldn’t put it on a Yamaha. A ktm I would say it’s a MUST if your a spring fork guy. Best product out there to fix the wp suspension fiasco.
