Hello Josh, I have 2 suggestions that I think could make your reviews even more complete. 1) test audio without dolby atmos software. Testing the audio with dolby atmos turned on shows you how speakers work with equalizer. Testing them without it shows how the speaker really performs not its combo with dolby atmos. For example if you install linux you don't have dolby atmos and you are stuck with what speaker has on it's own. Which is actually not bad as equalizers just pretend it's better most of the time by pumping some frequencies to sound more fun/clear/whatever profile you check. For example if you use high quality headphones when you use dolby atmos you will hear disortions. Laptop speakers are usually not high enough quality to acutally sound workse with dolby atmos but some good audio headphones will expose the pumped up frequencies. 2) I mentioned linux, checking if laptop runs linux out of the box (sound, keyboard etc) is crucial for some part of your viewers. I'm aware it's minority but most linux users to see if linux works on new machine has to either buy it or wait months until some user decides to post his linux experience.

Was planning to upgrade my 2014 MacBook Pro. The M3 MacBook was released in November 2023. Waited for the Boxing Day sales in Australia. Initially I was looking at the M2 MacBook models, but I realised JB HiFi (Apple authorised reseller) were applying a similar BD discount to the newer M3 models as well. I decided to go with a 14' M3 MacBook with M3 Pro Chip and 18gb RAM and the 1TB hard drive as it had a $420 discount. Cashed in some Qantas FF points for JB vouchers for another $600 off. Drive away price was $3,179 AUD.... the new MacBook is fantastic! (As Josh said pay full retail on Apple website... $4,199 AUD)

1:12 Well at my local Micro Center, I heard an MSI laptop _at idle_ with its fans clearly audible. Guess which laptop was immediately crossed off my list? 😂
7:26 My HP laptop I purchased 2 months ago comes with 3-month free access of McAfee Antivirus, but I uninstall it anyway because not only it gives annoying pop ups, it also use considerable amount of CPU even when just idling, making the battery life a bit worse
Qestion: Could some one suggest a good laptop for casual (watching movies - Need a good quality screen, decent speaker) and for learning purpose (Cyber Security - running multiple virtual machines, Pen testing, Netwrok security, little programing and all those stuff ). I am looking for a portable laptop as I dont play games. I have short listed XPS15, Lenovo X1 Carbon Gen 11, Thinkpad t14 or t14s. Thank you!
Definitely worth thinking about, but personally I’ve never cared about fan noise. I’ve got an ASUs tuf 15 and its fans are so loud playing video games but I just don’t notice since I’ve got my headset in all the time. Though I did bring it into uni once and it was pretty loud unti I put it on silent mode that dimmed the screen and made it pretty slow.
Fan noise under load isn't too much of an issue IMO. What's more annoying is when a laptop constantly ramps the fans up and down under normal use, instead of running at a lower stable RPM or only occasionally turning on fans. My old VAIO did that and it was extremely annoying.
I'm planning to purchase a new laptop for myself & thank god i found Josh! Your videos helped me a lot in deciding which laptops to buy & what I should look out for!
Another good point to make with regards to the second hand or refurbished laptops, is you can get warranty protection extended or covered at the secondary price. Increased protection at lower price!!
Hi. What are your thoughts about "ASUS - Zenbook 14" 120Hz OLED Touch Laptop - EVO Intel 13 Gen Core i9 with 32GB Memory - NVIDIA GeForece RTX 3050 - 1TB"? Is it worth it?
I own MSI STEALTH 16 Studio. After I refresh the Windows 11 and turn off some service. I didn't use MSI Afterburn. I confirm it gets 5 hours and 40 min at 100% battery life.
Like most I learned the hard way I bought a high internal spec laptop in a cheap chassis so all the things I used: Display, trackpad, speakers, weren't good. So last time I bought a laptop I bought a new in box 2021 ThinkPad Nano. It has very good display, speakers, and trackpad, better battery life. I don't game, code, or edit video so I don't need powerful internals, but effiecent ones.
Hey Josh, I really like your videos and reviews, however pricing can be very complicated when you have a diverse audience in terms of geographical location, especially when it comes to sales I really get excited to check the stuff out only to find the product costs 3 times as much in Germany as in the US, could you maybe consider adding a warning or additional information about where the sales are applied? That would be very nice thank you
To truly support our global audience, we really need a larger team and better tools. I.e. if you click pricing from Germany, you see German stores and German deals. Also, recommendations, as you said, need to factor that in. We are aiming to get there, but we need a bit more growth first
Hey Josh, Love the compiled links, thank you. Just a note. The Lenovo Slim Pro 7 link goes to a machine that has 7735HS as opposed to 7840HS, just doesn't go with the configuration you've mentioned in the excel. Also the bus speed on the RAM in the affiliate link is 2560 megahertz which is probably an error but alarming if true.
Im pretty sure A LOT of people not prioritize 1) build quality (test it, feel it) And 2) warranty/return policy (preferably after sales service experience shared by reseller) please please triple check with salesperson retailer Specs dont lie but Quality Control does
Laptop prices are going up and down like rollercoasters. My mid-range laptop was somewhere between €518 and €650. I was lucky for and bought it at the right time with 16GB RAM.
Another good vid. I agree with all you say, except for implying that 300nits of screen brightness is not enough. It is for most users (provided the screen has a matte finish), unless they're constantly working outdoors in direct sunlight. 250nits and below is where it starts get difficult even in standard office environments.
That isn't what i'm saying. Yes you can see with 300 nits, but everything on screen will be larger to compensate for the lower brightness. If you try a laptop with 400 nits and high resolution, you'll see more content on screen, which most people will find more useful
5:35 - that sounds like a good tip. But personally I would be a bit hesitant to buy a laptop, try it out and then return it, as it would harm the seller who would have to sell it as open box instead of new. I've returned a couple of things before, but only when the item was defective.
I have a doubt , i plan on getting a laptop from the US. I live in india , my budgets 800 dollars , im planning on getting the best bang for my buck and im leaning more towards gaming laptops , what suggestions do u guys have ? Im ready to let the gaming thing go if i get smtg like the zenbook 14x for 700
Still waiting for Yoga Slim 7 Gen 8, it is lighter than compatriots(1.3kg) and has nice prices, but my main concern is new OLED - PureSight with DC-dimming. Would be nice to compare it to other OLEDs - like HP or even Legion.
@@cristi_mx got a yoga pro 7 a few weeks ago (7840hs without dGPU), I like it so far. If you're going to buy it, I'd recommend checking the screen before the purchase (or buying from a store that accepts returns). My unit had a dead pixel, though it disappeared after a week of use
Lenovo 5i pro or dell g16 i7 13th gen vs i9 13th gen Both has 4060 16 gb vs 32 gb ram 500 nits vs 300 nits Has Numpad vs no numpad Both are nearly the same price which one should i buy?
Hey Josh, great video, I'm a student in college and I own a base Macbook Air M1, I think it's brightness has been reducing from when I first got the laptop, can you try to check whether Apple reduces peak brightness of their Macbooks year over year. Thanks.
I tried the LG gram 2 in 1 laptop 16 inch ( i7 1360P ). It is an excellent laptop. The only major issue is after half an hour of use the bottom gets super hot and burns your laps. Not sure you reviewed it in the past..
idk why in romania all macbooks are just expensier like the m3 base model is 2000 dollars when its only 1700 dollars without discounts in usa thats just not fair considering we are so much poorer
Do you think the new Imac with 24 GB would be good for photoediting? I just started working as a photographer and don’t know what the best decision is😮Would love to hear what you recommend! Ps i already own the m2 macbook air (8gb), but editing the amount of photos is too much for this device😂
Hey Josh I am so sad that I didn’t know about framework 13 before getting my Lenovo 14 Yoga 7 gen 7 AMD version. Now I am stuck with it and can’t have a good deal anywhere to resell it 😢
Is there anything particular you dislike about your current laptop? If it gets the job done, just enjoy your purchase. There will always be better deals out there after you buy a device, second-guessing these decisions won't make you happier
So from your video "Best Laptop for Programming in 2023 ULTIMATE GUIDE" would this fill in the check marks? Software Development, Data Science, or Data Analyst?
thanks for the good content Do you think an Asus 14x with i9 13900h and 32 ram is too overkill for a beginner programmer like me? (i’m planning on gaming on it in my free time too.)
You wont probably get the full i9 performance. A 14x most likely only has one fan and it cant cool a full power processor. 32 gb of ram is a benefit if you plan to use multiple vm's. If you want to game try to get a dedicated graphics card. In a 14x the gpu wattage is quite low.
Thank you very much for the efforts!! I watched all your videos so i can pick the best laptop for my business work.... I failed to decide!!! According to you, Lenovo is the best pick but my company IT refuse to understand that. For Companies NO GO for non-Dell laptop; I know you did not like the Dell XPS and neither linus tech tips were impressed by 9440 which is considered the top of the line! QUESTIONS to you that could be the subject of a new video: Why do Big companies consider only DELL and refuse other brands? is it time to change?
I'm having trouble finding a laptop for 1 thousand or below for music production, Where I need high single core clock speeds and less cores in general. Please can you help Ive spent days on this and Its black friday I dont want anything to sell out. I'm not sure what I should get
Laptop retail buying mess. Anyone know if DELL can give me a trade in for a new but opened LAPTOP (toward a desktop) I bought retail. Bottom line now, is I just received HP Envy 360 with all the features I want, at a good price form HP online. 3 delivery NYC. I bought non-returnable DELL XPS 9530 at retail, without some features I want; not aware of it. The industry has changed the features and design so much - I did not realize! The model not on display and I've had other DELL laptop since 2015 and DELL XSP desktop since 2016..
Hello, do you think you could review the HP Elitebook 845 G10 with 7840u? With a student discount and it being on sale, you can pick up for $1200 USD. Thanks so much!
Hi everyone! I would appreciate your opinion on my next laptop. I live in Italy and here the market is a little bit different from the US one: with a similar price, with and without offers, I can buy these laptops for roughly 1600€, maybe less with black Friday. That said, I will use them as a student but I want to perform some gaming from these laptops. The options are: Asus Zenbook 14x with i9 and rtx3050 4gb Lenovo Yoga pro (in US, Slim) 9i 14 with i7 and rtx4050 6gb Lenovo Yoga pro 7i with a i7 and rtx4050 6gb
If the prices are equivalent, I would much rather get the 4050 than the 3050, the larger VRAM buffer and support for DLSS frame generation will keep it usable for longer. So it looks like you're going with one of the Yoga laptops, which one you get I guess depends on the size you want.
@@BenjaminRodriguezReyes that's the catch, are both 14' and I can't figure out what are the differences between those two yoga laptops, even if they have the same specs
Do you think I should wait for a better offer or should I buy it now? Also, thank you for the video, you have reduced the research that would take 1-2 hours to 15 minutes, you are a very good channel.
Every month there's a new device and every month people ask the same thing of waiting for the next release, and the next one, and the next one...Just buy what you need when you need it because chances are, any decent modern day laptop will be good to use for at least the next 3-4 years. Don't worry about it.
@@adequatequality My current financial situation is not very good, so my question is about making the most of November. Should I buy it now or can I get a better discount on November 24th?
@@adequatequalityMy budget is 900 -1050 dolar.I don't have a brand obsession. It is enough that its ergonomics, warmth and technical features are good. I want to use it for programming and gaming.
What do you think of this laptop it’s going on sale in Walmart ASUS ROG Strix G16 (2023) Gaming Laptop, 16” 16:10 FHD 165Hz, GeForce RTX 4050, Intel Core i5-13450HX, 16GB DDR5, 1TB PCIe SSD, Wi-Fi 6E, Windows 11, G614JU-NS54
Hey Joshua, I have a question. I want to go to uni (businesses administration) next year and I need a new laptop as soon as possible. Should I get a m2 with 16gb ram and 256 GB ssd, m2 withe 8 gb ram and 512 gb ssd or a m1 with 16gb ram and 512 ssd (refurbished from Apple) ? I really appreciate your help. And greetings from Germany.
I'm not Josh but you're much better off with the 3rd option. M1 is plenty powerful, the only reason to buy M2 or M3 is if you want to compile code or render faster. 16 GB ram is the minimum decent ram for smooth multitasking and 512 SSD is the perfect storage amount
I absolutely hate to sound like an Apple fanboy but 99% of the issues stem from Windows laptops and the shortcuts some manufacturers take. They need to take a page out of Apple’s book, maybe not in terms of the pricing, but certainly from the design and user experience aspect.
Depends on what you're using your laptop for. If you value battery life, then the HP Pavillion Plus from this year. If you need raw CPU performance, then the Asus Zenbook 14X.
There's a reason these companies like McAfee and Norton have to market themselves to the point of almost forcing their apps onto your device. Anti-virus software is dying and they've got these big contracts with Windows laptop manufacturers to push their service for a kickback. It's kinda dreadful tbh.
Most people own Windows laptops as opposed to Mac, so when it comes down to antivirus protection Windows Defender is developed software for Windows that's all you will need. So don't waste your money on other developers.😀
I just checked and they are all working. In fact many people are browsing each one right now. These link to Google Sheets. Do you normally have trouble accessing that? @@mustafauludogann
Hey Josh, just narrowed down two laptop choices with similar prices in Australia from Lenovo Black Friday sales Lenovo Yoga Pro 9i 14 (i9-13905H with RTX 4060 80w) with 32GB ram and 1TB SSD ~$1950 Lenovo Legion Slim 5 14 (Ryzen 9 7940HS with RTX 4060 120w) with 32GB ram and 1TB SSD ~ $2350 From the sheets, I see that the main complaint of the Yoga/slim pro 9i vs the Legion Slim 5 was that the CPU and GPU performance weren't as good as the Legion, but now they have upgraded it to the 9i instead of the 7i CPU and matched the legion with a 4060 RTX, basically upgrading the CPU/GPU. At this point, since the Yoga/Slim Pro has better heat/fan noise control and a much better screen and keyboard, which one would you recommend me to buy? And would the Legion still have better gaming performance than the Slim Pro 9i considering that it is categorised as a gaming laptop? Edit: outside of uni, I mainly use an external monitor and keyboard to game. So how much of an improvement does the keyboard and screen really make?
I can't remember but the Yoga Pro 9i is a MUCH nicer laptop. Not even in the same ball park as the Legion 5 14. BUT.... as you said you use an external monitor and keyboard at home, so that negates some of that. I would add Asus G14 to that. Perhaps you can get an RTX 4070 for your money with that one? I don't know Aussie prices (even though I am an Aussie)
Hi,first let me agree, your mother should be proud Your videos are helpful and honest! Look, I have been watching an insane amount of TH-cam in my "quest " for a laptop, and just like the "grail" it is turning into a fruitless pursuit ! I was certain the answer was to get a Lenovo Slim 7, great specs and performance, I visited it at Best Buy,and I didn't like the way it looked or felt. Lol . I loved the look and feel of the Lenovo Yoga 7 (2 in 1),but I don't want a 2 in one, and it probably can't even game. So, is there a model that looks like it, just maybe a little thicker, and with more power, oh and can it be at least 16 inch ? I am trying to write,so gaming is secondary, but I would like to run cloud gaming and some games my ps5 doesn't allow.... Also, I discovered another discount on Lenovo's site, verifying your 55+ can get you around 100 off, scaling according to price. Any suggestions would be gratefully received at this point...
I've seen quite a lot of videos from this guy. To be honest, he seems biased and favours a lot of Apple and Asus products. FTR, it doesn't matter how many fancy degrees you pursued, the information doesn't reflect nor depict any fair reviews across all brands and products. Give us more than just breadcrumbs! All in all none of the tech has been ground breaking apart from a few brands. Despite many others releasing innovative gimmicks as an attempt to out do Apple. My money is on Lenovo and I can't wait for next year's inventory, (when I'll decide to buy.) This year's launch has been so overwhelming! But Mac is clearly the winner. And that's hard for a Windows lover to say
I'd go for one with a large screen like: Legion Slim 7 (RTX 4060) @ $1,289 - $390 OFF: geni.us/9an2j17 MacBook Pro 16 (M3 Pro) @ $2,299 - $200 OFF: geni.us/El1F

Fan noise under load isn't too much of an issue IMO. What's more annoying is when a laptop constantly ramps the fans up and down under normal use, instead of running at a lower stable RPM or only occasionally turning on fans. My old VAIO did that and it was extremely annoying.
Your videos are the best :) keep it up!
Great videos, helped me with my most recent purchase of the Acer Predator (name too long)
Hi. What are your thoughts about "ASUS - Zenbook 14" 120Hz OLED Touch Laptop - EVO Intel 13 Gen Core i9 with 32GB Memory - NVIDIA GeForece RTX 3050 - 1TB"? Is it worth it?
Great video! Keep it up!
I own MSI STEALTH 16 Studio. After I refresh the Windows 11 and turn off some service. I didn't use MSI Afterburn. I confirm it gets 5 hours and 40 min at 100% battery life.
Wow did I really came here even before the Discord notification?
Just picked up the Stealth 14 for $1100. Enjoying it so far.
We are aiming to get there, but we need a bit more growth first
I miss the BIG sale! Does anyone know when they go on sale again?
Hey Josh, Love the compiled links, thank you. Just a note.
The Lenovo Slim Pro 7 link goes to a machine that has 7735HS as opposed to 7840HS, just doesn't go with the configuration you've mentioned in the excel. Also the bus speed on the RAM in the affiliate link is 2560 megahertz which is probably an error but alarming if true.
We will fix. Thank you for that!!
great advices, bravo
Just waited 2 months and bought the most powerfull laptop with RTX 4090 for 2800$ instead of 4800$

And 2) warranty/return policy (preferably after sales service experience shared by reseller) please please triple check with salesperson retailer

Thank you for your content. It helped me a lot to save money.
Im eyeing out this model and the yoga pro 7 14.5
@@cristi_mx got a yoga pro 7 a few weeks ago (7840hs without dGPU), I like it so far. If you're going to buy it, I'd recommend checking the screen before the purchase (or buying from a store that accepts returns). My unit had a dead pixel, though it disappeared after a week of use
This channel is impressive. I'm so glad youtube suggested it to me. Very entertaining and informative stuff. Please keep it up
Lenovo 5i pro or dell g16
i7 13th gen vs i9 13th gen
Both has 4060
16 gb vs 32 gb ram
500 nits vs 300 nits
Has Numpad vs no numpad
Both are nearly the same price which one should i buy?
Is ROG Flow x13 2022 is good for programmers( who sometimes play games)? I am considering this laptop and want to know more about that
Hi Josh what are your thoughts on the M2 Mac mini and the M2 Pro Mac mini?
Well explained thnx

Any recommendations on the best laptop for Telecommunications engineering course?
should i get zephyrus g15 or g16? (considering the fact that they are around the same price)
I reviewed last years, I didn't like it tbh
idk why in romania all macbooks are just expensier like the m3 base model is 2000 dollars when its only 1700 dollars without discounts in usa thats just not fair considering we are so much poorer
Do you think the new Imac with 24 GB would be good for photoediting? I just started working as a photographer and don’t know what the best decision is😮Would love to hear what you recommend! Ps i already own the m2 macbook air (8gb), but editing the amount of photos is too much for this device😂
Do you have any good laptop suggestions with an i7 and 16 GB of RAM for around $600? I was thinking about the HP Envy x360 15.
Hey Josh, what do you think about Rog zephyrus g16 with i9 and rtx 4070??
I'm looking for a 2in1 Laptop with +15" and a numpad with a resolution over FullHD. Can you give me a tip which one i could buy?
I am so confused, should a get a 2.8k QLED display or a FHD OLED display? Please reply!!!
hey josh does mac air m1 still viable today I'm new computer science student looking for reliable laptop with great battery life, I don't play games
Hello, do you have an off the cuff opinion on which processor would be better for battery life? 7780hs vs i7-1360p? Thank you!
They are both bad for that. Sorry
Software Development, Data Science, or Data Analyst?
thanks for the good content
Do you think an Asus 14x with i9 13900h and 32 ram is too overkill for a beginner programmer like me?
Hey josh what do you think about asus rog flow x13 2022. Love from India ❤
I'm having trouble finding a laptop for 1 thousand or below for music production, Where I need high single core clock speeds and less cores in general. Please can you help Ive spent days on this and Its black friday I dont want anything to sell out. I'm not sure what I should get
At 8:00 I was really scared of you just dropping a VPN Sponsorship :D
Lol

The options are:
Asus Zenbook 14x with i9 and rtx3050 4gb
Lenovo Yoga pro (in US, Slim) 9i 14 with i7 and rtx4050 6gb
Lenovo Yoga pro 7i with a i7 and rtx4050 6gb
@@user-ho1md2wi5s Buy what now? What brand of laptop? What's your budget? You have to be a bit more specific than just saying "should I buy it now".
@@adequatequalityMy budget is 900 -1050 dolar.I don't have a brand obsession. It is enough that its ergonomics, warmth and technical features are good.

The MacBook Pro 14 M3 Pro link does NOT work. It goes to M2 link ...
Thanks, link has been updated but unfortunately sale has changed
Apple does price match though up to 10%, your friend could have gotten it at the Apple store and still paid $1800.
Thank you, I will tell her. The main point is to be aware of what sales are occuring

I need a laptop for college, would you recommend HP Pavilion Plus or Zenbook 14 or the 14x
Depends on what you're using your laptop for. If you value battery life, then the HP Pavillion Plus from this year.
If you need raw CPU performance, then the Asus Zenbook 14X.
@@cameronbosch1213 I will be using it mostly for assignments and casual gaming .
Pavilion is a low-end lineup, ZenBook 14 and 14x are high-end. It's like comparing Tesla model to a Honda Civic.
I would not buy a new laptop unless you can somehow install Win 7 or linux these new O/S are a HUGE part of the problem.

Legion Slim 7 (AMD)

7:25 Imagine people purchasing third-party anti-virus software in 2023 when Microsoft has included it since 2012 in Windows itself...
There's a reason these companies like McAfee and Norton have to market themselves to the point of almost forcing their apps onto your device. Anti-virus software is dying and they've got these big contracts with Windows laptop manufacturers to push their service for a kickback. It's kinda dreadful tbh.
2:54 No way, screw Reddit.
Hey Josh, Trilogy Media's link is 404 not found.
Fixed. Thanks Cameron. They were all broken :(
Most people own Windows laptops as opposed to Mac, so when it comes down to antivirus protection Windows Defender is developed software for Windows that's all you will need. So don't waste your money on other developers.😀

Hey Josh, just narrowed down two laptop choices with similar prices in Australia from Lenovo Black Friday sales
Lenovo Yoga Pro 9i 14 (i9-13905H with RTX 4060 80w) with 32GB ram and 1TB SSD ~$1950
Lenovo Legion Slim 5 14 (Ryzen 9 7940HS with RTX 4060 120w) with 32GB ram and 1TB SSD ~ $2350
From the sheets, I see that the main complaint of the Yoga/slim pro 9i vs the Legion Slim 5 was that the CPU and GPU performance weren't as good as the Legion, but now they have upgraded it to the 9i instead of the 7i CPU and matched the legion with a 4060 RTX, basically upgrading the CPU/GPU.
Your mother will be very proud about this video
I will let her know!
My money is on Lenovo and I can't wait for next year's inventory, (when I'll decide to buy.)
This year's launch has been so overwhelming! But Mac is clearly the winner. And that's hard for a Windows lover to say
