In Nigeria we use the hot water press just like is done in Uganda. We also eat hot pepper soup with herbs to push out clot blood from the stomach in order to allow your inside tummy to heal.

So interesting the concept of confinement. Here in the USA there is no confinement period. But we take maternity leave for sometimes up to 6 months before returning to work. Breastfeeding also makes your body go back to normal size. Thank you for sharing, so very interesting!

Gladys i was born in Suriname (the Caribbean) but i am living for 50 years in Europe. Suriname people also have the traditions of hot water after birth. They also cook the water , than put it in a towel and than go sit on it ( with tools))and cover their whole body under a blanket and massage their belly. something like a steam bath. In the olden days in Ghana my grandma told me if you are a first time mom after birth you have to stay away from sex for six months and the hot water to press on your stomach is good it brings out the left clot in your stomach to come out
Massaging your body with hot water will help ease labour pains on your joint.That can be done for 2 to 3 weeks after child birth.If you have a swollen leg which is common to new mum because you are not moving around,get a stool that is equal to the seat you are sitting on and place your legs,for some days,the water will automatically frezzle out.No need to massage with hot water.

Gladys ,we do similar thing in Nigeria, it's an African thing.Massaging your stomach with hot water will hasten the blood in your stomach (clout) to flow out faster and will allow your stomach come down as fast as possible,though if you breastfeed well, it will still come down gradually.Some of us that went through CS don't massagge with hot water, your stomach will still go down.Always massage your breast with hot water early in the morning for easy flow and if you want to keep milk for him for later use,make sure you keep it in the refrigerator.

Gladys ,we do similar thing in Nigeria, it's an African thing.Massaging your stomach with hot water will hasten the blood in your stomach (clout) to flow out faster and will allow your stomach come down as fast as possible,though if you breastfeed well, it will still come down gradually.Some of us that went through CS don't massagge with hot water, your stomach will still go down.Always massage your breast with hot water early in the morning for easy flow and if you want to keep milk for him for later use,make sure you keep it in the refrigerator.

U r looking good. ❤❤❤❤In my tradition u stay in confinement for 2 to 3 months. We have a hot salt water bath. We drink a lot of rooibos tea for milk production. Eating well. We also do the stomach wrapping.

Also another thing our mothers use to do on our first baby bathing with hot water and sitting on very hot water and let the steam comes up it helps the blood inside to onclog U have to do it in a way u can’t get burn
