As a drummer, I can get into what he's talking about because the first time I heard Holdsworth's music, it was the "Road Games" album and I was in a musical state of shock ever since, especially considering that I heard the album when it first came out. That was also the first time I heard Jeff Berlin. AMAZING!!
Jimmy Johnson had a band called Flim & the BB's. They had some CDs out in the 80s. He also played bass for the Wayne Johnson Trio. Check out their albums, Arrowhead, and Grasshopper. It's great stuff!
I saw Allan, Jimmy and Chad in Wash,. DC area a while back. You want to check out Jimmy Johnson's stuff, check out "Flim & The BBs". Flim is Jimmy's nickname. They have around a half a dozen albums. But, imo Jeff Berlin "Road Games" because Jeff is such a monster and they had history with "Bruford".
Every incredible musicians who has contributed to Allan's music has addeds oemthign special, but for my taste, on the bass I particularly loved Skuli and Jeff.
Evan is amazingly musical, his technical and melodic grasp of music is unique and extremely enjoyable. He is a true artist and pioneer
I’d love to see a roundtable of all of the Holdsworth bassists discuss their approach to decoding his tunes!
Same here but, all musicians would be accepted on my panel. But, I guess I got that on the A.H. tribute that a ton of great musicians talk
This man danced with the legend. You can hear his profound respect for Allans unique approach to music…Allan will always be number one in my book.
Jimmy Johnson is SUCH a badass! Evan, your humility is rad. I'm glad you got a chance to play with Allan.
What a wonderful young man, great musician. I was this guy, exactly, 40 years ago. I'm still a full time pro. Don't ever stop brother!

Jeff Berlin was Allan's bassist in the early '80s and they use to gig with the Dixie Dregs. You probably can TH-cam it.
Much appreciated
