    Thanks for posting. For the 21 thumbdown votes. What are these people wanting. You posted a video about agate hunting, edited out some of the wandering moments while on the hunt, good video of what you are finding in your area. I am just saying, some people suck. This is a good video for what it is supposed to be. Keep including us on your adventures. Unfortunately in MD the rocks are much less interesting.

    345 rock may have been a combination of sodalite and brown chert. Banded rock after that looked like layered slate.

    That half as big as a car boulder is a classic agate/jaspar accretion.

      I look in construction sites that have a lot of gravel in the ground. However, the geology is different there than here. I am in the Twin Cities and this area was a glacial deposit area for agates from the Lake Superior basin. I would think the best places are gravel shore lines and any open pits in your area. Also, ask the locals there or look for any rock collecting clubs up there. Good luck!

    Can you find agate in Ohio? I’m fairly new to rock hounding and I’m not sure. And is it best to go by rivers?

      River/lake beds are awesome for rock hunting

      Ohio flint at Flint Ridge, towards Zanesville, Muskingum County, Ohio. Some is very colorful. Good for knapping arrow heads or cabing, or tumbling. Some beautiful stuff.

    Nice hunt. The rabbit is licking your house because the mortar is salty. If you buy a block of salt like horses get, they will stop licking your house. Awesome to see that though.

      Dave Eden .... Not sure in Illinois. A good resource is probably the university of Illinois or the state department of natural resources.

      Precambrian glacial deposit fossils. And agates. Possibly native artifacts if lucky. Geodes and semi precious stones like turquoise etc.

    how much are agate worth

    • @foundit7498
      @foundit7498  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dave Eden ... Some can be worth hundreds even thousands, but those are pretty rare. Most agates are minimal value. Some smaller intricate agates can have better value to jewelry makers, maybe a buck or two.

    • @crucifyrobinhood
      @crucifyrobinhood 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not to dispute FOUND IT! but quality agate is worth way more than gold. Look at some genuine Ellensburg Blue or some of the insane Tibetan agates to get a real feel for what is going on.
