Back with its owners. So we left him at the local store because they said they had seen the doggo before and that the owners were in the area. The owners saw the pup that afternoon and took him home. He had been missing for a couple of days!
Man, your videos are so much fun looking I just couldn't take it anymore. I had to take the family out hunting. We went up north to our cabin, checked out a small beach where a few weeks ago we found some different quartz. But it was already picked over. We followed the train track back to our cabin and Holy crap found a bunch of different jasper. We also found some golf ball size quartz and some chert. So much fun hunting with my wife and kids, it started raining on us and it made it easier to see the rocks. I found this crazy green rock, so bold in color with yellowish oh most like webbing mixed in it, super cool. Thanks to your videos I kind of had an idea what to look for. Still in the early stages, but I will get there soon! This video was awesome by the way way better find then I did, but one day I hope to pull out big ass agates and other beautiful rocks out of the creek/river. The dog was super cool in this video as well. Keep up the awesome work!
Heyyyy! So good news is that his forever family lived about 100 meters from the shop that tied him up and said he had gotten out about 3 days before. They were super grateful. Seriously so happy we found his home for him again. 😁👍
Oh he was just too cool, and I thought he’d run away instantly back home but he was content spending the morning with us. A very cool experience indeed. He found his family in the end also. So great news there! 😁
that dog is what you would call a rockhound. had to throw in my lame dad joke lol. Just found your channel, its really awesome! thanks for being so kind to the dog, he seemed like a good pup :)
Rock hounding is a beautiful addiction. There's something special about harvesting fat hunks of glimmering quartz and other curiosities from gurgling stream beds that no one would have ever seen if not for you.
It’s just the best isn’t it, I love that feeling as you head out to your favourite spot and you’re not sure what’s gonna happen but that it’s gonna be a great day! Have an awesome weekend my friend and happy hounding!!!!!
Well put. The addiction part is also a great way to get people out into the wilderness again, which is always the real treasure no matter what you're doing in it. We've lost that, and it's bad for everyone because man was born there and was never really meant to leave. He was given heaven and everything he needed to enrich his soul, and he traded it for a gizmo with lights in it that causes cancer in laboratory animals and a factory hardhat. He's been miserable ever since, and when he hangs that hardhat on the nail at the end of the day, he has the audacity to look for heaven in the sky. Thoreau said "simplicity, simplicity, simplicity", and he was right. Me, I just say "go rock hounding".
That blue rock in the beginning was gorgeous but that dog was definitely a rockhound. You found some really awesome rocks on this adventure. Thanks so much for sharing.
I'm a rock hound myself and I just discovered you guys . Rock hunting is so addicting . Started 30 years ago and on my way to the mountains in 3 days . Can hardly wait . That's where I find my most beautiful ones.
I wish I had friends like you guys here , you guys just focus on those rocks! No one I know cares about rocks as much as I do and we live near a volcanic area from millions of years ago and peridot is everywhere in the desert! They are beautiful crystals of olivine and horneblend. Not everyone shares my enthusiasm about rocks. But the nice thing is on my birthday instead of getting me gifts they will bring me beautiful rocks they found and I am so gratefull for that. Love your rock videos! I love watching you guys look for rocks.
Oh that’s so true isn’t it, I am always trying to convince my friends of how great the hobby is, I’m just lucky that Benny loved it as much as me when I first showed him 😊 Thank you for your beautiful comment!
Crystal and Robert Dominguez where do you live? I love peridot. I live in Salt Lake and there is supposedly a great deal of peridot near me, somewhere.
I was in a hurry watching this last night but dayum... this puts some perspective on what I’m finding in the desert. Yours are bluer and oranger and bigger. I’m in California living on an old stagecoach trail. 👋🏽🤠🌵🌾 love your enthusiasm, I can’t go anywhere without hounding anymore. It IS addiction in the best way. ❤️🥰❤️
Haha! I’m so the same, I open the car door on a gravel parking lot and I could take days to get to the entrance 🤣 Yeah we get spoilt out here for material. It also is that spot in particular, it has some really rich colours to it. 😁👍 Happy hounding mate!
I absolutely love the positive vibes from y'all. Positively infectious! Would be a super hoot to hound around with. Thanks for the post and keep the content coming! Peace and freedom from so-cal😎👍
Wish I had a friend like these two are! I'm always picking up interesting bits of rock in our gravel roads. Most of it's glacial till. Golf balls and smaller. Great day of being out doing what you love. You two have inspired me to load my little rock tumbler again today. Thanks and cheers
Oh it’s honestly one of my favourite videos this one. It was a funny old day out there. And the dog got to his owners as well which just made us super happy!
That’s a good question, but I can’t honestly say. It’s probably not a stone that has a carat worth that is the same for each piece like a diamond does. It’s more about what can be done with it and the quality of the stone as in if it’s fractured or unique. But it’s definitely a great question. I think I’m gonna have to look into it a bit more. @Casper Rah
I just love watching you guys hunt for rocks, the whole time Im watching, Im thinking I wouldnt have left the 1st spot...there was so much there. I loved the dog also, he looked so sweet. Thanks for sharing!
Haha! I think that a lot myself too, about leaving one spot haha! Thank for the kind comment, and you’ll be happy to know the owners of the dog lived right near the shop and saw him that day. I felt so good knowing he found his family!
Oh thank you, and the best news was that we went past a month later and the shop keeper told us that the owner of the dog basically lived a few doors down ha! So we found his family!
Yeah he was a sweet little dude. His family found him that day as well. He escaped a couple days before we saw him and lived right near the shop we left him at. It made me so happy to know he found his family!
lizzymoore54 Hey Lizzy, thank you 😁 yeah he was just an awesome little rockhound buddy. The people at the shop were lovely about it and said they think they knew where he was from, so hopefully they found him his family.
Hey! Thank you, I consider us lucky to have found both. Right place at the right time. He’s was a lovely buddy to head hang out with for the morning. A true rockhound.
Hi guys. It looks so beautiful there. thanks for sharing, maybe one day I might get there. I have never found agates in creeks like that, only on dry dirt, but same thing. love your dog.💜💜💜💜💚💚💚💚
Thank you Judith, it definitely is one of my favourite spots, and pastimes too haha! Very lucky to have the geographical locations near us here in south east Queensland. 😁😁😁
Oh gosh why did I say bill??? So sorry Olivia! I wasn’t sure you were asking sorry. Best way is to google places in your area and rock collecting or mineral collecting. Also just exploring and looking down sometimes. But joining a gem club or lapidary club in your local area would be best. I hope this helps.
The dog is so adorable !! You got some nice find there awesome when you get some of them cut I would love to see it ..thanks hope you have a wonderful day.
Hello from CANADA! We Gold pan and hound for agate etc too! Really enjoyed this video. Hanging out in rivers is as good as it gets. Love Australia been twice in three years!!! Cheers!
Heyyyyyyyyy there from Australia!!! Thanks for stopping by bud! Hangin our in rivers and creeks is where I recharge and reconnect, isn’t it just the best! Happy hounding and if you ever find yourself back in Australia and on the south east coast of Qld give me a shout, we can take you to some fun and beautiful places for rock finding 😁👍💎
I love that agate that looked like a half-eaten mochi! they are all incredible pieces. I wish I could go there in your location. Your rock adventure is so cool! I did some rock hounding 2 weeks ago in a beach, northern Philippines, i only found some agate and chalcedony chips, but I'm, proud of them :)
Day Off Mama Yeah I loved that piece, it’s really pretty. That’s awesome you were able to find some, it’s so much fun! Happy hounding and rock times!!!!!
Absolutely LOVE that you included the doggie rescue in this video! I think that dog was meant to be your dog lol. Wherever you are sure is a gem lovers paradise! I so wish I had more time and money to do nothing but travel the world doing this very thing!

I love seeing more rockhounding vids pop up, fills the void on days where I'm too busy to hound or the weather is too shit. Although, I hope this hobby doesn't become too popular. That would mean less treasure for me.
Haha! Other people hav actually said that before. Man he was a legend. Very sad. Thanks for enjoying the vids! I have to agree with you though, selfishly I hope it doesn’t get too popular 🤣😂🤣
Friday again? Dang i'm getting old! Nice sunrise and a great day of finds sir. The freshly stirred and washed gravels sure make spotting glowing goodness easier!👍 Rockhounds meet rockhound, rock dogs are so funny~ Great job getting him out of the creek and hopefully one step closer to home, if I could I'd give you a billion thumbs up for just being a good human being and watching out for those creatures who cannot do everything themselves. Not sure why they call them gravel "beds", I'm too busy searching and digging to lay down but you seem to have some good ones there at that creek with carnelian joy blessing your fossicking bags. Holy smokes cannot tell you how much I love the mixture of minerals you guys are finding in a single location and everytime you pull up a big piece on video i'm practically crawling through the screen screaming, "freak I wanna cut that!!!!" There's a place up north in Washington famous for blue agate called Ellensberg blue but ironically, it doesn't come from there, 35 million years ago a river crossed through the nearby mountain range and swept what material they find there down into the valley. It's a fairly difficult/rare find anymore with most of the folks who know of good spots keeping those close held secrets so don't go telling everyone where you are getting that luxurious blue treasure. Think it's time for you to head upstream and find the source of all that is wondrous and uplifting filling your pockets! Each time you two find another nice specimen is really awesome and gives me the feeling of when I'm out searching even when I'm not, thanks so much for sharing all the tasty treats with us sedentary tubers. (stuffed with turkey from yesterday and would drown out hunting today) PS. Who quits hunting after only 1/2 day? What's that all about, dawn to dusk is the best hunting as you get light at every angle IMO. Tell Benny a crazy tuber from the states is demanding more effort! haha 🤣 Thanks again gentlemen~
Backcountry with Shaughn Haha! Gravel “beds”. That’s a good point man, maybe it’s for when we find amazing massive pieces it’s where we can lay down and catch our breath lol! I watched an information session on those blue agate a while back, so interesting to see how far they travelled from the original source hey. Geology is nuts. Yeah the real life rockhound, what a gentle little soul he is man, I’m gonna stop in next time and see where he ended up. Definitely working our way upstream to where the source hopefully is. We found a spot on the map where it shows no creek, yet there’s one there, so we may start there and work our way down soon. Fingers crossed, you never know with this creek, it’s a moody one if rocks were emotions. If that makes sense haha! Sometimes great others just nothin. Makes it fun though. Oh yeah, haha! When Benny left I thought the same thing but we had our uncle out there with us for his first time to show him how fun it is but he had to head home. It’s so much better with others out there with ya though. Happy thanks giving good sir! Turkey coma’s are real man. Take care bud until next time!
I love that you guys are 'local' I get covetous of all the american cool crystal finds, its good to know there is treasure here at home too! Thanks for the uploads X
I really enjoy these treasure hunts. I love these stones you share with us. Sometimes, though, while you're examining one piece closely, i'll spot another on shoal. Like something green at 700. May just have been a leaf. Still drives me crazy 'i can't reach out and pick it up. Ah well, the one that got away. Thanks all the same for the fun.
Oh man I know exactly what you are talking about. I get the same thing happening when I watch others videos. It always happens hahaha! At the same time I’m sure there’s plenty that we walk straight over the top of 😣🤣
Thirst Fast Haha! Yeah man, a real life rock hound. Pretty cool hey. Oh I know I love the colours at this spot. They’re a lot richer orange. Thanks Thirst!
I don't think I could have given the dog back after he started finding rocks for you. Great video. I'm surprised your friend didn't throw you in the creek after you kept finding all those glowing golf balls.
Of course I made it to the end. Lol. Those creeks are full of wonder. I would like to see more of the big rocks ( not boulders). Nonetheless, thank you for sharing. I enjoyed it.
Ruby D Haha! I wondered if anyone would see that 🤣🤣🤣 Thank you Ruby! Oh I know, I’m gonna head back out there soon, I want to see if I can find some bigger guys. Fingers crossed 😁
Would be a great spot for using a three prong steel claw with wooden handle to really dig down into that beautiful gravel. I use a claw sometimes but it is rather small. I also see people use short handled steel rakes which work nice in conjunction with a small 24 inch pointed shovel. Very pretty carnelian, guys. Have fun!!
Woah... a three prong steel claw!? What is this? It sounds amazing! Its Google time!!!!!! Thanks so much Anton, I’ve actually been thinking what would I find if we went below the surface... hmmm, I do believe an experiment is in order!
This was so satisfying!!!!!!! 😍😍🥰 I pick with my sister along the Mississippi River in MN, I think the biggest ones we tend to find at our spot are a lil more than quarter size so these were phenomenal!!!!! 😂😂😂
Awesome material .. carnelian rocks ! ( pun absolutely intended 😉 ) .. it's very similar to our material in the watersheds of southwest Washington State , carnelian and chalcedony from the ancient precursors of Mount St. Helens
Oh man that means so much! I love your guy’s videos, the last one with the camper made me wish I was there with you guys enjoying the nature. Thank you for what you create man. Seriously love it
It's amazing brother!wouw....white chalcedony in my place is usually called cimpago. when placed with copper powder the color will turn blue. this color change process takes several months. Good job Brother.
DEAD POOL Ah Cimpago, that’s cool to know, oh is that how they get the rich blue colour on some agate slices, by placing them in copper powder? Very cool! Thanks bud!
Yeah he was brilliant, but I couldn’t take him from his family. They ended up spotting him at the cafe we left him at and said he had got out a few days before. But definitely was rad meeting a true rockhound 😁
Where is the dog?
Back with its owners. So we left him at the local store because they said they had seen the doggo before and that the owners were in the area. The owners saw the pup that afternoon and took him home. He had been missing for a couple of days!

Thank you, we were lucky to find him, but he was such a cool little rockhounding buddy. 😊

There's a place up north in Washington famous for blue agate called Ellensberg blue but ironically, it doesn't come from there, 35 million years ago a river crossed through the nearby mountain range and swept what material they find there down into the valley.
(stuffed with turkey from yesterday and would drown out hunting today)
PS. Who quits hunting after only 1/2 day? What's that all about, dawn to dusk is the best hunting as you get light at every angle IMO. Tell Benny a crazy tuber from the states is demanding more effort! haha 🤣 Thanks again gentlemen~
Backcountry with Shaughn
Haha!
Oh I know exactly what you mean though! The American crystals look amazing right!
I’m glad you enjoy the uploads Lou 😁
I really enjoy these treasure hunts. I love these stones you share with us.
Sometimes, though, while you're examining one piece closely, i'll spot another on shoal. Like something green at 700. May just have been a leaf. Still drives me crazy 'i can't reach out and pick it up. Ah well, the one that got away.
Thanks all the same for the fun.
Oh man I know exactly what you are talking about. I get the same thing happening when I watch others videos. It always happens hahaha! At the same time I’m sure there’s plenty that we walk straight over the top of 😣🤣

Imagine all that might be buried an inch under the soil.
I mean, a centimeter or two.
Awesome finds
I find carnelian agate and chalcedony on the Platte River in northern missouri every week. Ive found some similarly very nice pieces. Nice video.
I miss rockhounding..love your channel.✌❤

Absolutely Mother Earth is wondrous. My GOD, Merry Christmas '18
Thank you and merry Christmas also to you and yours. Mother Nature is most definitely awesome!
I love the blueys, but that carnelian agate was a beauty! And you found a genuine rock *hound!*
Thirst Fast
Haha! Yeah man, a real life rock hound. Pretty cool hey. Oh I know I love the colours at this spot. They’re a lot richer orange. Thanks Thirst!

muito obrigado pelo seu comentário gentil, isso me faz feliz!
Ruby D
Haha! I wondered if anyone would see that 🤣🤣🤣 Thank you Ruby! Oh I know, I’m gonna head back out there soon, I want to see if I can find some bigger guys. Fingers crossed 😁
Oh my gosh....I was holding my carnelian and you picked one up! So cool! How beautiful it is there! Y’all are so lucky! That place is heaven!
Haha! Awesome! It’s so beautiful, I could spend days on end out there. I agree, very lucky 😁
Awesome dog 👍
wow! watching from philippines. thsnks!
😁😁😁👍👍👍
Great finds, thanks for sharing brother take care!
Thank you brother!
Even the dog is a rock hound .🐕 He does seem to be a expert . 😎
Hahaha! Yeah he’s just not very selective about what he keeps hahaha!
yes you so welcome

@@Rookie_Rockounding thanks you for your video i look for rock in az
This was so satisfying!!!!!!! 😍😍🥰 I pick with my sister along the Mississippi River in MN, I think the biggest ones we tend to find at our spot are a lil more than quarter size so these were phenomenal!!!!! 😂😂😂
Thank you so much Maggie! Happy hounding to you and your sister!!!!!
Whereabouts do you look? I live right on the Mississippi but also go along the St Croix!
Aww I love agates and chalcedony!!! thank you for this video!

Grassguy 420
Thank you 420!
Awesome material .. carnelian rocks ! ( pun absolutely intended 😉 )
.. it's very similar to our material in the watersheds of southwest Washington State , carnelian and chalcedony from the ancient precursors of Mount St. Helens
Thanks bo! Haha! Gotta love the rock puns. Wow chalcedony from Mount St. Helens. I love the history of these rocks man. So interesting. Thanks buddy
Enjoyed the hunt thanks for sharing....
Oh man that means so much! I love your guy’s videos, the last one with the camper made me wish I was there with you guys enjoying the nature. Thank you for what you create man. Seriously love it
@@Rookie_Rockounding We watch all your stuff and thanks! Rock hounding is my other passion.
That is so cool! Thank you bud! So so much!!!!
Very nice
Thank you 😊👍
You found a great mascot, a true rock hound!😂
Loved seeing your finds, but the dog was the best
It's amazing brother!wouw....white chalcedony in my place is usually called cimpago. when placed with copper powder the color will turn blue. this color change process takes several months. Good job Brother.
DEAD POOL
Ah Cimpago, that’s cool to know, oh is that how they get the rich blue colour on some agate slices, by placing them in copper powder? Very cool! Thanks bud!
I would of kept that dog he's a rock hound to he's awesome
Yeah he was brilliant, but I couldn’t take him from his family. They ended up spotting him at the cafe we left him at and said he had got out a few days before. But definitely was rad meeting a true rockhound 😁
