The Cold Steel AD10 and the Cold Steel AD15 are both great knives that are well worth their price tag. HOWEVER...if you can only afford on of them, which one should you get? Why? Hopefully, this video can answer a couple of those questions. If you listen to me, you'll choose correctly. If you don't, you'll still be happy. :)

Why Cold Steel would not use the Tri Ad® lock on *ALL* of their folders, is a mystery...
It's a great lock. My favorite.

Had the scorpion lock in mind for years, but also purchased the ad-10 because I have an addiction that I can quit anytime and I am surprised how much it's grown on me. Feels good, smooth action and they absolutely nailed the release on the triad lock. Seems they hit a homerun with both of these!
Yeah, it's been a good year for Cold Steel, so far.
First I got the AD-10 Drop Point.
It's marvel of production, I love it best . Still do...
2nd I got the AD15 Lite.
I like to carry it better, but I still like the AD10 drop point better if I use it.
3rd I got the AD-10 Tanto. I love it much, but the AD10 drop point is still my favorite.
Then I got the AD15 regular, not lite, because I needed them all.

Saving for a AD10. Also the reason she doesn't love me anymore is where I set the Thermostat. It's always to hot according to her.
My wife is just the opposite. :)
Interestingly when I posed this question on the Slash page the answer was mostly the 15... I guess now I'll have to get the 10 as well.

These knives aren't ment to go head to head , they're brothers . Just buy them Both , for the money you can't go wrong . I have both. I bought the Scorpion lock first (about 3 days first), because its different. But , if I had to choose only one , I would go with the AD10 , the contoured g10 scales and the thick Tri AD lock are the difference for me .

Just got my AD10 today :) got lucky and found 1 in stock on DLT a few days ago... Incredible knife so far, hate the clip though, but I can fix that.
The clip is the one thing holding me back.
Have to say I like the 15 a bit more. The two are so similar in most aspects it’s almost like six of one, half dozen of the other to me, but what appeals to me about the 15 is the ease of one handed open and close compared to the Triad. I’m not that graceful and especially when I’m at work and in a hurry I’m probably more likely to guillotine my digits with a Triad lock knife (I’ve done it before) than a Scorpion lock knife. Thanks for the comparison!
I do like the scorpion lock. I saw my dad guillotine his fingers on an AD10. Ugly stuff.
Jimislash I did it with a Spartan. Had some nasty gashes across three of my fingers, down to the bone on the first one. Luckily the meat is so thin there I got away with just taping it closed, but lesson learned. Those Triad lock blades close with authority, lol.
As always love the vids bro. In all honesty I would choose the 4 Max. Not just because I already own it but because it hits every sweet spot that I'm looking for.

Would you call the Ultimate Hunter sort of a little brother to the AD10? I came around to it despite the silly name and might go for one... The S35vn version has a blade shape that I really like, sort of a penknife shape, very utilitarian. I'm sure the AD10 is a better knife all-round but being slightly smaller and lighter might swing it toward the ultimate hunter for me. Plus the AD10 isn't available in the UK and I don't see it being available any time soon 👎 would you be happy with either? Thanks for the great content!
I would definitely describe it that way. In fact, in older videos, I said that the closest thing to a custom AD10 was the Ultimate Hunter, before the AD10, of course. I love the Ultimate Hunter. It's a great knife.

Thanks for the perspective. Good to know I won't just be buying the second fiddle hahah. Ultimate hunter is £141 over here - painful but not terrible... Still cheaper than a Paramilitary 2, and sporting a better lock and better steel! Not too shabby. All the best to you sir

Iv'e wanted the 4 max for a while, then settled on getting an ultimate hunter, found out about the ad10 from one of your videos and decided to pre order and wait it out, i was so intrested in the ad15 i had to get it too. I think i might make different scales for the 15, the texture is just un necessary for me. Iv'e gotten used to the lock and open and close action is like a pm2 now to me.
You could make some money making scales for these knives.
I love the 15. I have a mg and the cs. I’m on the fence about the ad10. Kind of feel like I need to at least try one out.

I own the AD-10 and I love it! Having said that I want the AD-15 as well. ;p
Loving these knives.Was first interested in the SR1 but it seemed way too thick to be comfortable for edc, then I saw the AD10 ,15 and the ultimate hunter and it seems like an impossible choice considering all three are so good on their own.Advice ?
If you get one, get the AD10. If you get two, get the AD10 and the tanto SR1. Add the AD15, should you get 3. :)

Nice. I chose the 10 also. I absolutely love the ad10. No need for the 15 in my opinion. I rather pick up a recon 1 instead.
Even though I frequently left the toilet seat up, and was/am a life long suffering NYJ fan - Sue hung with me for 26 years before bailing. A pretty good run though, and we're still friends.

PS: If I had to pick one(I have neither right now) I'd pick the AD 15 because I already have a voyager XL, a Recon 1, and a Code 4 to rep the triad lock so the scorpion lock would be something different for me.
