This battle with Ganondorf will always hold a special place in my heart. Ganon's castle music playing as you climb the tower and thinking how far you have come since the beginning of the game. When you reach the top everything goes completely quiet. Zelda is a game with lots of sounds, but everything goes silent. Ganondorf speaks to you about how you stand no chance and the epic music kicks in with some of the best boss fighting moments and sounds in the history of gaming. All set up perfectly because of Ganondorf's theme and the silence in between. So beautiful!
***** It is not that special for N64. Changing music when you are on a high/deep/special/dangerous point in a level. Many games on the console did this, even Mario 64 (the first N64 game) That doesn't take away the fact it is a great detail, though.
1. When you fall down to the lower level, use the longshot to shoot yourself back up. You'll save a lot of time. 2. When Ganondorf powers up and shoots multiple projectiles at you, don't run. Hold B and power up your sword. When you spin, you'll hit all of them. Plus it makes the battle look 1000x more epic.
@@saminbball yes 100% true. I’ve been doing it since I was a kid when this game first came out. Lol or while he’s charging the attack shoot him with a light arrow asap
At 4:30, when Ganondorf is charging up his most powerful energy attack, he's completely vulnerable. You can shoot a light arrow at this point and defeat him faster.

I really appreciate BlueKnightNight's attempt to make this actually look cinematic by letting himself get hit a few times, as opposed to some other boss battle videos. For example, I once saw a Megaman Legends video for that game's final boss, and the dude just went in, used the fully upgraded Shining Laser (which is basically an overpowered bonus weapon you get on a sidequest) and downed Juno in like 15 seconds. Yeah, thanks. Super dramatic.

im sure alot of people know this, but when ganondorf does the attack where he sends all the energy beams at you at once, you can charge your sword to reflect them all back at once if you time it right. i think that's what you're supposed to do anyway, just mentioning it since the vid didn't show it
I remember as a kid whenever he started charging up his spread shot I would charge up my hurricane spin just to make the fight look more epic and surprisingly it deflected all the energy balls at once right back at him

When ganondorf does the energy ball attack, you can use your light arrows to attack him since he is vulnerable instead of running around! Just throwin that out there. -.-
Now THAT'S how to battle Ganondorf, you drew it out a bit like I do. Ever notice how sometimes he'll be easy, and other times he'll be hard? One time I battled him, he got up to fifteen swingbacks almost every time we passed the lightning ball back and forth
I'm pretty much an ex-Nintendo fan at this point. For me, they're no longer the company they used to be nor do they make the types of games I want to play now. But man... this fight with Ganon/Ganondorf? This was a video game finale I'll never forget. I was pretty young back when I first fought him. I'm pretty sure I'd gotten pulled out of school early that day for an orthodontist appointment. With my afternoon now free, I decided to finally set about beating Ocarina of Time. I remember that afternoon so much: Shiek unveiling that he was actually Princess Zelda in disguise! Zelda becoming encased within that crystal and being whisked off to Ganon's castle! The rainbow bridge appearing! Fighting through Ganondorf's castle! The climb up the stairs! And then finally... the fight with Ganondorf himself! I'm not entirely sure why, but when Ganondorf lobbed his first energy orb at me, my young brain didn't even consider that my sword would work! I instead used an empty bottle! I guess I thought the orb was electric and the bottle was my only tool that could deflect it back at him. Then I remember Ganondorf falling... coughing up the blood... shattering the tower to pieces in his rage... and then the nerve-wracking race down as the clock began to tick away. I nearly didn't make it due to that infernal Redead near the exit. I was in a complete panic trying to get him off me with barely any time left on the clock! Fortunately, I made it outside... At this point in the proceedings, I noticed that it had gotten exceedingly dark in the room I was playing in. A thunderstorm was taking place outside! You couldn't ask for better first-time final boss atmosphere! I remember then Zelda smiling at Link... then the sudden loud THUMP! Zelda gasping... Me being stupid enough to go check out the noise... And then, like a bat out of hell, Ganondorf erupts from the rubble, and with nothing but malice in his eyes he explodes in rage and transforms before my eyes!! The epic music starts playing. The battlefield was dark. The room was dark. Lightning and thunder going on outside AND in the game--!! ... Oh. It was on. The battle ensued! Without my sword I used my hammer. I ducked and weaved, dodged and back-flipped my way around Ganon's legs, using my 9-10 year old dexterity as best I could to land a shot on his tail! After what seemed like an eternity, Ganon collapsed. The shield was down! I ran for my sword! ... When the final blow came, I'll never forget that moment. Link plunges his sword into Ganon's face. The blood flies. There's a short pause. Then, Ganon leers upward, screaming in blind rage and pain. Zelda shouts, "Six Sages! Now!" ... And Ganon's evil reign was finally over. I truly felt like I had just saved the whole world that day. Even better, the storm had broken outside. It was unforgettable. One of my most dearly treasured gaming memories. No final boss in any other game gave me a real life thunderstorm outside to fight alongside with. Thanks for the memories, Nintendo. I wish you were still playing with power... but you unfortunately aren't anymore.
Melanie Whitt Yes i recently played A link to the past on my computer and i love it, in fact, i love every Zelda games, even the ones that disappointed me.
Melanie Whitt In fact Majora's mask is my favorite (with OoT), i love the dark atmosphere of the game and the soundtrack is amazing. One thing i can't stand in this game, it's the moon crash cutscene. But you know, that's a deep and beautiful game. There is no really Zelda games i dislike, there's just some of them that disappointed me, but that's it.
I love that light arrow animation, so great and I also love how his clok actually becomes damaged during the fight.... ahh the N64... a God among mere mortals..
Though the showdown with Ganondorf is absolutely epic and one of my favorite fights of all time (if not, my favorite), you could have countered his magic orbs numerous time.... The charged spin attack counters it instead of running away and potentially getting injured... Alot of people dont even know that the charge spin attack can do that lol.
Epic fight. My first fight against him looked like this. I was a kid, I began the game with this fight, and I didn't know how to beat him, so he slaughtered me.
epic battle, def. one of my favorites. but friendly word of advice: when fighthing this dude, at 4:31, when he powers up and uses that attack, charge up and use your spin attack to deflect the blasts all at once.
One thing I notice here, he keeps getting hit when ganondorf sends the charged attack that forces you to run. It's a little known fact, you can actually send this back at him with a spin attack.
It's not really "little known," this person is just an idiot. However, since I am actually watching this video just because I like Ganondorf's grunts and shouts, it works for me. =)
I really liked this clip, because I think it really makes the audience sit at the edge of their seats. I liked seeing what it was like to fall to the bottom and not kill Ganondorf as soon as possible. Great video :) I liked it a lot. Plus, you included the beginning scene.
In the first part of the battle, you have the time to get to the center just after you throw the lighting bowl. You can then shoot the arrow only when you are on the center. It gains you a lot of time, if you have biggoron sword you can kill him in two times only. Sorry for the bad english btw.
This battle was really funny to look at. It gives me memories of this battle, how hard it was, as a kid playing it. Thumbs up for not defeating him asap!
I like the fact that ganondorf sucks the light out of the whole room and Makes an energy ball of it. Nice Effect. I remember when I first played this game. Man, This battle was so epic back then!
First off, you don’t need the wing boots - Link will automatically jump to the center platform. Second, when Ganondorf uses his dark energy attack, charge your sword and then use your spin attack when he releases if which will turn it back onto him and the use your light arrow.
his evil laugh was, and still is, the best of all also, at 2:12 he says "wii"..... he knew it!!!! no wonder he's called a wizard the battle's harder than i remembered, forgot about the 5 energy balls and more ground breaking
Best Ganondorf battle i've seen on youtube. I couldn't care less for the ''no damage'' or ''killing him after 1 lightning bolt'' videos. I like dragging fights like this on like you did to make them all the more awesome. Kudos:)
@GuitarMaster6567 Yeah, ya know believe it or not I just recently beat Ganondorf in Twilight Princess and found the part where you have to volley the trident shot back and forth to be far more frustrating.
I always found the dead man’s volley here epic. Link and Ganondorf going at it: Ganondorf: Hwooyah! Link: Hyah! Ganondorf: Heh! Link: Hye! Ganondorf: Heh! Link: Ha! Ganondorf: (gets hit) Ooo-aw!
I used the Megaton hammer after shooting him with the light arrow almost instinctively since it's a weapon that naturally does so much damage that Ganondorf should have not survived.
Yea Ganondorf was awesome. I remember playing this game when I was 6. All good villians get thrown to a curb. It pisses me off. Ganondorf, Wesker, Dr.Doom, like WTF!
They should start BOTW2 with a version of this fight with revived Ganondorf. Would be a fun way to subvert the expectations of the Ganondorf tennis fight having it at the beginning instead of the end.
Note to all players. When ganadorf uses his multiple light beam attack, just hold the B and do your spinning attack. It reflects them all back to him and he gets stunned from it just like the light ball.
yes you can turn it off. if you wait long enough it will play the scarecrow's song if you made one in the game (i usually didn't). it doesn't save no matter how long you wait, so when you play the file again you will start inside ganon's castle and can fight ganondorf and ganon again
Thumbs up for this. I discovered that counter the very first time I fought Ganondorf. You know, it's pretty annoying to not see the spinning attack counter used in a SINGLE Ganondorf battle vid on TH-cam, even after almost seven years of TH-cam's existence.
I was using the mirror shield to try and deflect the orbs, but I noticed nothing was working. Then I eventually figured out I could deflect the orbs with my sword and hit him with them. Then it took me even longer to figure out you could hit him with the light arrow. Haha. It took me a while to beat him, but it was a good fight
EVERYONE, MAY I HAVE YOUR ATTENTION, PLEASE? Do you want Ganondorf to use his sword and/or have a more faithful moveset in Smash? Go to the Smash Bros ballot and vote for it! We may get a Sword Ganondorf option or it may appear in Smash 5!!!
Interesting how you still learn things about this game. I didn't realize Gannondorf's hair was longer in the future in comparison to the past until just now. I'm really not observant enough. XD
@GuitarMaster6567 Yeah there are but I don't believe they respawn the strategy guide I had warned of "forfeit is inevitable" if you run out of magic for good.
I REALLY LOVE THIS GAME! I know i sound like everyone else, but i watched my brother when i was a baby and i played it from the beginning/ this was the only game i played for 5 years straight everyday after school over and over again :) Also i know i am so mean and REALLY crazy, but i would hit him with the hammer instead of the sword when i get to the middle. it goes much faster lol btw nice vid :)

AND HE's playing EPIC ORGAN!
his evil laugh was, and still is, the best of all
also, at 2:12 he says "wii"..... he knew it!!!! no wonder he's called a wizard
the battle's harder than i remembered, forgot about the 5 energy balls and more ground breaking
you got my attention when you said star fox on the 64. I was a beast at that game. Ahhhh nostalgia. :)
Best Ganondorf battle i've seen on youtube. I couldn't care less for the ''no damage'' or ''killing him after 1 lightning bolt'' videos. I like dragging fights like this on like you did to make them all the more awesome. Kudos:)
Link after healing himself with the jar and the fairy: i got a trick in my sleeve.
Ganondorf: hmmmm not bad lets continue with the tennis.
I love the part when LINK looks down at his hand &his Tri - force glows
@theshadowlands14 its the mirrorshield. you get it in the temple where you have to use light
9:00 is my reaction to youtube's new layout
there is a way to deflect ganondorf's powerful multi magic. you just got to charge up your spin attack.
I loved playing Power Tennis with this guy. Fun as!
Gandondorf cooking up some nasty beats for his mixtape.
My entire life resumes to this :) I'm glad to be in this generation, My childhood was FUCKING AWESOME!
zelda in my opinion has the most epic boss battles, and that matle is just so epic too
@GuitarMaster6567 Yeah, ya know believe it or not I just recently beat Ganondorf in Twilight Princess and found the part where you have to volley the trident shot back and forth to be far more frustrating.
I always found the dead man’s volley here epic. Link and Ganondorf going at it:
Ganondorf: Hwooyah!
Ganondorf: a guy who didn't get the shit to close his cape in time to ward off his own attack 🤣 that says it all
Yea Ganondorf was awesome.
All my life, I've wanted the sheet music to the music Ganondorf is playing on the organ so I can bust that out on my own organ.
Note to all players. When ganadorf uses his multiple light beam attack, just hold the B and do your spinning attack. It reflects them all back to him and he gets stunned from it just like the light ball.
One of the only disappointing aspects of this game, Ganondorf and most of the other bosses are pathetically easy
Hydroxoid Ganondorf was fucking IMPOSSIBLE!
+Adam Halley-Prinable pssh...git gud kid
nothin personnel
+MajorazMasta I was 8, cut me some slack
Adam Halley-Prinable age is no excuse for plebbery
I beat Dark Souls in like 1 hour blindfolded and with a Guitar hero controller when I was 7
+Hydroxoid Not if you dont know how to beat them
yes you can turn it off. if you wait long enough it will play the scarecrow's song if you made one in the game (i usually didn't). it doesn't save no matter how long you wait, so when you play the file again you will start inside ganon's castle and can fight ganondorf and ganon again
Thumbs up for this. I discovered that counter the very first time I fought Ganondorf.
You know, it's pretty annoying to not see the spinning attack counter used in a SINGLE Ganondorf battle vid on TH-cam, even after almost seven years of TH-cam's existence.
a tip, when he fires multiple balls at once you can reflect them with the big goron sword.
I remember when I figured out you can deflect his energy blasts with a bottle... lmao.
ganon dorf has awesome talent if he composed such a BEUATIFUL/EPIC theme like that
You can also deflect all the balls back at him with a properly timed fire spin for style points.
What? It was clearly hinted that you had to follow the same approach as the first boss in the forest temple.
You can deflect Ganon's mutli blast attack with a spin attack.
Didn't read after reading the first sentence. I assume it was boring.
Let's see if you're right
The 3rd Option Smash five has it!
Ganondorf's voice.... that is the manliest voice ever lol
1:15
That laugh means business...
Interesting how you still learn things about this game. I didn't realize Gannondorf's hair was longer in the future in comparison to the past until just now. I'm really not observant enough. XD
at that attack either fire a light arrow at him while he's charging, or by hit those things with a charged spin attack.
The 3DS version looks so much better now than it was in the N64. Especially Ganondorf's castle.
heres something i never noticed, ganondorf has the same voice effects as akuma.
@GuitarMaster6567 Yeah there are but I don't believe they respawn the strategy guide I had warned of "forfeit is inevitable" if you run out of magic for good.
I REALLY LOVE THIS GAME!
I know i sound like everyone else, but i watched my brother when i was a baby and i played it from the beginning/ this was the only game i played for 5 years straight everyday after school over and over again :)
Also i know i am so mean and REALLY crazy, but i would hit him with the hammer instead of the sword when i get to the middle. it goes much faster lol
btw nice vid :)
you can avoid the large attacks by shooting him with a light arrow when he is charging it
