- Cemlyn Bay on Anglesey is the best place in the U.K. for photographing Sandwich terns in flight. A quick visit during the nesting season for terns and other wildlife.

Thank you ... great to watch !
Beautiful video with awesome photos...
Many thanks
Well I am a great fan of all your videos Mike. Thank you.
Great video, as usual :)
For real short distance photos of arctic terns i can recommend northern Germany. On the western part of the "connection to Denmark" part, there is the "Eidersperrwerk"
A huge colony of black headed gulls and about 100-200 breeding pairs of arctic terns are there. The "breeding area" is fenced off as well, but the population grew bigger than the fenced area, so the birds are now breeding outside of it already.
The birds are also quite accustomed to visitors, so they let you get really close. 10meters was the limit, then the breeding birds would fly up and leave their egg behind. In other places they did this at distances between 25 and 50 meters.
On my first trip, i went there with a 500mm lens, went back to the car to get a 70-200 ;)
By the way, the car park is 2mins from the colony, basically across a street and up the dike.
Thanks Benjamin, I must have driven past this a few times on my travels.
Look forward to your video on a Saturday Mike, and not disappointed another great video, thanks for sharing.
It looks like the camera is perfect. I enjoyed your video thank you.
Very informative, many thanks. We have just been there to watch the Risso dolphins, and didn't know they had terns, can't wait to visit next year. The BBC were there, sadly, doing an article on bird flu.
Glad it was helpful!
Excellent Video, thanks for sharing.
Very interesting as always Mike. I notice in the rock pipit images/footage, the curse of the dust spot is back. One thing the Olympus seems exceptional on.
Another good and informative video Mike
Another great video, Mike. Thank you!
Excellent video and great shots
Excellent video as always Mike! I live on Anglesey and visit Cemlyn regular. Great place for wildlife!
Great shots Mike
Excellent, as always Mike…
Wow another place to visit in Britain 4000 Sandwich Terns amazing ! Usually get the odd one around here ! Little terns however nest near Poole Dorset in far fewer numbers though ! Great video Mike thanks for sharing !
Hi Mike, are you using eye focus on the Sony, I ask because I've got hundreds of perfectly focused nearest wing tip birds in flight and your photos are nicely focused on the heads.
I have the bird tracking on, which amazes me how it goes to the birds eye nearly every time.
@@MikeLaneFRPS thanks for your reply Mike.
Very informative Mike, thank you. I have been to Cemlyn Bay just once but didn't know exactly what I was looking for - methinks that there will be another trip in the calendar in the not so distant future. Is there a "good" time of year to visit?
May and June will offer the most activity.
Another well made video, thanks for your time and effort. Are you really 89?
No I said it was not bad for an 89 year old, not that I was 89. I thought it was obvious I was not 89, but sadly many people thought that was what I meant.
@@MikeLaneFRPS All the more to look forward to.
He's nowhere near 89; more like 39!
He's 98.
Have you given up on your Olympus kit ?
No I still use it, but for birds in flight the Sony is far superior.
