Damnation Forsaken it's complete allegory if you knew Hebrew and the structure of Hebrew poetry and writing. The story has to do with balancing polarities within and sacrificing yourself within.
Mr.Sobrino firstly, i don't think it was allegory in the way you are saying when it was written, i think they did the best to convey what they wanted to, secondly, even if it were allegory, what you are saying implies that the writers were deliberately trying to mislead, which would make them dishonest ... thirdly even in that case what makes you think that your interpretation of 'allegory' is the valid one...... I think they are pretty straightforward in what they were saying allegory or not.
WOW! I am not a religious person but I find this very entertaining and thought provoking. You are talking intelligently and with all your heart and soul! Such a good speaker!!
Right? I've been an Atheist and turned away from Catholicism for about a decade now, but I have no problem sitting through the 2 1/2 hours each of these lectures are vs. the 5-10 minutes priests wasted poorly interpreting the Bible at church.
Atheism is what happens when you reject some retarded dogmas and then assume roughly the opposite is true. I am a (panen)theist but a philosophical one, religious for me stands in the way of actually understanding God.
Fringe Wizard all his trying to do is reverting the damage is on society now! If you don't want that, please go the other way! So, "wishing for some one intelligent enough to challenge him". What a.... are you? No words to you from me! You already now what I think by now!
Fringe Wizard all right. So, maybe you're right. Maybe, as a society, we need to let some stuff burn away before we can move up and gain better understandings and processes. I don't think anyone needs to wish for a challenger because it will be self evident when we all start to challenge these ideas by living out our lives. The proof is in the pudding (or it WILL be, anyway), so to speak.
Listening to Peterson give a lecture feels like following a light in the black emptiness of the psyche I've stopped drinking almost entirely and feel it validities questions I have about how to progress through life.
Isn't it an absolutely heartbreaking privilege to be on planet with JBP and internet? 50 years earlier and we would only have known him if we lived in the same place....
I think the same! I had always admired the great philosophers and the prophets that speak truth from the Bible. My heart, soul and mind tells me he is one of them! We are so blessed to live in his time and with this technology 🤩
People are so respectful and good hearted in this feed, it makes me feel secure and so happy, thanks y’all for being so great, makes me happy and thankful to be a mom and send those kids to the world, wish I felt like this all the time but right now it’s genuine! Bless you all people!
Genesis 22:8 "God himself will provide the lamb" or "God will provide himself, a Lamb" is echoed in John 1:29 "Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!" Mind blown.
Want more mind blowing? The Ram was found with his horns caught in a thicket. A thicket is a thorn bush. Basically the sacrificial ram had a crown of thorns. Some more? Abraham placed the wood for the sacrifice on Isaac's back, so Isaac carried his cross up the mountain.
Here's some more: Mount Moriah is in what later would be known as Jerusalem, the very place where Jesus was crucified. Furthermore, the Hebrew text is in the future/incomplete tense: "On this mountain the Lord will see to it/provide". The very place where the lamb of God would be sacrificed.
A ram is not a lamb. When Abraham said the Lord will provide a lamb, it was unfulfilled at the end of this story. The lamb of God comes in the New Testament, speaking of Jesus.
Also, the journey was supposed to be for three days. After three days the attendants would see the son again. Abraham promised them that they would return, so he reasoned that no matter what, Isaac was coming back alive. The New Testament points out that Abraham reasoned his way to the resurrection, that if his son's life is taken, he must get it back again, seeing as the promise would be fulfilled, and that Abraham trusted that God would fulfill his promise.
Bless you Dr Peterson. What a courageous, gracious and elegant spirit. I feel like you made huge sacrifices in order to shine the light of truth at a time of mass darkness and delusion. We are at war. Thank you for all you have done and continue to do. We are all very fortunate you’re still with us.
It was at 58:00 that I finally understood it all and began to weep. My thirst for...not knowledge, but for understanding,, had been touched. It is remarkable that it took 40 years to finally encounter a TRULY good teacher. That is how rare they are. It is the lack of understanding the subject matter which has always kept me from living life. Yes, because these were the earliest stories told to me, and I knew they held incredibly deep meaning, but could not be put forward to me in any deeper way than literally. This stripped them of nearly all meaning, as the rabbis, cantors, Hebrew school teachers, Sunday school teachers and so on continuously collected their paychecks, some innocently but others not so innocently convinced of their superb contribution to society, and blamed my ADHD, and secretly, my adopted non-Jewish blood for my disinterest, lack of passion, and often openly despised attempts at levity through mockery of the subject matter. But then I thought.....nah Peterson is ok. But not THAT great. Hes CanDian for Gods sake.
Dr. Peterson, you asked why this lecture series is so enthralling to people. I am a Christian who has been reading and rereading the Bible and attending church for 30 years. I found deeper insights in these lectures than I often find in church sermons. Especially, when you consider the Bible predicts (accurately, for the most part) that non-believers will be confounded by Scripture and that it will be counted as foolishness.
I've been sorting myself out pretty pathetically in the past and I'm still not doing it very well but I'm getting more clear in the vision that I have for myself, in no small part due to your insights Dr.Peterson. Thank you very much sir.
What a way to end a lecture. In both big and little ways, Dr Peterson is making such an amazing and positive difference in the world. All this began when just one person had the wisdom and strength of conviction to stand up and say "No" in the face of rising tyranny. God bless you sir.
Impressive how the stories manage to keep you so tightly gripped, like every word is as water in the desert when jordan explains something. Truly amazing
Wow this one tied it all together. I was weed whacking my lawn & all the sudden I am sobbing. I’m freaking 6’3 & 240(my playing weight was 220 so yeah, not muscle) and I was out there yesterday sobbing like a baby. Just applying this to my life thinking about my 14 & 12 year old kids, my wife losing her parents in the past 5 years and how much giving her only son to this world will hurt her. A good mother fails. So true, so brilliant. Starting 50:25 and rolling all the way through is some of the most intense words I’ve ever heard. Our ark was not built a few years ago but we had a choice, sink or swim. We saw Jordan in Philly last year and his topic was “opportunity lurks where responsibility has been abdicated.” I highly recommend. Feels so good to know there’s others out there that understand this and how much it has helped us all. Keep going everyone. 💪
Spending time and watch these series is one of the few but greatest sacrifices. Although I wanted to be a Clinician, I am grateful for how my life turned out to be.
Absolutely brilliant summary at the end, informed by by years of reading out of the best books, clinical work, and just living the tough life he has lived! I would say he is inspired by the Spirit and loyal to truth. What a privilege to listen to these incredible lectures.
I've listened to this series three times now. Not sure how I missed the ending to this one! Best wishes to that couple wherever you are! A year ago October 1, I lost my soulmate of 20 years to a rapid illness. Marriage isn't for the faint of heart! You can't be a quitter! Properly executed, though, it is heaven on earth! Good luck to you and God bless Dr. Peterson and all that learn from him! Well done Doc!
So incredible that someone proposed here at the end. I mean, it's just something that might not have happened without the guidance that Jordan has provided. There's just something really beautiful about that happening. It is a direct positive result of someone taking the lessons to heart.
Really greatful for these lectures. You made me clean my room... I have been struggling with this idea since I was a teenager but you gave me reasons why it should be clean and my life has changed. Thank you Dr. Peterson
With the previous comment already 1 year ago, today having enjoyed and loving each and every word for the first time, this must available for ever. You have enormously upgraded my thinking and even explained many past experiences. Jordan Peterson: THANK YOU VERY MUCH.
It’s refreshing to see someone try to make logical sense out of these things instead of get more entrenched into dogma. Thanks, Jordan. You said it better than I ever could.
This is my favourite JBP content to date, best of all lectures & interviews: it seems to touch on most of his most brilliant themes & anecdotes, it is emotive, it is inspiring to a sublime degree.
How can anyone paint Dr. Peterson in a negative light?! This man has no hate in him for anyone. How can people not feel Dr. Peterson's love for humanity and life itself?! He truly wants what's best for everyone; in his actions, thoughts, and teachings.
The lesson of the twentieth century is twofold: 1. Know the evil within you and control it. 2. Know to recognize evil in others, and know to recognize it in organizations and nations, and be prepared to fight it and protect yourself and those that are dear to you, and be prepared to protect freedom!
"So you're saying you're going to shackle yourself to me, and never run away?" I'd have loved it if he'd have answered: "Something approximating that."
I don’t know why I’ve been resisting this particular lecture. I know the story, But not the “Jordon translation” which are always immense. I’ve been directed here, after prayer, so here I am. Bring it.
JBP DRINKING GAME Take a sip when JBP says: -Postmodernism -Dominance Hierarchy -Nietzsche -Dostoevsky -Jung -Architype/Architypal [BONUS RULES] If that's no joke, finish your drink. If JBP tells you to sort yourself out, stop drinking immediately. If JBP tells you to clean your room, clean your room.
I simply can not thank you enough, Jordan. My time and attention I hold as most valuable universal currency, and for you're wisdom and understanding I am happy to sacrifice much of it towards you. My gratitude and dept is repaid in my actions and behaviour, for the connections between psychology and Natural Law you radiate has gravitated me becoming a better man. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
This man is an absolute legend. Authentic. Real. Savage. Thank you assisting me in re-orienting my life towards the ultimate good, and for lots of laughs!
It gave me the chills and made me start to clean up my act. There are echo notes between the Covenant with Noah, the covenant with Abraham and the covenant with Moses; faithfulness to the covenant doesn't negate chaos but it shields each by giving them a horizon to move toward.
These just get better and better with every lecture and I’m so grateful. I’ve craved this level of spiritual scholarship for a long time. It’s not easy to come by with such clear AND complete presentation. What a blessing you are on earth. I’d sure love to be on your Production Team with our company. This is media and messaging I believe in and the world needs more of it. 🙏
I'm a cradle Catholic and could say that I was a CINO (Catholic in name only) During college I went through a socialist phase but the most worrying phase was the atheist one. I remember this very vividly: September 2018 on my 4hr daily commute to work from TJ to San Diego I decided that in order to keep my sanity I'd better start listening to a smart podcast while on queue to cross the border to get to work. That moment @59:29 got to me. Tired and hopeless because I was once again almost late for work. And I listened very carefully to this part. I started crying. The innocence of Isaac and Abraham's abandonment on God is such a powerful story. I learned that if I wanted structure in my life for things to work out I needed to fill in that spiritual void. I am still a sinner but now I am trying to become that temple in which the Holy Spirit must reside. Thank you, Dr. Peterson, for being the catalyst that made this poor sinner reach out to his faith. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Thank you for doing this series, Dr. Peterson. Thank you. Your genuine interest in and love of people, and your ability to speak directly to them, and say what needs to be said in a way that truly touches them, is a gift to all of us.
This is a wonderful series. As having taught Sunday school and having done countless studies of the bible, I find Peterson puts all in such a good intellectual/ philosophic and psychological perspective. His insight is a real gift for those looking for truth that they are seeking. Well done.
this is very insightful. "If you play the game of your enemies and you win, you win their game. You don't win. That's not victory. You just become the most successful component of their pathology." - J. Peterson
todays my birthday and im spending my day watching your vids and cleaning my room. love you JP, you're one of...if not the....biggest inspiration in my life.
Dear everyone, the reason Christ said, "My God, My God why have You forsaken me", is because He continues to be, exactly who He claimed to be. While on the cross, He starts the first line of a song written by King David in the Old Testament. Psalms 22. Now just imagine, you are witnessing this man, claiming to be the Son of God, being crucified unto death. Then all of a sudden, this Man begins to sing the first line of a song, that you and the rest of your culture are very familiar with and have been for over 800 years. What happens next, as you continue to sing the rest of the lyrics the Dying Man began to sing, you begin to witness the lyrics, play out in real time, and realize the Son of Man hanging on the cross is from God. Psalm 22 written around 800 years before Jesus. Now wrap your own brain around that.
I'm a worm not a man. Being nailed hand and foot makes you dance like a worm on a hook as you alternate the weight from the nails in your wrist to the one nail through both your feet. That's just one part. Enjoy your study.
Nobody reads the OT anymore, so they miss this kind of stuff. Instead they just spit quotes that sound weird out of context and say, "LOL, look at this!"
To add another layer to that: Christ's Passion is prophesied another time as though from the perspective of His persecutors and detractors, written perhaps only 100 years before, in the Book of Wisdom, Chapter 2 (1 and 3 adds a lot to it too), which Professor Peterson partly quoted at 32:00, but read on a little further. Then read also Matthew 27:36-46. (Wisdom is not part of the biblical canon for Protestants, but it is for Catholics and Orthodox.)
Thank you Jordan Peterson. You have illuminated the beast, Monstro, Smaug, the evil that I must confront and you have strengthened me to overcome. I will overcome. Thank you.
Every now and then, when I get some free time, I figure that I'll get stoned and enjoy a good Jordan Peterson lecture. It seems that I cannot help but forget that his eloquent encouragement, optimism, and make-yourself messages, are large contributors to his overall appeal. And so I rarely get more than fifteen minutes into a video before I'm convinced to go write, study, or go to the gym (instead of watching the rest). Maybe Dr. Peterson is like the admirable piece of the archetypal mother, because only when you no longer 'need' him is it most evident that he's done a good job.
I'm almost done with the book Notes from the Underground by Dostoevsky (yes, I bought it and read it after this incredible genius Dr Peterson suggested it) and even though I was already warned when he had admired Dostoevsky and the book for being terrifyingly true, I could not help but be flabbergasted at the depth and genius of the ideas Dostoevsky put forward in that book. There were moments when I just read on like a little kid that was introduced to a horrific idea (I presume I looked like that because that's how I felt). Dr. Peterson, thank you for suggesting such an amazing book! I also have other Dostoevsky and Tolstoy books in my library now and intend to read and digest them in coming months/years.
No kidding. "Crime and Punishment" had me walking around in a daze for days (NPI). I haven't felt that since back when I'd read every sci-fi anthology I could find. Good stuff.
I am a "good mother" who has "failed" five times. I love this quote - it is so true, and it explains why my kids have grown into such fantastic adults even though I was a negligent, sub-par mother.
E Tphonehome Having a rough childhood doesn't 100% make people serial killers, but many killers had rough childhoods. Also, one of your children can go crazy after you die. You'll never know the full extent of possible damage you allegedly inflicted upon them.
Yes feel good that your children turned out as they did. That's amazing take a while to love and embrace it with all the struggle and joys that you went through to meet this outcome. This makes me think a bird mum does not push their young out of the nest by randomness or accident. They teach them to fly when they see the young bird is ready - and let go too. So be wise when you teach and "let go" concerning children. And be there for them. If the bird simply didn't think and pushed the young. Then resilience and life lottery will play a major role in the outcome. And the mother bird is luck and should be happy if the young learn to fly and they turn out well in life. Thank you.
Has anybody noticed how many comments have been made in the short time this video has been posted. Also, how free from negativity and abusive language the comments are. Rather they (almost all) show good humour and generosity of spirit. Professor Peterson has much to say and a great deal to offer .The number and quality of these comments shows that he is reaching a large and richly deserved audience. Apparently people are cleaning their rooms across the land.
Thank you so much! I am a Christian since a long time, I study theology and love apologetics. But your analysis brings me to tears every time. Philosophy shows us that he must be personal so... God bless!

it's complete allegory if you knew Hebrew and the structure of Hebrew poetry and writing.
No better way to clean your room than doing it with someone you love and suffer together till the end

WOW! I am not a religious person but I find this very entertaining and thought provoking. You are talking intelligently and with all your heart and soul! Such a good speaker!!
I'm a Christian, and I learn more about God from an atheist than from Christian teachers. Great speaker indeed.
Listening to Peterson give a lecture feels like following a light in the black emptiness of the psyche
I've stopped drinking almost entirely and feel it validities questions I have about how to progress through life.
LOVE!
Aweseome.
I DID NOT EXPECT THAT ENDING, ugh ...I'm in tears now :'(
U need to be proposed to 2 😊
Isn't it an absolutely heartbreaking privilege to be on planet with JBP and internet?
50 years earlier and we would only have known him if we lived in the same place....
It is the Lord working through this amazing man to bring forth his message for the sake of salvation. God bless you all!
He has enough worthy precursors.
Heartbreaking privilege indeed. God bless!
I think the same! I had always admired the great philosophers and the prophets that speak truth from the Bible. My heart, soul and mind tells me he is one of them! We are so blessed to live in his time and with this technology 🤩
Never thought it could happen, but I am totally addicted to these lectures. They are so profound and deep. Keep them coming Jordan
People are so respectful and good hearted in this feed, it makes me feel secure and so happy, thanks y’all for being so great, makes me happy and thankful to be a mom and send those kids to the world, wish I felt like this all the time but right now it’s genuine! Bless you all people!
I find these biblical series videos useful particularly because I'm raising a child.
I love how it's group learning. We're learning, the crowd is learning, and he's learning.
I love how Jordan takes each phrase and pulls it apart to get absolutely as much out as possible.
Genesis 22:8 "God himself will provide the lamb" or "God will provide himself, a Lamb" is echoed in John 1:29 "Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!" Mind blown.
Amen. Come, Lord Jesus!
2:07:20 "I've found this lecture series really really enthralling...." *Dr Peterson's voice resonates like the voice of God* "Why?"
Lol Yeah that's the pick up on the question mic.
Yes this made me laugh out loud and since I’m listening on headphones everybody in the room was so confused
@@OliverSteadman That has happened to me so many times at home 😂😂

No joke, one of the best marriage proposals I've ever heard....was a bit of a tear jerker for sure.
Makes me glad I took what I thought was a long shot and married the woman I knew I’d regret not marrying . Haven’t been wrong about that ever.
4:04 What a picture. The perfection in drawing the mother with her child is absolutely stunning.
"...who cares what you say you believe, the issue is how you act..." - Dr Jordan Peterson
Loved the applause before he has even begun to speak. Well-deserved respect
like after 11 lectures, the clapping was already justified even before the lecture began.
Without a doubt, the greatest of all time ending to a lecture by anyone, anywhere.
Watched all 12 lectures, I must say this is one of the greatest experience I have ever had. Thank you so much !
My God the last three minutes is the most heartwarming moment I've experienced on TH-cam.
I am mesmerized By Dr, Petersons explaining the biblical stories. It opens so many doors in my understanding of the bible, for me. Thank you so much
Spending time and watch these series is one of the few but greatest sacrifices. Although I wanted to be a Clinician, I am grateful for how my life turned out to be.
Absolutely brilliant summary at the end, informed by by years of reading out of the best books, clinical work, and just living the tough life he has lived! I would say he is inspired by the Spirit and loyal to truth.
What a privilege to listen to these incredible lectures.
the happiest thing that i can consider right now is knowing you, dr. jordan peterson.
Cannot express the importance of these messages thoroughly enough. Truly a blessing to the masses and a very clear demonstration of God's mercy.
Really greatful for these lectures. You made me clean my room... I have been struggling with this idea since I was a teenager but you gave me reasons why it should be clean and my life has changed. Thank you Dr. Peterson
2:16:20 - 2:20:20 - Four minutes of culture-shaping truth, wisdom from on high and downright classic Peterson!
I love how he edited the standing ovation at the end of the lecture out. Very humble thing to do.
With the previous comment already 1 year ago, today having enjoyed and loving each and every word for the first time, this must available for ever. You have enormously upgraded my thinking and even explained many past experiences. Jordan Peterson: THANK YOU VERY MUCH.
I am crying man crying.
On 5 am, on my rooftop completely alone for the people i don't know
But strangely i feel completely Ok
It’s refreshing to see someone try to make logical sense out of these things instead of get more entrenched into dogma. Thanks, Jordan. You said it better than I ever could.
Damn... This is better than Netflix.
Kierkegaard's "Fear and Trembling" is a really great analysis of the Binding of Isaac. Highly recommend.
I couldn't hold back the tears watching Jordan's face in the last 2 minutes of this video
The lesson of the twentieth century is twofold:
1. Know the evil within you and control it.
2. Know to recognize evil in others, and know to recognize it in organizations and nations, and be prepared to fight it and protect yourself and those that are dear to you, and be prepared to protect freedom!
Keep that green monster down.
Crying like a baby right now. This was beautiful on so many levels and at so many points. Pure. Excellence.
"So you're saying you're going to shackle yourself to me, and never run away?"
I'd have loved it if he'd have answered: "Something approximating that."
😂 that would have been good, or even a “roughly speaking”
I don’t know why I’ve been resisting this particular lecture.
I know the story,
But not the “Jordon translation” which are always immense.
I’ve been directed here, after prayer, so here I am.
Bring it.
my goodness, this guy is the man our time needs.

Dr.Jordan is an amazing man. May he continue to clear the path to a better life for everyone.
"I wanna clean rooms with you" ... 😍😍😍
Mary-am gurl yes 😂
Made me chuckle
“Sir, this is a Wendy’s”.
Please Dr Peterson, turn these lectures into a book. This is so great.
My God, I did not expect that at 2:32:28.
That made me smile.
it made me cry
@@taraaboz It made me cry too
I felt happy
This is a wonderful series. As having taught Sunday school and having done countless studies of the bible, I find Peterson puts all in such a good intellectual/ philosophic and psychological perspective. His insight is a real gift for those looking for truth that they are seeking. Well done.
"It echoes in your soul because the structure is already there"
- J. Peterson.
this is very insightful.
ChrisManess1 dude, that just blew my mind. You gave me the topic of Bible study for next week.
ChrisManess1 comments like this one makes reading "Bucko squad assemble" a thousand times be worth it. Thanks!
This man changed my life
Thank You Sir Jordan B Peterson
Bravo Mr. Peterson. The Abraham Issac story and the way you let that play out was beautiful. Bravo i say 👏
Good stuff.
Thank you so much for these lectures Dr Peterson. I have learned so bloody much it's unbelievable and cried from the beauty you unveil. Thank you.
My mind kept blowing up when he started reading what he wrote, it's amazing and it all makes sense if you listen to it carefully.
Men, he closed up this first 12 lectures with golden key. This lecture is top quality from begining to end
I cried from the last part while driving home from work in traffic. Very touching.
this is the most beautiful ending I ve ever seen of any thing ever. No wonder why people love him.
I am a "good mother" who has "failed" five times. I love this quote - it is so true, and it explains why my kids have grown into such fantastic adults even though I was a negligent, sub-par mother.
Hey, That's great!
Thank you.
Come on people, let's get 12 Rules for Life up the Amazon charts. Pre-ordered my copy already.
