@@DerekDavis213I agree. I’ve been using it in the lower mainland the last few days and while it’s impressive, I can rarely go more than 10 minutes without an intervention. There are so many edge cases. Blind corners, construction, navigation issues, parking lot challenges (it almost drove me straight into a retaining wall), inability to plan ahead in heavy traffic and gets caught in the wrong lane. Potholes are also a problem although it’s been pretty good with speed bumps. It frustrates drivers behind you when it hesitates at traffic circles and right turns with parked cars that are difficult to see around. Some blind left turns I won’t even let it try. The only way to see if it’s safe to go at some of these is to look for the reflections in parked cars across the street. Again, it’s really good under normal conditions and based on popular Tesla TH-camrs I thought it was getting close, but now that I’m using it, it’s nowhere close to unsupervised FSD in my experience.
Nice to see a Vancouver FSD Tesla video! I'm curious to know what FSD will do for streets where there is a left turner (at an unprotected left) and you want to go straight. Will it know to get into the right lane to go around the left turner even though it can't see the left turn blinker? For example: Victoria and 49th heading east or west bound. In heavy traffic, if FSD doesn't know to get into the right lane, they may be stuck in the left lane for a long time.
We should appreciate this much more just because it is not in the US but Canada. Not sure if there are some driving rules differences, but even if the two systems are compatible 100%, there are usually local differences. So the fact it handled it so well is the more valuable guys! 👍🏼🤖
Seems like we are a long way from true self drive capability (no supervision). But it’s cool technology. I don’t think many people will pay $280 CDN per month. It’s an expensive toy in addition to an expensive vehicle.
good commentary, but a couple of minutes staring at the shaky footage made me dizzy. I have the same experience with how fast it is going on local roads, there is no need to catch up to the speed limit when there are no other cars on the road. It should do a more gradual acceleration coming out of a stopped position.
So I’m sure you’re already aware that Elon has instructed his people to provide demonstration rides for anyone who is currently not buying FSD, which I think is an important next step in getting people to understand the value of this technology. So what I have observed is that we have 2 distinct camps when it comes to autonomous driving cars, and that is, those who are absolutely scared to death, and that’s not an exaggeration. I’m talking about scared to death of this technology, and then you have people like yourself, and those of us who use this technology, and follow this technology, and I’ve had this from the very beginning, when they gave us the opportunity to opt in at 3K, and we watched it increase incrementally to 15K to 12K to where it’s currently at today. So you now have the option of opting in using a subscription, as opposed to having the opportunity I had to opt in at 3K, that’s an absolute steal compared to what you have to pay at today’s price. So by Elon opening up the opportunity to at least experience where we are today, and with over air updates to the system, I mean, come on, who else can do that? WAYMO, Lyft, Cruise, I don’t think so, and when you coupled that with the idea that they don’t even make their own vehicles, let’s get real, these guys are a joke, and they’re not making any real money. In fact, they’re losing money, just like, Ford, GM and all the rest are losing money on every EV they sell, and Oh! Oh! Oh! What about Apple’s recent announcement that their not so secret project code named, Titan, is finished, no more, completely scrapped. Imagine a company, so huge with so much money, that they can afford to throw a billion dollars or more at a project that ends up in the trashcan. That’s insane, I mean you would think smart guys like Tim Cook and others, in that company would have known that this was not easy, think about the things that Tesla has discovered along the journey, and the most valuable in my opinion is that we should understand when things are difficult, but doable, but at would price? So it’s gonna require a mountain of resource in order to get there, and so what are the odds that in the very near future every car that you buy, will have a Tesla designed AI computer chip inside, and what is the value of that to investors who are properly positioned to take advantage of an AGI designed system to drive a commercial vehicle. So think of all the other applications that Tesla will be able to use their knowledge of a fully autonomous driving car/vehicle/whatever, Optimus robot etc. and WallStreet appears to not have a clue, as to the value of the stock at this price, which is absolutely, unbelievably cheap, relative to its overall position in the marketplace, don’t cha think?
yes. i think. haha as you saw from this video, there is certainly still issues. but i believe that they will be iron'd out over time as driving in reverse is added to FSD and tesla improves their navigation and mapping data. but yes... the platform has been building for several years on $TSLA stock, just like from 2014-2019...
@@jcubhilton Exactly, and so I am picking up a 2024 Model S next week, trading in my 2018 Model 3, and using the proceeds from that as a down payment, and they’re going to allow me to transfer FSD to the new vehicle. So how good of a deal is that? So I don’t think it’s an exaggeration to say that Tesla is headed to the stratosphere, and that they will make Apple look like they don’t know what the hell they’re doing, and to think that they had the opportunity/chance to actually buy Tesla, which based on what we now know, I am ecstatic that deal never happened, because if that had happened, there’s a distinct possibility that there wouldn’t have been a Tesla. So full disclosure, I do not own a single share of Tesla stock, and the reason is, I don’t own a single share of the stock of any company. I own the product. I love the product and I’m buying it again, and I am bullish on the company, but not on the stock, which may sound like an oxymoron, but the stock market is filled with fickle people in my opinion, that don’t know value when they see it, and that poses both a problem and an opportunity but those who understand the markets and have positioned themselves properly to take advantage of these psychological, jiu-jitsu techniques investors use to trim their portfolios and position themselves to exploit the undervalue of the markets. So it is said that the market hates instability, and so do I, cancel, knowing that, I don’t wanna spend my life chasing stock prices or worrying about whether my stocks are trading up or down or sideways or whatever the mark is doing. I am interested in those things, but that’s not my focus. So I enter the market and I’m still in the market, by buying funds like a retirement fund, a mutual fund and an IRA type mutual fund, and so if the fund managers bought Tesla stock which I’m sure they did, then I owned it indirectly, but I don’t care necessarily about where the stock is headed from day today, whether it’s up or down or sideways, doesn’t matter, because to me, you should invest in things that you believe in, not just things that you think will go up in value because we all hope and pray that that happens but because of geopolitical situations, and who’s running the government, the tax system that we have today can clearly affect how much money you will earn in the future, as it’s all tied together, and so those things matter and must be taken into consideration, no matter what your overall strategy/plan happens to be. So it’s complicated, so I wanna be in a position where I can make money in good times and bad, and have enough in reserve to weather the storms ahead, and there are storms ahead, lots of them, and you don’t have to look any further than the next election, as it’s absolutely consequential that we don’t make the wrong choice, because if we do, it is over, finished, and so everything is on line with this next selection, and if we get it wrong, it’s over, because that other guy will finish it. He has already told us what he would do, if he became president again, that he would be a dictated, not on day one, that’s what he told his audience, but what he actually meant was, starting on day one, and in the words of the late poet, laureate Maya Angelo, “when someone tells you who they are, believe them the first time.“ Cheers 🥂
Geez, you wrote an article, mate! I tend to do the same but very often the longer comments turn me off. But your comments and opinions, however long it all was, you just saved me the time to write so ething very similar. As if finding suddenly a soul mate. Except that I just last year went to retirement (made myself redundant with offer too good to refuse), but don't get paid so far because for our retirement system I need another 5 years work to be eligible. These years I worked in Australia (13 years), but I'm waiting till Australia makes my assessment of years worked. So, in the meantime, I pulled all my money into Tesla, in Nov. 2022, till Jan 2023 for an average price like ~$200.-, so I'm fully in, because I'm bullish on the product like you said. And also, another difference, I followed Trump since 1980s, because Ivana Trump was Czech as well as me. So it hit me that he went through such immense popularity before the bust, but then he became a synonym of persistence - the way he survived was, hard to find the righ word for it, basically never ever nobody did such epic battle with his creditors and won. But then suddenly he got elected and the mud slinging began. I lived through the communist propaganda in my home country, so getting adjusted to fake news, not believing their propaganda, being able to reconstruct the truth from what was omitted in the fake news comes natural to me. So, I understand your fear from the spin propaganda that he will become a dictator. But we can surely see that the same propaganda machine does the same with Elon Musk, when he started alerting us all that the freedom of speech is being taken away from us. It is a fundamental right of people living in democratic systems, yet the media argue it as if it was a bad thing. People criticise him for becoming involved in political stuff, but they are oblivious to the fact that this is an emergency and that we should be glad that there is at least one guy with balls who can change things, who fights for entire mankind. I never ever followed so far on youtube except for favorite channels. But I will follow you, because your words hit me very well, although in two fundamental things we are completely opposite. I would like to see more of your opinions for sure.

Some excellent FSD moments in this. Encouraging. Thx Jacob.
my pleasure
Fantastic to see you actually get to experience FSD.
big thanks to yashu.
Good to see you Jacob! Yesterday bought another FIVE shares TSLA, what cool demonstration FSD
Been driving in Vancouver v12 fsd for couple of days now. It's been mostly good, fewer disengagement than before. Looking forward for unsupervised fsd
Unsupervised FSD is still a long ways off.

I am from Vancouver. Hate fucking driving in downtown. I never drive into downtown unless it's for work. Parking is such a bitch down here

Can it avoid potholes?
That’s funny - 20 seconds in it makes a critical mistake.
