Chains don't help in offroad situations. They'll only dig you deeper down and get you more stuck. You rely on good tires and low psi to have a large footprint and float on top of the snow. Ice is where chains would shine, but you're rarely in icy conditions in the snow. Usually it's wet, slushy snow/mud that's the issue, especially early season like this
