We not only stayed at the insane luxury hotel in the Philippines and ate at the $50 ultra luxury buffet in the Philippines okada manila but we also got an ultra luxury okada manila breakfast buffet in the Philippines too! before u go to cebu maybe u could check out the feast of the black Nazarene in quiapo Manila I guess on the 9th. it’s crazy year after year if u watch old clips (eclipses some of India religious festivals). I’m not sure though if the govt would allow a big celebration this year.

I like it when a hotel breakfast buffet has an egg station. Be it an omelette, fried egg, scrambled or poached, pair it with toast, baked beans, sausage n baked potato, just make my day. To complete it, a belgian waffle. Yummy.

buffet in Spiral/Sofitel is likewise expensive. I just watched a vlog from an American/Chinese, he paid close to a hundred$...but it's worth it base on the array of food to choose from...you may want to try it.
@@nelliepadua7541 Yes, Spiral buffet of Sofitel is the best but also the most expensive. They also have a Lobster buffet just like Fresh buffet of Solaire but more expensive thats why i am recommending Solaire. There are food videos from Tim Lee showcasing all three buffets from Solaire, Spiral and Okada. Isaac can have all the seafoods and Tyler can have all the other dishes since he is sensitive to seafood. One of these days, i might try the Fresh Lobster buffet from Solaire coz they also serve lechon.😁

The local sausage you ate is called longganisa (long- ga-ni-sa). Every province has its own unique taste of longganisa. One province makes it sweet and spicy,others savory with garlic flavor. Another province will have it sour and spicy. It actually depends on the province. Longganisa is usually enjoyed with vinegar dip. Dip in Filipino is sawsawan pronounced sow (as in female pig)-sa-wan.
Every Filipino dish is usually with saw-sa-wan. You have to ask the server what goes well with any specific dish.

Filipino heavy breakfast is meat or salted fish, egg (protein) (tosilog, tapsilog, chicksilog, bangsilog, longsilog) with rice, but the light one is pandesal with butter or cheese sometimes sandwich spread, peanut butter or coco jam. ("Si" in silog is sinangag = fried rice. "log" is itlog=egg)
Expensive breakfast but then what do you expect since it is Okada Hotel. There are some hotels which are less expensive with same varieties of breakfast.
LongSiLog stands for:
LONGganisa (sausage)
SInangag (fried rice)
itLOG (egg)
So you just call the sausage as longganisa.
it's typical in most Asian culture to have rice for breakfast as it will provide more energy for the arduous labor ahead like farming.

I would have 5 to 6 plates for sure. I am pretty hungry when I do wakeup especially if I did not have a big dinner the previous night. I love pancakes, waffles, chocolate croissants, strawberry cheese danishes, chocolate coffee, cranberries juice, choco-maple muffins, wheat toasts with butter, granola cereal with low fat milk, couple of sunnyside eggs, peameal bacon or Irish bacon, home fries, beans in tomato sauce, breakfast sausages, spicy Spanish sardines, pan de sal, watermelon juice and some fruit slices pineapple, watermelon, cantaloupe, kiwis, oranges, grapes, blueberries, strawberries, boysenberries, some Camomille tea with low fat milk and some honey and Fiji Water. I won't be eating again until like 8:30 pm or 9:00 pm later that night
This is fun. But if you two are up for some excitement as well as challenge. I think you should try and visit the Asylum Manila or/and Nightmare Manila. (Warning: It's not for the faint heart) 😁

Hello Trifate! I hope you'd consider going Iloilo in the 2nd-3rd week of January. It will be a week-long celebration of Dinagyang Festival, one of the most beautiful festivals in the country. It will be the first face-to-face celebration after the pandemic, and the city is promising a grand event. You can get tickets for the ati-ati competition so you can watch in person the performances which I am sure you'll never forget. Iloilo City is also the most bikeable and walkable city in Ph and that will definitely fit you lifestyle *wink*. Iloilo is also famous for its inasal (fyi Mang Inasal was founded in Iloilo) and fresh seafood. I would recommend going to Tatoy's Seafood and Manokan, and Breakthrough restaurants (both in Villa) which deliver authentic Ilonggo dishes. My favorite is the darag or roasted native chicken, it's flavor profile is different than Mang Inasal but is better in my opinion. Iloilo is also known as the City of Love, the people are malambing and will be very hospitable. Hope you can take visit and I'm sure your backpacker heart will not regret it.

The $30 breakfast here in NYC is nothing. That’s Okada Manila an expensive place you guys deserved it.
its known in the Philippines that any cheap low quality US brand... the restaurant groups love to bring them to the Philippines and then charge higher than western prices for SMALLER portions. Its quite cringe... IHOP is a good example, they were selling pancakes for like 500 pesos lmao.... hence why they closed down.. oh and obviously the pancakes sucked.

I’ll just go to Pancake House or UCC in Trinoma. Probably less than $30. But thats Okada. Which is a 5 star hotel breakfast. So I guest $30 is not bad. You just keep eating like hell! 😂

filipinos will only eat meat with some rice in a buffet. but will stay away from breads. it can make you full and it's only 5 pesos outside in a bakery.. to have the "bang for the buck" experience. eat only meat + desserts ie blueberry cheesecakes!!!
