    Something else I would point out, the CX-5 which is a very reliable fun-to-drive vehicle, has one of the smallest trunks in its category. The cx50 has a wider and longer trunk but it is considered less room because of the lower profile/lower roof height of the vehicle. I drove my CX-5 between New York and Florida with the trunk loaded up about 6 times. One thing I never did was pile anything higher than the windows. When the critics say the CX-5 has more room because it has a higher roof I look at that as a moot point. i rather have longer trunk depth and width!

    I really like the way this vehicle looks. One thing I wish they included in the cx50 would be fog lamps at least with the Meridian since it's an off-road or recreational SUV.

      @@HawkeyeRides Test drove the vehicle today and luv it. One area I haven't heard anyone speak about is the decals on the hood. Meaning, how do you maintain them? Both dealerships, or at least both salesmen that I spoke with had no idea. I regularly buff wax my vehicles and it looks like you wouldn't want to get any rubbing compound, polish, or wax on them. Also, it seems that over a period of time they would eventually begin to peel off--at least on the edges. Anyone have any thoughts?

    • @HawkeyeRides
      @HawkeyeRides  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@sgt.pepper4274 I wouldn’t buff it, spray wax will be fine or a liquid clearer nothing to rub on or off. If you do not park it in direct sun light all the time it will last longer and if it does start to peel go to a aftermarket wrap / vinyl store they can fix it.

      @@HawkeyeRides thx. I tend to hang onto my vehicles longer. My first thought was if I had a problem was to go to a aftermarket wrap store, too. I still want to here what Mazda recommends. They are offering really decent incentives on this model right now (Meridian). 0% interest for 60 months or 2.9% interest for 72 months. I'm also being quoted under MSRP prices with incentives. And I'm sure they are going to go lower before it's all over. I've got 2 dealers bidding for my business and a 3rd on the way.

      Well, I picked it up today: cx-50 Meridian in the gray with the terracotta leather. Sold my 2008 Scion XB (original owner) for $7000 (dealer wanted to give me $3000) yesterday and I picked this baby up today. What an incredible vehicle. Pictures do not give this vehicle justice. For me this is the perfect balance of comfort , driving, and Zoom, Zoom. It's more on the stiff side, but it gives enough to be more than comfortable--I don't like the pillow ride. As has been mentioned, some may find the steering a little heavy, but that's the way i like it--it helps to not oversteer when pushing it harder. It just feels solid and that's the best way to explain it. The fit and finish for a 40k+ vehicle is going to be hard to beat in this sector: Honda CRV, Outback, Rav4, Kia Sportage, & Tuscon. I'm not going to say it's Lexus territory, but it's moving in that direction, especially with that terracotta leather--beautiful. If ur interested, they're a dealing right now (until the first of May) on this particular model in the cx-50 line-up with 0% interest at 60 months & 2.9% interest at 72 months. I worked 2 dealers against each other and got an incredible deal at several thousand under MSRP with some add-ons thrown in. I'm not sure why they are pushing this Meridian model like they are but I'll assume they weren't moving which was to my benefit. I did a lot of research before buying and feel like this was the best bet out there. Thanks to all the reviewers, especially Hawkeye Rides, for making my decision that much easier. Cheers!

    Compared to a subaru crosstrek? Did you mean forester? It's billed as a compact, not sub compact.

    Enjoyed the video. I really like what Mazda is doing and for a fair price. I could see them catching up with Honda and Toyota very soon.

      Thank you Sam, they are awesome vehicles, I like the direction Mazda is going and amount of value. Every company keeps increasing prices but Mazda adds features without steep price tags.

      Catching up how?
      It won’t be in sales numbers as Mazda is just a small player compared to Honda and Toyota.
      Value wise yes they have already caught them with reliability and features for the money.

    I’m a big Mazda fan.
    But this Meridian trim is totally unnecessary.
    They only added it to increase the price of the two upper trims.

    Thanks for clarifying that the off-road tires make more noise. I imagine these wider sidewall tires are better off-road or on roads with potholes or lots of winter weather like Colorado where winter tires are mandated when it snows. I imagine the low-profile tires of the other CX50s are probably better in areas where the roads are better maintained than the Northeast.
