How is that rear suspension so far coming from Cx5 ? I wanted fully independent on rear so I'm leaning heavily right now on Cx5. Not sure what Mazda is thinking marketing their Cx30 and Cx50 as premium vehicles and still using the inferior torsion beam. I test drove the Cx30 yesterday and it was impressive but I'm not convinced yet with living with it day to day. What are your thoughts ?
@@kevtn8 I love the torsion beam lol. It's stiff as hell, but loves the Twisties. These vehicles are bizarre. I have a CX30 turbo slated for minor off-road use at work and it has no idea what it was built for. Works very well on light trail use especially with upgraded tire/size, but is also fun on the road, but not really great at either. Lol I love it and am confused all the time
@@kevtn8 ....I would have gone with a CX5 but the starting ground clearance is less than a CX30. Cx5 is a great choice. Cx50 looks nice, and you can fit larger tires if that is in your future, cx50 prices are very high.
@@JSS we went and looked at one here in Connecticut. I can’t remember now what was missing compared to the premium plus. I like the looks of the Meridian and tires wheels.
@@craigc1879 HUD, ventilated seats. bose sound system, and a few more. The terracotta seats are only on the turbo models. But you can purchase the splash guards and the side garnish and the apex package as part of your vehicle purchase or separately from the parts dept of your dealership. There are other parts and accessories available to purchase as well.
Any idea when there will be mid cycle refresh for CX-50 and a 2024 release? I want to buy one, but I see many reports of issues with the first year model.
@@JSS I hope they will at least announce the 2024 model updates in June/July. If its promising, I will wait till end of year to buy or else I will look elsewhere.
@@phongpagong Yes, I heard of these complaints on reddit, but seems like its just a few vehicles - expected from a first year model. That's why I am waiting for the 2024 model.
Are the mud flaps & roof rack dealer installed with the Meridian edition? Guessing they are since they technically reduce fuel economy to far below EPA rating.
Its amazing how much people pay for factory wheel "upgrades". Its like paying for a whole new set of wheels and tires. Just buy better aftermarket wheels and tires.
@@briansturm6618 ? Hmm, well there are more and more wheel and tire shops online that will send you ready to install wheels for great prices. I've been doing that as I can avoid a tire shop completely. I guess problem there is when looking at premium wheels especially JDM wheels.
I'll never understand why some automakers will have a black sport appearance package that looks great and then they'll go sticking some stupid chrome in there to throw it all off.
There is nothing off road about this, at this price range you could get something so much better. One bump and that rear end will snap. Nice try Mazda, stick to affordable luxury.
I have the Mazda 6 Turbo (2019) - it's reliable, smooth yet powerful. Perfect for the CX-50. This is the SUV i would be buy
we got the meridian last month, 0% for 5 years was the selling point for us. wife loves it.
Just put a deposit on one! Great review. Very helpful
That's my ride exactly; have had it two weeks. Hope it plays out with zero issues like my 19 CX-5 Signature did.

That is a fantastic color on that Mazda, CX 50! Love the graphics!
The Meridian is nice looking, but it’s missing some of the features that’s in the higher trim we like sadly.
What's the higher trim that u like?
I understand. I’ve seen a lot of people add the Falcon tires to the Premium Plus. And some have added the 18” wheels and tires.

I was wondering when the cx50 hybrid will be released… do you know Mr Sewell? Gracias saludos love your reviews 👍
I hear end of year - Nov/Dec
@@TheDartdouble05 thank you //I’m waiting for my boy 😀
I like this trim with 18" wheels, I wish Mazda offer 19" for standard trim instead 20".
Beautiful… would love to see more colors though. Black… white… specifically that platinum quartz 😮
Up in the NE the last couple days...seen several of these and the standard version too. They look tough and aggressive coming at you.
Are they ever going to start making these in the entry-level trims?

I just got a Select in. That’s “the” entry level for now.
My grandma just got a CX-50 turbo premium plus she was going to get the Meridian, but didn’t have features that she wanted

The 2024 will be released late 3rd quarter around September. I would expect a mid cycle update in the 2026 or 2027 model year

How much is this one? Whats the difference between this and the CX5? They’re the same size car
That one is around $43,000. The CX5 is a little taller, a little shorter, and not as wide. You can tell a difference when they are side by side.
Are the mud flaps & roof rack dealer installed with the Meridian edition? Guessing they are since they technically reduce fuel economy to far below EPA rating.
The splash guards and the roof rack are dealer installed. There is no report of these reducing the fuel economy of the vehicle.
I hate not having a good mud guard on the front. The mud hits the wide body flares of the rear. I can see in my future rock chips on those panels.
