We’re having a lot of fun with fellow TH-camrs in this video! We’re back to find the bargains in one of the last great Goodwill stores, one where there’s plenty of vintage in every category and resellers thrive. @Yvon-ThriftyRich and I have fun showing each other “new” vintage things to seek, as she finds a handsome Always Azul regional pottery tray, and I find a deceptive Ingrid “party ball” picnic set in the cheap plastics section!
Is that piece of sterling really just $1.99?! This store makes thrifting fun again, and we pack a cart full of everything from Noritake Perspectives stemware to a Phoenix Bird ginger jar priced at 1/10 of recent eBay selling prices. Another cart of old goodies rolls out as we watch them unload the bargains! This place shows how fun thrifting can be when you find good vintage in a Goodwill.
Then it’s on to America’s Classics Marketplace, a giant antique, vintage and thrift mall to see Yvon’s mall spaces and meet David of @JunkDrunkMantiques and Sarah of @TheTraveling Button. We have lots of fun with show and tell, Yvon makes us a great deal on a Venetian glass basket and Sarah turns us on to a 1990s wood artist who turns out to be our latest BOLO (Be On the Look Out for him!). Meanwhile the pile at the counter keeps growing larger…what else did we find?

The great thing about George is he actually knows his stuff. So many people these days have no idea about antiques or collectibles, just that it "looks old" or has "some sort of signature on it." Then they take a photo to plug into a website to see how much money they can potentially get for it. I guess if that's your hustle then whatever, good for you. But it's so much nicer to see someone with real knowledge like George the Antique Nomad!
I appreciate that! I think it's important to understand what you're selling so it can reach the right collector with the right info

I laughed, I'm from the 50s, then I catch sight of myself reflected in my constellation of Syroco mirrors. I was born in the 50s & from my oversized brooch pinned to a hoodie, sterling rose rings, amber intaglio bracelet, a plastic spike of flowers adhered to a croc, white hair moving like a Norfin troll's wispy spikes in the breeze of a vintage fan...

We've been to many estate sales in Colorado Springs, which is home to many retired military veterans. We find amazing vintage items from around the world, mostly from Germany, Japan and Korea. We did find a gorgeous pomegranate themed Afghan prayer rug for $30 at the ARC, another chain of thrifts stores in Colorado. So happy George could visit our city and make some great finds!

I've been MIA for a while now, I've had some tragedies happen recently and had to sell all I've collected over the past 3-4 years for pennies as a whole then moved to Oregon.

Art Deco is my favorite and it's what I decorate my home in, I fell in love with it in the revival of the '80s when I was first starting out.
Me too! I got into the antique/vintage business when Art Deco was really at fever pitch and I always liked mixing real pieces with 80's deco revival and brutalism

Yes…Goodwills in Cincinnati have stopped selling furniture, electronics, jewelry, and art. Mostly clothes and shoes now. The Goodwill Boutiques sell jewelry and art and the best hard goods. St. Vincent de Paul still sells furniture and seem to be better than the Goodwills.
There used to be a fantastic thrift store in Cincinnati called Trivets….It had the most unique and unusual things.
Interesting information even though I’m not buying or selling anything.
I am curious to see if we have anything of value in the house when it comes to glassware. I know we have Corning pieces that I have seen an EBay seller make good money on. She also showed her viewers the break down of all the fees one has to pay besides taxes for selling an item. I simply thought one puts the items on EBay, sell the items and pay taxes and you’re done. So much stuff I would like to sell but the process is much bigger than I think I can do. Goodwill will most likely benefit.

Hi there! I'm glad this is interesting for you. It is true that there's a lot more to selling than it seems, lots of fees and interesting stuff like that. However, eBay is an international marketplace for antiques and vintage like none other, so there a lot goes.
Before you get to the Goodwill part, you might consider having a reseller look at what you have and make an offer, at least you get something and they make profit for doing the annoying part of the selling.

The pfaltzgraff pear is so cute! My mom had that yellow one and I was on a mission to find one for awhile. I ended up getting a white one from an antique mall, but have I EVER used it? Nope.

Good evening, George! This one seems to have taken a bit of work to get going. Wow! I wish that had been some of the Hull Green Drip saucers. That Goodwill is a really good one! Those Old Paris vases were fantastic! Yvon has some really nice items in her booths. I liked those large traps, on the floor, at the end. That was a super-good mall! It'd be fun to browse that one all day! Thanks for the take-along!!!

Yes it was! Had a terrible time getting the Goodwil music past TH-cam. I wanted to highlight the Old Paris because I didn't have time to get into the more antique focused showcases this trip! The traps were interesting to me, and I really liked the double sleigh bells. Thanks for coming along!

The thing about that - every song that was playing can be found on YT for anyone to listen to just by putting the title in the search🙄 If/when you get back to that mall, I hope you have more time to spend there. The 80’s furniture at the beginning of the video at the Goodwill…..My sister had that exact set with the dresser/mirror and bed/headboard and they were like a big fan..Mirror and Headboard…..I helped her move from Georgia to Cincinnati and that bedroom set was Soooo Heavy!
She later on gave it all away on Neighbor’s Next Door…And that person had to move it.
Yes George, it is nice to see thrift stores where some great items trickle out, definitely NOT like that here in coastal SC. I’ve been sticking more to yard/ estate sales. OMG Yvon’s booth looks AMAZING! She has really put the work in and it shows. 🪩🛼🛼

We talk about the “lag” when watching live sales, but I’m thinking there is a major “lag” from real time when these videos come out. This one must’ve been a week or two (maybe more?). Great bolo on the cranberry 👌 I do pick it up from time to time. Rossi glass in particular does well for me. I used to collect it in the 90's and have a soft spot for it. So appreciate how professionally respectful you are with your reseller cohorts and just adore Yvon 😊

Thank you for your videos. I like to pick a few of your tips about what to look for when thrifting. I am so jealous of the Goodwill stores, my local ones are so sparse. Very little home goods and expensive over priced t-shirts. I do find bargains but their few and far between. Peace love and happiness 2022

I have several pieces of that hull brown drip glaze I find it interesting. It's so heavy too. I agree w you on the sticky labels always over the mark. If they just put it anywhere else but there it would be a great thing.....I have seen soooo many destroyed stickers that you can't even read the price.

Oh jeez that 80’s furniture, I had a Formica set back in the early 90’s that was black with black and green marble accents and a black and teal zebra print comforter and other that abstract art that was popular back then lol

The red picnic set was called The Party Ball. I worked for a co that sold them, and of course I had to have one. I wonder what it did with it? Haven't seen it since the early 80's....hmmmm....

Depends on the thrift store when you peel off labels, George. I got kicked out of a Unique for six months for that! I am a big fan of Rinconada. I would have knocked Misty down to get to that Pegasus! Great stuff. Could spend a day there. Bring snacks and drinks!
I have heard some really object to it, but they sure make shopping hard by plastering them over things! Yes, we did bring snacks lol
🤣🤣Charie, I have shown that Artesania Rinconada Pegasus several times in my own “Thrift with Me” videos and several subscribers have asked me to go get it for them, but sadly it has a chip, a little bit too big to repair for serious collectors…But it’s a cool piece because it’s a little bit bigger than their average little critters 💗
