      People who are from Talledega (like me) pronounce it "diga" but the races are TallaDEGA. It makes absolutely no sense but it's how I have always pronounced and heard it pronounced around here lol

      The art shop on battlestreet in Talladega literally sells shirts that have the pronunciation written out. It's tallaDIGuh for sure. It's only "dega" if you're talking about the races.

    Most Alabama names of towns and cities are Native American. That's why many are hard to pronounce. I always have to spell out Wetumpka for others because they cannot figure it out by pronunciation.

    I grew up 50 miles from there. That's how I have always heard it pronounced.
