I had this same F5E2 error code on my Kenmore top load washer. I cleaned the stationary part on the lid locking mechanism on the front center of the washer lid with rubbing alcohol and Qtips. I then cleaned the locking mechanism area on the front center of the washer body. I then gently pried forward the little locking tab and cleaned it, getting to the underside with the Qtips. I then lubricated the top and bottom of the tab with a garage door silicone lubricant, using the tip of my little finger on a gloved hand. It worked. Saved me at least a repair bill, and at most the cost of a new washer. THANK YOU!
Was having the same issue and I saw your post as I was about to buy the part. The cleaning and silicone lubricant did the trick and it works now! Thanks for posting this!
You and this video are awesome!!! We were able to get the part locally and got the washer fixed the next business day. $100 for the part and it was about 30 minutes to fix because one of the screws fell down and we had to hunt for it. 🤦🏻♀️ Thank you so much!

Thanks for your and other videos tips, it did it. Unfortunately for me, couldn’t find the part been Saturday. They will open Monday . Thanks, blessings
I was cleaning my machine and I got the latch area wet and was getting the f5 code. I was able to take out the thing and dry the motor and board on the latch and now it’s working again. Thanks for the video you saved me from buying a new washer!

This was very helpful, thank you. One thing I would add is, don't over-torque the screws on the locking unit - I broke the plastic with one half-turn too many.
I think this is a design flaw in this particular cabrio model. We ran in to the same issue but I cleaned the locking mechanism with some 99% iso and then used some dielectric grease on the lock itself. It's worked great for two years. The issue is there is no shielding on the washing tub rim. You can literally reach your fingers up and touch the lock lid so it is exposed to moisture all the time.
Thank you so much for this comment! Just saved me $100 bucks! Spent a few minutes cleaning out all the rust and gunk with alcohol and regressed with dielectric grease, works like a champ!
Be forewarned: There's 2 tabs at the front of the washer that stick up and have to be aligned with small holes in the lid in order to get it seated properly. They bend very easily and will keep the lid from going down all the way if they're not straight.
I cleaned my washer using my bissell steamshot and it started giving me the F5 E3 code. I unplugged it immediately, opened up the lid, and turned the celing fan on high overnight. Thankfully it dried it right up, and works just fine now.
Hi, I'm having some of the same issues with my Cabrio. The error codes are F5- E3. My washer was running at the time cut off and displayed the error codes. I did all of the troubleshooting, but nothing. I can't get the door to unlock to replace the part. Can someone help me?
@Kendra007 Yes, I did manage to fix it. I had to take the washer apart to get to the locking mechanism. The replacement part was the most expensive part. If you need help, let me know.
I had to call the repair guy last week because I got another code and really wasn't sure what the problem was. I need two pieces that cost $800, so I might as well get a new one at that point, but it still works.

Did the same. An alcohol pad and some petroleum jelly, working great again. Your comment gave me the idea! Thank you!
@@grandprixfamily glad it helped! Replacement part is $100 but the fix is pennies!

Mine is also leaking water from the bottom as well. Would that be a different issue as well.
Yes, I would think so. Did you check the hoses in the back of the washer?
