It’s how he was trained. He was a learner of Dusty Rhodes and Bill Watts, who give little to no attention about Japan. And Corny cared little about Japan, mostly during the 90s tape trading era but that is about it.
It’s lazy to assume Japan = awesome. It’s also not great to automatically slag guys from Japan. Jim is better than this but it’s too lucrative to not do better.
He watched and reviewed that Global Force English broadcast of Wrestle Kingdom 9 back in 2015, and raved about Okada vs. Tanahashi. This is now lost to history, and Jim is now full gimmick. He even reviewed the first Okada vs. Kenny match back in 2017. He knows full well who Okada is.

I have never liked the idea that wrestlers just walk around in their ring gear. It makes absolutely no sense. I can understand wanting them to be more presentable, but the idea that someone would be going about their normal life backstage *in spandex* until he made an "unexpected" run-in to save a friend from a beat-down always made as much sense to me as a delayed vertical suplex
there is a clip of reDragon from ROH times, where they, at least from what they declare, are heading out to party to the town. They exit the door in their ring gear and with the titles.
When you play sports you wear a uniform. Sometimes there is practice gear sometimes there isn't. If your a wrestler I would imagine it to be similar, wearing gear/uniform when competing. When you get there before a game you suit up and go practice, work out whatever. Then later after that you get your uniform on as game time approaches and wear it throughout the game. You can be fined for not wearing it sometimes by the team or the league. I would assume that during a card, matches that wrestlers would be in ring gear and if something happened during a match they would go out in their gear. I see no loss of continuity for a wrestler to be in ring gear during a card/show. I wouldn't expect anything other. Why would he be in street clothes during a wrestling show? What would happen if someone got hurt and they needed a fill in? Guys would have to be ready for anything especially being a younger or less experienced wrestler. I would figure they would want to appear ready for anything.

Okada is a SUPERSTAR. That LOOKS like a superstar and it is treated like such in Japan. But when he appeared dressed like me on Dynamite instead of one of his legendary entrances (should've gotten 1997 Sting levels of pop) I was very very let down but not as much as wasting him on a 4 way...

It’s how he was trained. He was a learner of Dusty Rhodes and Bill Watts, who give little to no attention about Japan. And Corny cared little about Japan, mostly during the 90s tape trading era but that is about it.
It’s lazy to assume Japan = awesome. It’s also not great to automatically slag guys from Japan. Jim is better than this but it’s too lucrative to not do better.

I have never liked the idea that wrestlers just walk around in their ring gear. It makes absolutely no sense. I can understand wanting them to be more presentable, but the idea that someone would be going about their normal life backstage *in spandex* until he made an "unexpected" run-in to save a friend from a beat-down always made as much sense to me as a delayed vertical suplex
If they're looking for a match it makes sense but yeah other than that I agree
there is a clip of reDragon from ROH times, where they, at least from what they declare, are heading out to party to the town. They exit the door in their ring gear and with the titles.
When you play sports you wear a uniform. Sometimes there is practice gear sometimes there isn't. If your a wrestler I would imagine it to be similar, wearing gear/uniform when competing. When you get there before a game you suit up and go practice, work out whatever. Then later after that you get your uniform on as game time approaches and wear it throughout the game. You can be fined for not wearing it sometimes by the team or the league. I would assume that during a card, matches that wrestlers would be in ring gear and if something happened during a match they would go out in their gear. I see no loss of continuity for a wrestler to be in ring gear during a card/show. I wouldn't expect anything other. Why would he be in street clothes during a wrestling show? What would happen if someone got hurt and they needed a fill in? Guys would have to be ready for anything especially being a younger or less experienced wrestler. I would figure they would want to appear ready for anything.
