I've partnered with Soltech Solutions to bring you this video in which I install and review the Highland Track Light System, one of the most aesthetically pleasing houseplant grow light systems on the market (in my opinion). These are the best lights, they are no joke, they serve as both a grow light and a regular light so you can ditch some of your lamps that take up space, and the light is a warm color. My rubber tree has not stopped unfurling new leaves since I started using it and it is going on 8 months now and it is still going and I need to repot it. Before the aspect light it was dropping leaves. I also use it for......the best part, my citrus trees. I can now raise citrus in my house! I have a dwarf meyer lemon, 2 kumquats, a calamondin orange, and an owari satsuma and they do great, I am actually looking forward to bringing them in for the winter because they will start to flower and smell and look beautiful, so they really help with the grayness of winter. These lights are the best. I am now looking into purchasing the track system for my kitchen.
I splurged and bought the small white Aspect light a couple years ago. Went up easy once I figured out how to get the hook drilled into my condo cement ceilings. My plants are loving it and light looks attractive.

I have just received and installed the Highland with two spots. For about a year, I already own an Aspect lamp which I enjoy very much. However, I am disapointed by the quality of the railing system of the Highland. Also, of the two spots I have ordered, they appear of a different color temperature even if they have the same spec and model number on the back. I am waiting for tech support to reply, their support is usually very responsive and helpful. One other point I realized after ordering, is that the railing system appears to be standard and made by a third party. I don't think they explicitely mention this on their website, but I believe you could slide a Soltech lamp into an existing railing system or shorter rail or of better quality.

I've always liked the look of these. I'm currently using GE full spectrums, but I don't think they're as strong as the soltech bulbs. I can really only do low light plants with them.

I know you said it wasn’t as intense in person as it was on camera but I’m curious if you think you could have done less cans... do you think the 3 will eventually be a little overkill? Maybe you could tilt the two on the ends to reach some plants in the corners?

Looks great, I've been thinking about these lights since Nick P. was showing the aspect light but I can't get past the price yet. Maybe a good Christmas gift to ask for from the hubs. The track light works perfect in your space. Did you replace the dying staghorn fern already?

I’ve got a Bunnings grow light but they are fixed and the plants will be too close to the light. I’m looking for a solution to mount the light higher so I haven’t used them yet.
@@mrsbeard5225 i found a hanging light fitting on Amazon. I can plug it into a normal socket and clip the lead to the wall/ceiling. I put a grow bulb into the fitting and it works fine.

@@mrsbeard5225 This is the one I got. I wanted one with a shade. You can get similar on ebay, but with no shade. I hope it works for you. The Soltek ones are fabulous and they don't use bulbs. Yep, they've been thriving on this wall since 2019 beneath these lights.
I really really want a Soltech pendant light, but they are costly for Canadians, so I am very interested to find out how they stand the test of time. Do you have a follow up review about how they are working now? Or do you know how many years (at 12 hours a day) they are supposed to last for? Thanks!
I will make a follow up video soon. They work really well and I'm very happy with the result. My plants are really healthy and thriving. I would buy another if I were in the market for indoor grow lights.

They're 30 watt bulbs. If you look into your electric company and see what they charge per kilowatt hour you can calculate it.

No, but they have done wonders. My staghorn ferns look amazing and I am extremely satisfied with the lights. I will make a video about it when I get a chance. I wasn't sure if I'd truly be impressed, but I am.

Does anyone know whats the difference between hoya burtonaie and hoya bilobata? I bought a hoya which had a very informative tag that said"hoya mix"... i'm not sure what plant that is.. it has a peduncle but isnt in bloom yet.

When I was a callow youth I bought the only broad spectrum plant light then available. It was super powerful in watts terms (ie expensive to run), super bright, super hot and painful to look at. My parents were *SO* patient and understanding to allow that! It was hideous.
SolarTech - and all modern versions - are far, far superior.
(PS - Unbeknown to me, these lights became very popular with illegal commercial growers of cannabis. I had ordinary plants in awkward corners. What was the driving force in plant light advances? a) drugs b) horticulture? )

The equivalent of natural daylight in a bulb is 6500k generally you dont want to go below 4000k because it's very low light. Here in Australia you can get a 2 pack of 5000k led bulbs from a hardware store for 10 aud I dont see how this is a very efficient use of light. Even though it does look nice I feel as though this is a very gimmicky pretty product that isn't that great of a value overall as other LED bulbs have a higher colour temperature with a lower wattage therefore cost less to run...
I imagined the same thing, however I have read good reviews and people seem to get good results from this light system. I will definitely give an update this winter on how my ferns are doing. Last year they did very poorly in the winter.
A typical hardware 5500k daylight bulb does cost less and use less energy, but doesn't provide the same emission spectrum as natural sunlight. incandescent-vs-compact-fluorescent-vs-led-ultimate-light-bulb-test You could look for a bulb with a high CRI value, which is the measure of how accurately it reproduces the spectrum compared to daylight (CRI of 100). Ive noticed the better grow bulbs I have tried have a higher CRI. A lot full spectrum grow bulbs will show the spectral distribution and CRI value of the light emitted, so its easier to compare and know what you are paying for. Unfourtanately, as the CRI goes up, so does the price.
edit- sorry not sure y the link isn't working, but hope this still helps. Also take this with a grain of salt, I'm no expert, just trying to get my plants through Washington winters.

I purchased it from Zooplus.fr a few years ago. I have a couple of videos of my cat Worm on my channel.
Went to try and purchase but the website only deals in USD CAD or AUD. Conatcted the company and they said they have no European way to pay so my bank would have to exchange the money (at a shocking rate) and then charge me for an international payment. Even with the 15% off I would still be paying more than the asking price.

The reason that the link they'd provided me with didn't work was due to a technical issue. They usually give people coupon codes like mine. They told me it was the first time they'd tried an automatic code application with the tracking url and it did not work so the coupon code is the only option.

The ligths seems to be very good, but! in Europe we have 230 volt, in VS it is 115 - 120 volt, (E260 We should need E27 bulbs. I think (of course) Solltech does not produce the bulbs, it should be Philips, Osram or Sylvana. We need the 230 v models.
I live in France. They work great, I have two sets of the track lights, their Aspect Pendant light, as well as the grow bulb.
@@betsybegonia I just hear that the bulbs should also work on 230 volt. The only problem is that you will get an import duty on top of the price.
