    ABOUT THIS VIDEO: Grow lights for houseplants | grow lights 101 (for houseplants 🌿)
    This video is an introductory video on grow lights for houseplants, so if you want to learn the basics on grow lights for houseplants this will be a helpful guide :). We will talk about grow lights for houseplants, as well as grow lights for succulents (and therefore growlights for cactus as well). These are especially great growlights for succulents in winter (for my succulents in winter, I am using the sansi grow light and it has worked really well), and will be talking about two kinds of grow lights: LED grow lights and CFLs (compact flourescent lights). Let me know if you have any questions! I will make sure to reply :)

    Thank you for all the details. I am new to plant lights and I recently purchased a fullspecrum LED 80w grow light. I have a question please... I have partial shade plants (wax begonias, ivy, Lilly of the valley, prayer plant, etc), but even on the brightest setting the light seems dim. I have it about 4" from the leaves at present. Is 80 watts enough? It's a 4 arm light so I can adjust it, but the brightness on it's highest setting seems yellow not white even though it's listed as full spectrum. The plants are in a corner away from windows. Thanks, Tamara

This was really informative and also great explained how to use these, the difference, combining them etc. I've read and watched everything related to light for indoor plants and what I should buy before it get so dark here in Sweden. Still no lamps haha couldn't find anything that wasn't all about just one or way to large and lighting up the house for the neighbors! 😄 Finally understand what the difference is and what I need! Now I just need to find these with a good price because it's overpriced in Sweden! Thank you again! Watching more from your channel next! ❤️🌼

      Yes I'm looking on Amazon etc to find something in a country nearby, but the shipping is really expensive. But I'm currently looking at lights from UK, the shipping is a little bit cheaper 😊 but don't know if the lights are good though because the ones recommended from US is of course not available 😅 *pulling my hair out* 😭😂🌸

    What a great video! Thanks, Lucía! For the great content and good vibe :)
    I have a question for you: I’ve seen people placing grow lights in floor lamps, or even in the sealing. Is that a good practice?

    • @PlantsandLucia
      @PlantsandLucia  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      :) You can definitely place a grow light in a normal floor lamp. However, the material of the lamp (specifically the housing of the lamp) will make a difference on how long your light lasts. This is because of heat absorption. For example, some grow lights come with a housing made of aluminum, which tends to absorb the heat produced by the LED light - this helps the cooling process within the housing and in consequence the LED board doesn't heat up so much (which un turn, helps it last longer). I hope this helps! If it is just al LED light bulb, you can place it in a lamp (make sure that it is full spectrum, as it is better for your plants :))

    Hi, I have a bay laurel plant with a blue & red grow light, set to 12h light, 12h rest. Is that good for this kind of plant?
    Cheers.

    Hii Lucia!! Love your videos! I have a question I noticed that you have some circle lights by you crates that you have on the wall . I'm looking for small lights like those to put underneath my tv stand since the sunlight won't reach it ...do you have a link for the ones you use ..or have any recommendations?
    Thank you ☺️

    Great video! Thank you! How much grow light should I provide to my calatheas and begonias? I do have the LED blue and red as well as the fluorescent agrobrite grow lights. Are you familiar with the agrobrite light? As the calatheas and begonias are very fussy, I try to give them a good 7 - 8 hours a day of indirect bright light, but am not sure if this is acceptable. Please advise! I live in NYC and we have long dark winters so more often than not I have to rely exclusively on the grow lights during the winter. Thanks again!

      @PlantsandLucia  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hii! I haven’t tried the agrobite grow lights... but will see if I can do my research on those.. for my calatheas, I know they actually like lower light conditions, so I don’t have them under growlights, and they seem to be doing great 👍. Do you have a picture of your calatheas by any chance? You can send it on IG and we can see how they are doing with the light 😊🪴💡

    Hola 👋 gracias por tu explicación, tengo una duda; cuántas horas debo exponer las plantas la primera vez que las expongo a las luces? Las mismas 12 horas que si ya están adaptadas o no?

    I'm thinking about getting some lights I've just started getting into plants. from what I've learned my light isn't strong enough to be considered bright indirect light. the plants I have may be alright, but I want them to thrive. if I get lights do I need to only use them when the sun is down? or do I use the lights in combo with whatever comes in the window.

    Hi Lucia!!! Thanks for this video :) but what about how many lumens or watts a grow light have to have? I can't buy an "official" grow light because here in Chile they are soooo expensive but I could buy one at the local hardware store. I was thinking in one with 6500K (cold), 1350 lumens and 14 or 18W. The days over here are starting to be darker and darker :( Help, please :B

    Thank you. Excellent presentation. Very informative. For houseplants receiving low light in any time of the day, can i use optional lights like LED lamp near these plants during night time instead of day time? Hoping for your response.

    • @PlantsandLucia
      @PlantsandLucia  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! I just saw I missed your comment..! As long as you are providing consistent light and they are not getting natural light in the day and grow lights in the night, it should be okay.. You want to provide your plants with the light conditions that they need... What I did here is that for my high light loving plants, I places them close to a grow light 8 hours during the day (as here we do not receive so much light during the day in the winter), and then I'd turn the grow light off at night :)
