Thanks for the demonstrations... I've bought both mil spec buffer tube and stock and somehow I was convinced my stock was commercial. This video assures me I've got the right parts.

Great video! Lots of good info. I just want to add that the process of making these tubes are very different. MIL-SPEC tubes are machined out of a solid piece of billet aluminum. Because of this, they are more rigid and thinner walled than the COM-SPEC tubes. The COM-SPEC tubes use an extruding process which cuts down on the production cost and is a little weaker. Just thought you would like to know.

I did not know that. All the more reason to always go milspec.

Right on great video! I didn't know there was a commercial stock or buffer tube. I just knew of mil spec. For people like me and this being my first ar and don't know certain things about the ar platform.
    Much appreciated!!!
    Thx William

Nice description between the buffer tube sizes. All my AR builds use the Mil Spec tubes and have replaced many commercial tubes to Mil Spec tubes also. Quality on the Mil Spec is much nicer. Nicely done G2.

When u change the buffer tube from commercial to mil spec will I be able to use the same springs ? Or will I need the tube and the set of springs n tools to go with it

Also the buffer is sloppy loose in the aftermarket buffer tube. Sometimes allowing the buffer tube retainer/spring to pop loose in the lower receiver and jam the trigger. Mil spec is the only to go, IMO!

as long as the stock fits on the tube it should be fine right? Its not going to break if I have a stock on the wrong tube?

    • @G2niverse

it should yeah, might be a little wobbly or tight depending on the configuration.

Hey man, like your camo design on your AR-15 receiver. How do you apply the camo design?

    • @G2niverse
      @G2niverse  4 ปีที่แล้ว

Using vinyl stickers and various color spray paint

If you change a lower from a commercial to a mil-spec, do you need to make any spring and buffer changes?

My AR came with a commercial tube and shitty A2 stock. Would it be worth it to upgrade the tube and stock instead of just going with a commercial stock?

I recall a political drive for America to adopt the metric system, however, balanced minds prevailed and for intelligent and logical reasons the attempt was denied. We have every right to use any system of measurement to accomplish a program.
I welcome your reply, I must now complete reloading my 11.43mm ammunition. LOL

What’s .92 mm in inches, bro? Quick, off the top of your head. Don’t be so daft. There’s a good reason even the best American scientists use the metric system almost exclusively. Even your small pocket pal is more impressive sounding in centimeters than inches. You must not be a 9mm fan. Or, as relates to this video, 5.56. That’s millimeters too.
