I love the "No" variant better, because both the player and Kris _agree_ that this is FUBAR and they allow them to say it like it is. It's just like that rare moment of synchronicity.
something makes me feel weird about ralsei. It feels like he knows something that we don't. I have a feeling that he is going to play a bigger role in chapter 3.
Something to think about... in the snowgrave route, when you reach Noelle's room, Ralsei does the transition to make the player go to Susie's point of view. 'Don't you wonder', etc, etc. But it doesn't switch. And here's the key thing, *_Ralsei recognises that we don't switch._* He repeats what he said in hopes it would make us switch. Then starts to wait after seeing it didn't work. And when Susie reemerges again afterwards, he says 'Wait, we were supposed to-', most likely in reference to switching POVs. Meaning he knows about us switching POVs. He also asks Susie about what happened in there afterwards, maybe trying to let us, the player, know what happened in there as we didn't see it? Or possibly could *he* see what we see when we switch to Susie's POV, which is why he asks about what happened in there. And maybe, just maybe, when we're watching Susie, Kris is in control as our soul isn't with them. And both times we switched to Susie's POV, Ralsei and Kris have been left alone with eachother. What could they be talking about... Especially considering the 'So that's why...' we see after both times we switch back to Kris's POV in the Normal Route
@@Tesseract61987He also has shown he has lied to Kris and Susie. He claimed in chapter 1 that he’d never left the dark world and had never met anyone. Yet he knew Susie and Kris by name, in chapter 2 he knew there was an east classroom and that contained the card castle people. His explanation for knowing where and how to get to cyber world is non existent, and has brushed off a lot of major events for no reason. He def knows more than he’s letting on, i dont think he’s evil i think he is just aware of the player controlling Kris and is trying to keep us in the dark as much as possible. This would also be why in this scene if you say yes he acts like nothings wrong with Kris. Could be smth more tho. Interestingly, the character tea that you can get from the vendor in cyber city, depending on the relationship it changes how much it heals. like if noelle drinks Susie's tea its like 400 hp cuz she has a crush on her. Kris drinking susies is like 120 same thing vice versa. Whats weird is no matter how well u treat ralsei, kris drinking his tea is a whopping like 60 hp. literally the only one lower than that is noelle and ralsei who i dont think have even spoke. Kris for whatever reason really doesnt like ralsei (possibly because of resemblance to brother but why would he hate asriel?)
What about this ... Ralsei is a complete liar, he lied to us about the dark fountains and is actually interested in opening new fountains to get more subjects (power). And accordingly, he will be the final villain and works in cahoots with the soulless Kris. Therefore, the only way to effectively fight him is to follow the path of Genocide and not allow him to gain new subjects. And that is why it's critically important for us (the player) to make Noelle strong and so that she listens to US and not Kris. Because we will use her in the final confrontation with Ralsei and soulless Kris.
Freedom is a big concept in Deltarune. Jevil, Spamton, and Kris are all not free, in their own sad ways. Jevil spent almost his whole life locked in his cage, believing he was free. He wasn't, but he managed to convince himself that he was the ONLY free one while everyone outside was trapped. This coincides with him being a joker, as they can usually beat every card in the game but are rarely used. This is similar to Jevil's situation, where he do anything but had been locked in a cage the entire time, not allowed to do his things. Meanwhile, Spamton and Kris know they are not free. Spamton is controlled by who-knows-what, and Kris is controlled by the player. Spamton even painted the walls of his shop to look like the outside world. While Jevil persuaded himself to think he was free and succeeded, Spamton and Kris persuaded themselves to believe they were free but failed. This was why Kris was so shaken up and fighting Spamton. They saw Spamton's insanity and how their situation was the same.
@@archetypalheart7572 definetly!! Thats probably what got Kris so shaken up- imagen what theyre thanking right now. Theyre probably thinking that they will never have control becuse if they do brake free they will just die!
If you want to feel even more guilty during the game, keep in mind the fact that Kris is a child or at best a teenager. They can't be more than 14. In childhood, apparently, they were quite easy to manipulate, but with age this trait disappeared. And now, Kris, who has already learned not to trust everyone, is simply being taken under control from nothing. Even when Susie asks Kris specifically if they are okay, the choice of answer is left to the player. They can't even call for help.
I think they’re older than that. Berdly has a part time job and most places you gotta be at least 15 to work. Plus Kris can somewhat drive as seen in the part with Queen and Noelle. Id wager they are closer to 15-17, no older than 18 probably in Junior or year around 16-17
I just got Deltarune on my little brother's Nintendo and when doing Ras's dummy fight. I didn't want to hug the dummy for Kris's sake but I had no choice to do it since I tried checking it multiplie times didn't work to spare it. I'm sorry Kris. 😭
This is such a chilling animation. I especially like how when Susie says "broke," it looks more like she's referring to Kris breaking rather than Spamton. I thought that was a nice touch. I got goosebumps!
This is so awesome! I love your designs of the characters, and my favorite little detail is Spamton's glasses turning to static when they break. Great work :D
Or that at some point we get the option to willfully leave his body from time to time so he can do a bit more, untie some of the strings, give him a bit of freedom, and maybe have a healthy soul to body relationship (of course that would be hard coded so whatever Kris does doesn't advance the story and can't get in a battle) and that the chapters advanced a bit differently with that factor, if you take any snowgrave like route that option just jumps out the window, but if you play Pascifist, it could bring a whole 'nother meaning to souless Pascifist
