- It was time to add some stronger armor to the front and rear of the Jeep JT Gladiator Rubicon after denting my rear bumper on a small tree. These new bumpers from JC Whitney and Carparts.com are well built, incredibly tough and look great!

Rear looks OK, I like the stock look better for both front and rear. Looks like the brush guard arrived dented? That sucks.
Nope. I dropped it. It arrived perfect and well packaged.
I may have missed it in the video but did you have an actual weight on either of the bumpers? I caught them being heavier than stock
I did not weigh them. Definitely heavier. The factory bumpers are made of very thin steel.

I always cringe when I see you do this stuff in bare feet but way to use that foot to hold up the bumper.

I really like the rear bumper. but the front bumper needs some work. I have one ? how the front camera view, it looks like the winch may blocking some view.
I do wish the winch mount was recessed as it does block some of the camera view but the camera is still very functional.
In my 62 years I have never seen anybody working on a vehicle in their bare feet. When did you develop an aversion to wearing shoes? : )

Price point is great, but I would have thought you would have gone for a high clearance option in the rear since you drag so much haha.
Nothing will actually give me better clearance in the rear unless I remove the trailer hitch and that's not going to happen. The new bumper is no different clearance wise than that the factory one but it's a lot stronger.

I like both. JCW used to be where I got a lot car parts. Never thought about bumpers or stuff like that. 👍👍👍
Loved the catalogs that jcw would send out and according to my dad, back in the day if you had a car whose parts are hard to come by you could always rely on jcw to have the parts you needed, and iirc they still do that to an extent.
What model/ brand of rear rock bars/ skid bar is that?
How did the bare feet and metal shavings from the front bumper light install work? LOL. I had metal in my feet for a day doing same thing for my fridge slide install (that rebel off road slide doesn't fit with their bed slide holder..have to drill holes)
No issues. But my feet are pretty callused from going bare feet a lot. Lol.
First time commenting, many videos of yours watched though. I like the bumpers a lot. Like the Gladiator overall too. I'm a Rubicon JK owner. (Really want to get it lifted, with tires, rims, bumpers etc.Lots of $$$$$ though lol)
I've gotten bumpers for a truck I had, and an engine guard for a motorcycle I had years back too from JC Whitney. I think the real first temptation to get a Jeep some day was from the Jeep section of their ink-and-paper catalog that I had about 20-some years ago.

Are those as heavy as it looked? Dang. They should give you much better protection than the factory setup. Did you get the fog lights figured out?
They are much heavier than the factory bumpers! Still waiting on the fogs.

Hi Matt, love your Gladiator build and love watching your videos! I see you have a front facing camera. Just wondering how badly the winch and front hoop obstruct the view? I"m looking at changing my factory steel front to a Fab Fours and it has a front hoop and higher winch mount similar to the bumper you have.
This bumper didn't do well with the front camera and is a big reason why I no longer run this bumper. A bumper with a recessed winch mount is much better with the camera.

Somewhere in my book collection i have a Warshawsky & Co. catalog, i remember they advertised Model A fenders. Then in 1937 they changed their name to become J.C.Whitney & Co.
Couple of questions on the front bumper. Is it a smooth or textured finish? Will the factory JL fog lights fit? I saw you had some issues but it looks like you had your factory for lights installed. My wife purchased a bumper from a company I won't name that said OEM sized fog lights and they aren't even close. They included some cheap lights that are already fogged up and didn't send the correct wiring harness so they aren't even working. We've been waiting almost 2 months for the wiring harness and still don't have it. Already looking for a replacement and this JCW bumper is a contender.
Matt, great video! Definitely like the rear bumper. Have yet to see any price friendly tire carrier bumper options. The front bumper may grow on me but I really like the classic 9” round lights on the front and large hoop. Having a subcompact tractor was pretty nice when I did the ARB bull bar on my truck without an extra set of hands 😉…I’m still trying to decide which way to go on the bumper, but I think this looks like an excellent option and looks great on your rig! My favorite part is your willingness to do the work yourself! I think that’s the BEST part of owning a Jeep! ~Jon
I just put a new bumper on my brand new gladiator. Tip to all: in addition to 8 bolts to remove bumper, loosen 2 bolts on each side of vehicle because holes will not align. When you loosen those gusset things and screw in bumper using 8 bolts, screw in the gussets after. I spent 2 hours fumbling like a moron trying to figure out why bumper wont fit. Holes did not align… loosened gussets and bam….
I used to love the JC Whitney catalog/magazine when I was a teen - back in the 80’s! Feel your pain on the tree…. Found the only one on Poison Spider and dented my bumper and knocked out the passenger tail light. $1000 worth of damage, price of having fun.
PS Traded my 2020 JLU Rubicon for a 2021 JT Rubicon your vids sinched the decision! Happy I made the change

I miss getting the JC Whitney catalogs in the mail. They were a wishbook for auto and motorcycle people. Love the look of the bumpers on Sully. If I didn't already have aftermarket bumpers, I would definitely be looking at the offerings from JC Whitney

Rear bumper looks good, I prefer front bumpers that allow the winch to drop in between the rails. I like the low profile and I don’t like to block the grill. 🇺🇸😎

The rear bumper is fantastic! the front bumper, meh, it is better than stock, I'm just not involve with it.
I may buy the rear bumper it looks great. They need to do a better job of covering the winch on the front bumper, not crazy about it.
Never would have thought JCW would have had bumpers either. Wonder what else they have? Great video once again and love the bumpers

I (think) I noticed you got your skid plate back on without drilling holes using the Warn winch plate. I’d like to know how you did that. I installed the Warn winch plate last week and could not get the bolt holes on the skid plate to line up. Good looking bumpers and great video.
I didn't have to drill any holes for the warn winch plate and factory bumper. I don't remember any major issues.
