Story 2: people seeing giant pigs is not actually that outlandish of an incident, at least in the US. Sometimes an escaped pig will hybridize with wild bores you can get a hybrid that will be twice as big as either of the parents. We're talking 500 to 1000 pound pig. Even worse, they're _aggressive._ This is just one more reason why Americans have so many freakin' guns... Giant rampaging pigs!
Story 1: While I didn't have that much of a funny reaction I did have to deal with a massive swarm of bees descending upon a large pine tree in my yard last summer. According to the pest control company that came out to look at the swarm they said it was the biggest they've had ever see. They guessed that it was well over 100K bees. Luckily thought they all left on their journey a day and a half later. But it was anxiety inducing, given that I'm somewhat allergic to their stings.
That egg one brought tears to my eyes and I don’t even have those bits.
IKR? The thing is... how did he not "sober up" while cutting it out? Not _completely_ sober, but sober enough to realize "Hey, this really frichen hurts!!"
If its dark out in a one stoplight town, I think its safe to say that anyone would think a hippo was a really big pig. But I would still call 911 regardless of what the animal is, a pig on its own could do some serious damage (they are big animals) but a hippo is super dangerous.
I mean bees are no joke once they're angry, not entirely sure if the usual responders have a lot of resources to deal with them though, maybe fire department if they can get to a nearby-ish hydrant but I'm not sure how much angry bees would be bothered by water. Of course eventually you'd look for a beekeeper or pest control but in a panic no one is going to be able to find their phone number in a hurry.
I learned the hard way that the "locked in the car" thing is actually not impossible. A friend's new car had a security feature neither of us knew about where the car auto-locks the doors if anyone tries to unlock it from the inside while the keys are gone. (I'm guessing some "keys are gone and doors are locked, unlocked door must be a burglar who smashed a window" logic.) So friend and I stop at a gas station while testing said new car, he gets out and takes the keys with him, I decide to stay in the car and lock the doors for safety, but change my mind and decide to get out and stretch for a second. Unlock door. Door re-locks, lights start flashing, alarm goes off, the whole works. I try every door and they all re-lock every time until my friend comes back with the key. So yeah, it's not impossible.
that feels like a horror story waiting to happen - virus in car software kills people in crash. Fire in car causes all doors to lock.
That seems like a bit of a safty hazard tbh

i’m not even a 911 operator, but i do work in a call center and one of our phone numbers is close to the non emergency police number for the area.
so i get a call from this old lady and she’s calling to tell us that there’s a strange teenage girl in her bathroom. she doesn’t know how the girl got there, but she believed her husband was playing a prank on her. after 2-3 minutes of trying to convince her that she had the wrong number and that she should call 911 instead of the non emergency line, she checks the bathroom again, and says “oh my. there’s TWO of them.” From there, she just decides that her husband is definitely playing a prank on her, closes the door, and tells me “well. thanks anyway. i think i’ll just ask him about the girls in the morning.” and hangs up.
it was the creepiest phone call i’ve ever had and i still get weirded out just remembering it.
there’s no way that lady was joking. she was either senile and her house was being broken into by 2 teenage girls, or her husband kidnapped 2 teenage girls and hid them in the bathroom.

I've been lucky enough to not have any super serious ones, but have had a couple of very memorable ones.
My favorite one was this:
For context, our county was preparing to do a massive active-shooter drill as general preparedness should SHTF. Town population of about 1200, with another 400 or so scattered around the county. Very small place, so this event was HUGE for us.
Law Enforcement was coming from all over the state to participate in this, all the EMS we could spare, all the Fire we could spare, and we set up the High School for the drill.
State Troopers flagged a bright orange Corvette doing 170+ on the about 30 miles away on the Interstate, and it would have passed by us never even entering our county, so we weren't paying much attention to it over the scanner.
The Corvette driver tries to hide by leaving the Interstate and using our area's old highway system, which led him right into our county where officers from *all over the state* were gathering for our event. Bad luck on his part, to say the least. 20 minutes later it ended with him ditching the car in the middle of a dirt road and hiding in a cornfield, and a very prompt arrest. Drill commenced as scheduled and went off without a hitch.
These have me laughing so hard for most of them. When the OP specified the potatoes were the brown ones. I started laughing because I thought, “If they weren’t brown before he shoved them up his butt, they are CERTAINLY brown now!”
Ofc course the chicken in the car one was in florida 😅
Protip: You didn't fall on it. Someone now owes you money, but you don't think it'll be enough to cover the medical bills.
I've also thought about emu farming. Can't get me to raise cassowaries though.

Okay. Seeing a hippo would be a big fricking pig if viewed the right way and you don't know what a hippo would be. When I lived north of town there was a farm with another six foot tall chickens in the yard. They were ostriches there instead of emus so I can see why the dad thought he hit a six foot chicken because not everyone knows what emus and ostriches are like not everyone knows what a hippo is
12:40: I live near an animal shelter-ish place in upstate NY that has emus, so I don't even realize most of the time that it's very much not normal for an American to see emus pretty much every day. What is my life 😭

"I was washing my potatoes in the shower" Why do people always use the shower? Like it's the one place people think it makes sense to have something accidentally go up your ass. And said people also have a lot of weird shit in their shower.
Okay but the dead thing happened to 12yr old me. I didn't know garter snakes liked to sun on the road, I was 😭 dead snek I don't want it squished. I gently picked it up with a stick. Snek woke up! Mixed happy it's not dead mixed eeeee!
