As someone who had two awful parents, it's better to not have any than know that they don't care or worse. At least the first girl had a loving dad. I hope they have the amazing lives they deserve.

I agree. Better to have a parent who loved you and died than one you has contempt for you and is still alive and in your face everyday. I had a father who regretted being a parent. He was miserable so everyone had to be as well especially my faithful mother. Assad as it is to lose a parent I realized no father was better than a father who willingly tries to make you as miserable as he is.

I had the opposite experience. I turned 17, step father kicked me out when he found my mother wasn't going to be getting any more child support checks, then he loaded up my entire family and moved them 3 states over without giving me their new address or phone number. Plot twist: three-ish years later step dad drops dead from too many years using meth and my mom comes crawling back to me looking for someone to support her and my step siblings.

Well I'd say the trash took itself out. Sucks it happened that way though.

      Mine was way less dramatic.
Dad said school or work and rent.
I graduated and quit my job because it hospitalized me.
He didn't even give me time to set up Unemployment.
Kicked me out after literally asking me to swing on him in our kitchen at 17.
My mom is tiny bless her heart she was the only reason I didn't kill him. Throwing herself basically onto me like a Kowala.
I didn't come back for three years. At which point dad and mom had split, dad was now a major pot head and taking multiple meds for BPD ADHD nerve meds and other things.
He's a totally different human today.
      For the better mostly.
Still crazy though, just in a dumb way instead of hostility.

Anyone who says the people who were there for the kids were not the “real” parents or grandparents clearly doesn’t understand how REAL families actually work.

Not gonna lie, that OP calling the deadbeat REAL GRANDPA REALLY ticked me off.

First story sounds similar to a friend of mine, he ended up getting full custody of his daughter because the mother wanted a son and specifically didn't want a daughter. She refused to even try to bond with their child until she eventually didn't pick her up one day. He petitioned to gain full custody due to abandonment, she turned up and literally said, "yeah, whatever, if he wants the little c*** he can have her", he got custody, she got contempt of court.

With the first story, THIS IS WHY YOU DON'T FORCE SOMEONE TO HAVE A KID THEY DON'T WANT.

This. I can't believe no one seemed to have picked up on that. This woman knew what she wanted, and the man decided his wants were kore important. Than, when she leaves, he acts like he has a right yo feel a kind of way.
No dude, this situation is 100% your fault

It takes two adults to do this. It was her choice just as much as it was his. I'm very confused. The only thing she should have done was tell him immediately that she didn't want to stay and should have left before faking it for 4 months.
It doesn't sound like she's paying child support either, since he doesn't mention it. Though I'll give her the benefit of the doubt and assume she is held to the same standard any man would be. I hope that the money at least helps.

@@blaze1514 a man's only role in the baby making process is busting a nut, so no, a man does not get as much of a say. He shouldn't get any say.
She toughed it out for four months likely because she felt she was obligated and thought she might eventually gain a motherly instinct but she didn't. It was her choice not to abort, but she obviously regretted her choice not to.
At any rate, my comment still stands: do not fucking force someone to have kids they don't fucking want.

Yes, but for good reason! Her family she grew up with when her parents died (with the exception of 4 relatives) are evil! Very evil! Almost killed her on a couple of occasions! She left them as did the other 4. One of the good 4 is actually her grandfather who did all he could try to protect her, but he was unable due to health issues and age. He disowned and disinherited all of the bad relatives in his will and even had his burial plot moved. The rest of the bad relatives showed up to the funeral uninvited. It was a nightmare trying to kick them out even with police intervention. At least they can’t get out of state until 2031.😂😂😂😂😂😂

My father abandoned my sister and I. As well as being wanted by the authorities, he attempted to kidnap us (I was 4), and then escaped to New Mexico with his mistress and her 3 kids. Saw him again when I was 14. Attempted a relationship. Tried again. Gave up when he insisted my adopted dad should not walk me down the aisle. He died and left his 3rd wife penniless. My uncle asked for money to help bury him. Never directly asked me, so I did not give anything.

Sadly, if the mother who wanted to travel and see the world ever want her daughter back, she has a better chance than the father who never abandon his daughter. Sadly, this is how the world is.
