I started crafting when I came across to SVGCuts years ago and Mary would use Scotch Quick Drying Tacky Glue. I love this glue... I only use that and hot glue for my projects. Thanks you so much for all the tips!
Why wouldn't you just change the perforated line style to solid and change the color, instead of removing the existing perforated lines and adding new ones? That is what I would have done, so I don't have to worry about the line placement. Just curious.
At first he use a tape runner and then I put Nuvo glue on top of it. The tape runner gives it the initial stick then I hold it literally for seconds and the glue adheres.
I like to score first and then cut. I have had some issues with the embossing tool getting stuck and skipping over cut lines - made a mess! Might have been a fluke, but I score first anyway, just to be safe.
I've just recently been playing with cutting and scoring, but using the blade and I can't wait to get my hands on the embossing tools! I also wasn't sure about cutting first, but I found certainly on cut by layer, you can drag the tool passes around, to change the order of operation, and it was much better with the score first.
When changing the perforated line to a solid line, I just use the line style tool at the top. This way I avoid making the solid line in the wrong place.
The Posh Paper Lady on TH-cam got me hooked on Reptile glue. It’s awesome! I definitely need the embossing tool. I’ve been replacing the dashed lines with solid lines and then using the auto blade set on the very lightest pressure & depth. However, it does still cut the top layer of card stock, and that bugs me when the inside of the card stock is white.
After trying several other popular brands including Tombow, I've found that Art Glitter Glue works really well for paper. It allows some repositioning when wet, sets quickly, residue can be easily removed without damage, easy to clean from surfaces(& hands), & has a lasting strong bond without bulk. Make sure you use the precision tip that comes with it & don't lose the pin! If you're not going to use it often, rinse out the tip & cap the bottle to prevent clogging.
I love your idea for the embossed line. I have always had problems with scored envelopes and the handling by the post office. I have the embossing tool and will give it a try today. BTW, I use Bearly Art glue for all my dimensional paper projects and cards and it holds up great.
Hello. Only thing I have a Cameo 4. So I tried straight line scoring for my paper purses... Epic fail. Tried multiple setting and the blade cut through. Any recommendations or suggestions. I don't like the perforated look either. Thank you. Love your videos. Just recently started following you. 👍🏾
I am so ridiculously frustrated that the Cameo 4 was just left out of the product offerings for some kind of blunt score / emboss tool. I came from the Cricut world so I am still trying to make sense of all of the different machines and adapters for the Silhouette and mistakenly bought these for my Cameo 4. I’m planning to either use a 3D printed adapter for my Cricut scoring stylus, an engraving tip for a cb09 housing (that I may have to sand the tip down on), or maybe the empty ballpoint pen trick.
@@junello8354 I came from cricut as well, and the scoring stylus was the only thing I really missed. I had tried putting the cricut stylus in the Silhouette pen adapter, but it didn't set right enough in there to apply pressure.
@@silhouettesuccess ah shoot, am about to try the pen adapter next personally, will see how it goes for me. I did get the engraving tip for the cb09 but I also bought the rotary blade and am probably over hopeful that I can dull it down enough to make it a scoring wheel.
I am really glad Silhouette came out with an embossing tool. That was one of the things I hated about the machine, not being able to embossing fold lines. I use either Art Glitter glue or Bearly Art glue for fast holding, and Beacon 3in1 glue for strong holding of bases or things if you want to put heavier things in the base. Thanks for the tutorial on the embossing tool. Can this be used in the cameo 4?
I make a lot of books and the best adhesives that I use are PVA ph neutral glue and Scor-tape double sided tape from Sookwang. You can’t go wrong with them and they are also archival products which means they will not yellow your paper being that they are acid free.
Adtech adhesive runners are my personal favorite. Or some PVA glue, but you must spread that on both parts and let it get to the tacky state before putting pieces together, so it is a little fussy.
I also use Art Glitter Glue and I agree it is the Best! Also If you are making a project that will have a lot of "moving parts" I also use Scor-Tape, putting the tape down and then a thin line of the glue on top. It works great.
I have watched most of your videos now & love them. Could you give a video with Cameo 5 embossing tool not used as scoring? I'm confused if I go to the setup on right side and go to emboss or if that is for Curio only. And can I make my own designs. Thanks for any info!!
Thanks for another great video! I'd decided on Silhouette but the score feature was what swayed my decision to wait for the Cameo 5. I can't wait to get my hands on the scoring tools and will be sure to revisit your video once I've got them. With regards to glue, I recommend Bostik All Purpose for card projects... it's a little smelly, but works great and gives a little time before it fully sets. It used to be fantastic, but super smelly and they've changed it recently, so it's not as smelly, but also not as good... still better than white glue though and definitely permanent. If you can't find that, I'm told UHU All Purpose also works well, but never tried it myself.
@@morgana6264 Paula, yes I got the Cameo 5 and have been very pleased with it. I got the embossing tools too, but haven't yet sat down and had a play with them. I've got an ideal project in mind though!
@@edwardholmes91 Nice! Good to know you’re enjoying it! I’m wanting to buy the cameo 5 mainly for the scoring and debossing features, can’t wait to try it!
At 2:53 you add a line for scoring, how did you get the crosshairs? I can't seem to get those to make the line. Your crosshairs are just 'there', I have a hand and it does not draw a line.
I used the fine tip, but I think either would work for score lines. They just announced an extra fine tip at the 2024 Summit. It will be coming out soon.
Yep! You just want to delete the dashed line, replace it with a solid line in a different color. They need to be different colors so that the software will recognize the different functions in the Send Page.
This will work for some designs but not others. I think it has to do with whether or not the original design was created with Silhouette Studio, but that's just a theory.
Art Glitter Glue!!!! The BEST. And you need to get the My Sweet Petunia glue gun! And thank you for all you do for us Silhouette users.
I also use Art Glitter Glue. Its not glue with glitter in it. It's amazing!!!!

Red.Line tape is my favorite for 3D
Tombow glue is the best! been in the papercraft industry for 25 years. White bottle green lid! ❤❤
Beacon Fabri-Tac it is a permanent adhesive and it is superior! Dries fast and stays put!
I was excited to finally do an actual score with my Cameo 4, sadly discovered embossing tool isn't for Cameo 4. 😢

ATG Tape Runner Gun, Art Glitter Glue or Bearly Arts Glue!

Hi! I don't find the pen embossing tool for cameo 5 ? Can you send the link please ? Or it's a pen cut normal ? Thanks ❤
This is my favorite glue to use. It dries quickly and holds everything together really well. Tombow 62195 Mono Multi XL Liquid Glue

Have you tried E-6000? It’s pretty powerful. Are you using the embossing mat?

It does not, unfortunately.
can you help. at the top left corner of silhouette studio fill color is now the line color and the line color is now fill color. how do i change this.
do you use the embossing tool for the curio ?
You can use the embossing tool on the Curio or the Cameo 5.
Try using contact cement!
Can I use this tool with the portrait 3?
Does it work the same or even better on the curio2? would it be same paper and tool settings?

That will work with some designs, but not all. It depends on how the designer saved the file.
