    I own the most Trumans between all these brands. Just goes with my style, they are a nice blend of casual but rugged. The last is a good all around. Not too bump but not too slim.

    Of the four, I only have Truman boots. I was so impressed with the materials, build quality and everything on my first pair that I turned around and ordered a second pair as soon as I had the spare cash again.

      I have three of the four. Truman is hands down the best construction, the Oak Streets I am selling because the last just doesn’t work for me. I think the Parkhurst are an excellent boot at a fair price though. They’re also a bit dressier than the Truman’s.

    I have the Truman’s Java waxed flesh and they are really comfortable with no break in period. My redwing moc toes still hurt after a year in. I do want a pair of the GS in Badalassi tan leather though. Never really looked into PH but they have a similar look to the Truman’s, so they look great. I prefer the like the look of the Truman’s though, I just love their shape. I get complements in them all the time.

      Parkhurst has a slimmer look and pointier toe giving them a slightly dressier look than Truman’s.

    If you look at a lot of Oak Street's boot they don't seem to be able to get their welt to upper stitching right. There seems to always be exposed stitching between the upper and welt around the toe box area. It seems like the their lasting process isn't as refined as it should be. I have seen this on multiple pairs of their boots. No other manufacturer in this range seems to have this problem this consistently.

    Grant Stone Diesel just seem more versatile. It’s almost a dress boot but not quite. You can wear them to job interviews, dinner, vacations, or daily wear. I got a Diesel and a Chelsea, between them and my Red Wing work boots I’ve got all bases covered.

  • @Vultain
    @Vultain 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    First off thanks for the comparison and covering what does and doesn't have a gusseted tongue!
    Secondly Oak Street's Elston last is a modified Boondocker last used in WWII with the Navy. It is not a modified Munson! Although the effect might be similar, they increased the width through the ball of the foot twice. Should you ever revisit them you might be better off going with their Lakeshore last, it's far and away more your style and is built more akin to the 602 last from Parkhurst.
    One other recommendation is I would aim for a special edition should you pick up something else from OSB, made out of a firm veg tan like Carlo Badalassi. Horween CXL has its fans but when it is split thinner it tends to have a lot of stretch which plays havoc with sizing. CXL prefers to strech instead of mold unless your dimensions to that last are ideal. I have boots made out of CXL that have blown out. And yet have perfect volume and sizing in the exact same make and model 2400+ hours down the road out of a different leather.

    I am an Aussie, I have no nationality bias, but Truman is the winner for me.
    Out of those four brands, only two are an option for wide feet. Truman and Grant Stone. I have both brands and whilst I thoroughly enjoy my Grant Stone, now I have a few pairs of Trumans I have become hooked on the incredible leather options and variants they offer. Not to mention, the Trumans uppers are as thick and beastly as my Whites and I still pick my Trumans over Whites dollar for dollar.

      @@kosta2177 They still do MTO's and they just close the most recent (single leather option) public one only a few days ago, it was listed on their site for around a week I think? An olive green horse rump option you could choose your sole, welt or toe options on it etc.
      I am actually glad MTO's aren't their focus moving forward, keeps costs down on their main production line offerings and still gives them the option to release more MTO's if they find availability on their core lines is increasing.
      I guess they didn't want to ramp up costs and compete more directly with all the other big names already doing MTOs.

    • @kosta2177
      @kosta2177 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@awdtw I believe the main issue with MTO were returns. If people who don’t know their size yet start customizing the order, and then simply exchanging it, that is pain in the ass to sell to return the investment. That’s why some MTO were made for customers who already have a few pairs.

    I would put Truman at #1 followed by Grant Stone. I have many from both but started my boot collection years ago with Iron Rangers and Blacksmith boots. The Trumans have the same basic looks of Red Wing and have greatly improved those designs with better options, materials and construction. Truman to me is what Red Wing should have improved on to stay more competitive in this price range. Still like my Red Wing heritage boots, but they have not upped their game with the new competitors out there now. I also like my Grant Stone boots, but they are a different kind of boot compared to Truman.

      I'll stick with what's best for my hard earned money quality and comfort don't care where it's from . It's funny that people don't really think , usa number business trade is with China but yet an individual would say I buy American only lol where America don't care really about who they do biz with and don't care about there own people , it's about the money and production that's it. Grant stone is the best in its class and above , all day I'll take grant stone for my earned money.

      @noveldune4092 yeah sure.... you've no idea what we're talking about here. This is luxury industry we're discussing. 500usd+ shoes are luxury items. Do you think people would buy Swiss watches for such orenium if they were manufactured in China? Waste of my time to discuss with such newbie 🙄

    I don’t really like the look of Grant Stone, plus I don’t think I could bring myself to buy a $400 pair of boots that are made in China, even if they are good quality. That’s like paying $70k for a Kia or $2k for a made in China suit. 🤷🏼‍♂️

      I agree all day, I'm american and don't care where the product is from as long as I like it and it's great quality and price grant stone fits that bill. People makes no sense when say American only no China lol , when America number one trade partner is China, so usa do biz with China and other countries .

    Personally I think that if this hipster boot trend ends, which is inevitable, just when is the question, that Truman and Parkhurst will be hurting and I won’t be surprised to see them disappear. Grant Stone is into shoes so I think they survive and maybe thrive. Oakstreet might make it, but would be surprised to see them get bought. Origins is another maker that I dint think survives.

      Hipster boots? A lot of people grew up wearing boots, especially northern Midwest folks 😂. There’s a reason a lot of brands the brands have been around for decades - 100 plus years.
