    This standard has such a strong melody and great changes to play over! Let me know if you have any questions, comments or feedback on this lesson. Andy

    Very good Andy, really very good. A question, pls... why don't you keep the Gm penta over the A7b9? Both Em7b5 and A7b9 are Dm harm scale, isn't it? Is due to the C#?

    Why are you using Bbm over A7b9? How does it work?

    • @jazzguitarwithandy
      @jazzguitarwithandy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      A7b9= A C# E G Bb
      Bbm = Bb Db/C# F = A7b9#5 sound
      Even better is Bbm6 which gives you the G too.

      @@jazzguitarwithandy i was thinking how A7b9 relate to Bbm pentatonic. It's not in this scale

    • @jazzguitarwithandy
      @jazzguitarwithandy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I follow you now. It’s the same kind of principle though. Either using a Bbm arpeggio or Bbm pentatonic gives you an A altered sound. It’s all about how the intervals of Bbm give you outside sound over an A.
      Bbm pent over A =
      Bb=b9
      Db= maj 3rd
      Eb = b5
      F= #5
      Ab= 7

      @@jazzguitarwithandy maybe you'll do video about it? How to choose scales to play above chords, how they relate with each other. Is there some rules?

    logic is not the strength of white jazz musicians..

    • @jazzguitarwithandy
      @jazzguitarwithandy  4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      xerxes For me the logic of learning jazz is like learning a language. It takes time to absorb phrases, to start with it’s helpful to know some of the tools, but to truly speak it you have to immerse yourself in it and then learn to say your own thing with it. I’m always interested in takes in trying to teach this wonderful music. Your comment is appreciated but come on, explain yourself fully man!
