I'm 75 and I love East 17. This particular song never fails to bring the tears. I lost my 91 year old mum in 2021 whilst I was seriously ill in hospital with Covid. I missed her funeral and never got to say goodbye. I think of her when I hear this song 😢
Don't blame yourself it was our shitty government that let us down. Your mum would of understood we were in a rubbish and still are in the uk. But never vlame yourself
When I was younger, this was me and my dad’s favourite song. Round about that time, he was suffering from schizophrenia really bad and went out to cope with the pain. Me, being at oldest 6 years old, missed him immensely during this time as my only hope of seeing him was potentially on the couch on Saturdays. One night, I was in bed crying about how much I missed him when he was out and my mum heard me. She must’ve called him to come over as the next thing I heard was him playing this song over my bed as we cuddled for a bit. I still remember that, even though I’m 12 now and things are much better. He still struggles with schizophrenia, but I see him everyday

My dad took his own life when i was only 5. My dad was my world, rock and hero. This song always reminds me of much i had wished he had stayed one more day to make him realise he was so loved. To everyone out there that is struggling reach out to someone that you trust. To my dad that is now my angel in heaven that has given me the strength to carry on thank you so much for being my dad.
As I was leaving my wife in the hospice I turned back and she gave me a beautiful smile. The next time I saw her in the early hours of the morning she left me. She knew she was going when she smiled at me. It was her way of saying goodbye. At peace after all the pain.
My nan sadly passed away right infront of me when I was 11 in the bathroom. She was 57 and she just went. No one expected it. She just went just like that. This song really reminds me of her

Leaving our homes for a while to feel closer to our own....live your life, always follow your heart, do what makes you happy, dont let bad people bring you down, do things the way that you feel is right....keep smiling and your live forever..god bless
This song has literally saved my life many times and continues to do so. I imagine it is my young daughter singing to me and telling me not to go because she still needs me. The lines, 'I thought I heard you say you love me, that your love was going to be here to stay,' and especially, 'I've only just begun to know you, all I can say is won't you stay just one more day'. So, I do. I do stay just one more day.
David hang on in there my nephew committed suicide Sep 2019 the pain we all had to bear will never go away he lefed 2 children now they dont have a Dads love
This song was playing in the background whilst I was sitting beside my dear mum's bedside, sadly she passed away peacefully 22nd December 2020, three months after my dear dad passed away 17th September 2020 💔😢, you are both solely missed but never forgotten .
When this songs plays, I am transported back to happy times, memories of my wonderful mum, she & my dad always stayed with us at Christmas time. She loved this song. God bless you both ❤💙
I have to think about my mum who passed away seven years ago. I would give everything I have for just one more day with her. I suffered from depression very hard including suicidal tendencies and she would have been the person who I needed the most during that time
Christmas songs like this bring out the best of us and the worst. I lost my parents at Christmas time, and time and again the pain of Christmas is very real. Please remember that this is a moment in time when we are feeling low, eventually it will pass and as someone said to me”After the rain the sun will always shine” Be strong and only remember the good times.😀
Every year on Christmas Day this beautiful sad song makes me cry for the loss of my Grandma. If only she were the one who could have stayed one more day. ❤
Released late 1994. Millennials were born between 1981 and 1996. Some weren't even alive when it was released, and many who were would have been too young to remember it. I'm Gen X, and even I was only in my 20s when it was released!
One knows that Christmas is around the corner when this is on the radio. Happy Christmas to all, particularly those suffering any number of troubles or tragedies. May, against all indications, 2023 be better.🤞❤
Thomas, thanks so much for sending your love and best wishes to the whole world. Yeah, let's hope the next year is going to bring everyone some sort of happiness and take their troubles away.
This song is total garbage and nothing to do with Xmas and so shpuld never be played on air. East 17 stay another day should be confined to room 101 with no reprieve
My dad's cremation was the dullest cloudiest day, the moment we laid the ashes a ray of sunshine came for that moment, then went as we were done. These things happen. All the best
For a 90s boy band, they produced a Masterpiece in vinyl records. Was never a fan of this group,as i am in an older age bracket.but for this particularly song.I WILL BE STAYING ANOTHER DAY.
This song has saved my life on many occasions. From losing my mum when I was a teenager to serving 10+ years in the middle east. Truly an amazing song which is easy to relate too.
My older sister died the day this song reached the top of the charts.... I remember looking at her in the morgue holding her cold hand and whispering the chorus to her over and over again. Strange that I felt more close to her at THAT moment than I probably did for my whole life. Miss you ❤️
After reading up the story behind this song it remind me of people and those who are struggling with depression just need to hold on to people who love them like Tony's brother who took his own life, R.I.P to those who cannot be with us now. :(
I loved this song back in December 2020. The song especially reminds me of the good time i had with my brother on that Christmas day. I remember reading all the sad comments about lost loved ones. Little did i expect that my brother would die a few weeks ago and now this song continues to remind me of Christmas with him. I think he was the only one in our family to find happiness at Christmas time.
It’s just a masterpiece for me even though it’s repetitive there’s just something so captivating and mesmerising about it every time I hear it every Christmas. The melody and harmonies are so beautiful, the production is on another level
Bloody hell, I was 16 years old when this came out. So many memories of my then girlfriend. I hope she is well and prosperous in 2018. Where does the time go? Merry Christmas one and all.

As sensitive as the issue is and I mean no disrespect, the lyrics do lean towards someone's lover rather than someone's brother.

Okay
He must of had very serve cf as he only reached half of the expected life expectancy of cf in 1994
rip Simon
@thequestioner5916 it was severe, but he was also born with a collapsed lung... In those days though, early death from CF was still fairly common... Thank you
This song reminds me of my brother I lost April of this year. First Christmas without him and it's excruciatingly painful.
Condolences, my friend.
The loss of a loved one is always deeply painful.
Probably the greatest pain between heaven and earth.
I wish you peace.
Gets easier as time goes on. But won't for the first few Christmases.
This song reminds me of my lovely daughters teenage years!!! They used to sing it on the bus to school!!! Happy days!!
Leaving our homes for a while to feel closer to our own....live your life, always follow your heart, do what makes you happy, dont let bad people bring you down, do things the way that you feel is right....keep smiling and your live forever..god bless
Beautiful comment 👌✨️
This song has literally saved my life many times and continues to do so. I imagine it is my young daughter singing to me and telling me not to go because she still needs me. The lines, 'I thought I heard you say you love me, that your love was going to be here to stay,' and especially, 'I've only just begun to know you, all I can say is won't you stay just one more day'. So, I do. I do stay just one more day.
The song is actually a prayer when you think of it. Pure.
Hang on my friend she needs you so much xx
David hang on in there my nephew committed suicide Sep 2019 the pain we all had to bear will never go away he lefed 2 children now they dont have a Dads love

Stay brother! You have been blessed with a family that needs you.
Such a talented writer and group I love this song it is so powerful and emotional I love to hear it at Christmas
God bless you both ❤💙
Simply a Christmas classic. One of those ott records that simply works at that time of the year..
Absolute class track from a very underrated band , god bless you E17 ✊🏻✊🏼✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿♥️🕴
Please remember that this is a moment in time when we are feeling low, eventually it will pass and as someone said to me”After the rain the sun will always shine”
Be strong and only remember the good times.😀
Every year on Christmas Day this beautiful sad song makes me cry for the loss of my Grandma. If only she were the one who could have stayed one more day. ❤
Greetings to all Millennials, we really had a great youth and only now appreciate it 🥺
I'm not a Millenial, but this Gen X-er learned to appreciate this song. 😊
Released late 1994.
Millennials were born between 1981 and 1996. Some weren't even alive when it was released, and many who were would have been too young to remember it.
I'm Gen X, and even I was only in my 20s when it was released!
Yes mate. Love to go back.

Yeah, it's not a Milennial's song.
My late father loved this song .... When i hear this now it reminds me of him
1994 record.
Talk about 1st impressions…..Who would have thought that lads looking like this would have produced an absolute classic.
One of the most beautiful songs ever written.
One knows that Christmas is around the corner when this is on the radio. Happy Christmas to all, particularly those suffering any number of troubles or tragedies. May, against all indications, 2023 be better.🤞❤
Probably not but we can hope
Thomas, thanks so much for sending your love and best wishes to the whole world. Yeah, let's hope the next year is going to bring everyone some sort of happiness and take their troubles away.
Thanks dia, may u be blessed
This song is total garbage and nothing to do with Xmas and so shpuld never be played on air. East 17 stay another day should be confined to room 101 with no reprieve
@@PeterGiggal, I'm more of a Jacques Brel man myself, I must admit.
December 21st 2002 we switched my brother's life support machine off. When we got to the car, this was first song that came on radio
My dad's cremation was the dullest cloudiest day, the moment we laid the ashes a ray of sunshine came for that moment, then went as we were done. These things happen. All the best
isn't it just heartbreaking when that happens. sorry for ur loss
Sorry for your loss 🙏🏻
I heard if you switch them off and on again it heals them
Godbless you and your brother 🙏🙏💙
For a 90s boy band, they produced a Masterpiece in vinyl records. Was never a fan of this group,as i am in an older age bracket.but for this particularly song.I WILL BE STAYING ANOTHER DAY.
This song has saved my life on many occasions. From losing my mum when I was a teenager to serving 10+ years in the middle east. Truly an amazing song which is easy to relate too.
I’m glad! The world is a better place with you in it ❤

My older sister died the day this song reached the top of the charts....
I remember looking at her in the morgue holding her cold hand and whispering the chorus to her over and over again.
Strange that I felt more close to her at THAT moment than I probably did for my whole life.
Miss you ❤️
Awww love u loads sweetheart may she rest in peace she watching over you xxxxxxxx
😇💖
So sorry to hear this. ...i always believe God takes some people for a special reason ..she is always with you ❤
That is so sad

My favorite Christmas song. Merry Christmas to everyone after this horrible year
1994 record this 1.
My most favourite Christmas song ever to date. Brian Harvey has got amazing vocals.
Makes me feel so emotional and Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without it. Takes you back to better times!
He’s true and I love this song
brings back such happy memories of the 90’s remember exactly where i was when this song came out. simply an amazing song. ❤
Damn, sorry for your loss!
CHRISTMAS 2021 - Let's get this song back in the UK Top 10 this Christmas where it belongs! What a beautiful classic this song is.
Merry Christmas
Lets not do that in any year Christmas is a celebration of a birth not a death better playing it at easter!!!!!!! or even better not at all!
@@PeterGiggalJesus was a bit of a cunt though.

At least we had them times, kids today have no idea how wonderful they were.
my favourite song of this eara
1984 your birth year.
It’s just a masterpiece for me even though it’s repetitive there’s just something so captivating and mesmerising about it every time I hear it every Christmas. The melody and harmonies are so beautiful, the production is on another level
Masterpiece!? 😂 It's one of the worst and cheesiest pop songs ever recorded. Get your ears cleaned.
On here to show my support for Brian Harvey. Stay strong fella.
Bloody hell, I was 16 years old when this came out. So many memories of my then girlfriend. I hope she is well and prosperous in 2018.
Where does the time go? Merry Christmas one and all.
I was a teenager too. Brings back fond memories
