    I appreciate this video. I've watched a bunched since I recently injured my hamstring while running 100m sprints. My only concern is what Brain Pope addressed in the comments two years ago: "I’ve been hearing more Drs say anti inflammatories inhibit the healing process during the first week. Apparently the inflammation repairs the dead tissue" so you should avoid drugs for at least the first three days. Comments anyone?

    Thank you! I have ordered the foam roller and stretch out strap. Love how you give reasons why to do and not do something a certain way. I have subscribed and will take time to watch more of your videos. But for now, I've got to concentrate on the hamstring I just injured. I have ridden horses my entire life, but due to life's circumstances cannot be regular with my riding so consequently am not in the shape I should be; add to that I'm 68. A sudden movement caused my horse to whirl which jerked my leg and I actually heard a pop in my hamstring. I'm in the resting phase and want to heal and regain strength the right way, so am very appreciative of your help.

    I tore my hamstring playing pickleball, felt the pop, pretty painful. Back of my leg was completely dark purple. For the first time ever, I used a massager many times per day and it was magic. I was 100% healed in one month to the day. I highly recommend those stick massagers and keep that blood flow to the area. It healed it amazingly fast, even for someone closing in on 60!

      @@abedagoat3099 Not sure what a massage gun looks like. And I am not exactly sure what they are called but it looks like a immersion blender with a circular vibrating thingy on the end with different attachments. Any sort of massager will work. But, its absolute magic. For all tears, strains and things like that, I use the massager several times per day. I use it for warm up too.

    Glad to find this to work on rehabbing a strained hamstring. I slipped on wet tile floor three days ago and basically did a split; hurt like bloody hell; did RICE then alternated with heat and red light. Hamstring injuries happen to all types of athletes, from Olympic sprinters to slow-pitch softball players. Though these injuries can be very painful, they will usually heal on their own. But for an injured hamstring to return to full function, it needs special attention and a specially designed rehabilitation program.

    • @toneandtighten
      @toneandtighten  3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Couldn't agree more, Daily Dose of Medicine. While they'll often heal on their own, they don't always heal the RIGHT way. It's this poor healing and scar tissue accumulation that sets the person up for future re-injury and should be addressed early and often. Thanks for commenting!

    I’ve been hearing more Drs say anti inflammatories inhibit the healing process during the first week. Apparently the inflammation repairs the dead tissue. Nice break down of the recovery levels. I didn’t stretch my hamstring the first week, but kind of wish I did now.

      No!!!! Do not stretch your hammy for the first 1 1/2 weeks to 2 weeks after the inury

    Hi! Thanks a lot for the great video.
    I tried the first exercises yesterday and felt no pain during executing. But today my hamstring feels a little bit tight and sore. Is this a normal reaction or am I going to make it worse if I continue? Thank you! BR, Bernd.

    Good clarity for each phase. After hamstring strain (grade 1) after 1st phase and 2nd phase, what needs to be avoided - Like playing, bending, forward lunges, etc. Kindly address/ advice on this aspect too.Being a regular badminton player, will be helpful.

    I've had a pullled hamstring since Feb 2021, I teach fitness classes so I haven't been able to take any breaks, however I did stop running which is how I injured it. I'd just really like to get it taken care of, i've done some foam rolling and stretching periodically. I was planning on just following your 2 month injury protocol.

    Hmm pop my hamstring 3 days ago. Got massage that used heated oil and stone. It was perfect as I went to the gym to do upper body work. Each day pain has gone done dramatically. Looking forward to a week out to start doing lower body work using very light weights phase. I'm active doing weight lifting and mild cardio.

    So I’ve been looking for help with my hamstring. I pulled it, it felt like a cramp cracking into a ball. This happened at the beginning of the year. I’ve gone to therapy & slowly got back into rhythm. A month after that I felt good, I didn’t feel it anymore so I decided to workout again and I was extra careful. I made sure not to push myself too hard and just take things lightly. Well, that didn’t work out because I pulled it once again in that same workout, while juggling a soccer ball. So this time I decided to do things slower and without a rush and go to physical therapy, get sports massages, go to the chiropractor, stretch, ice, hamstring recovery exercises, you name it. I did it. But it’s been 7 months since then and although I’m no longer in pain, the injury is still there. It prevents me from going 100% during workouts. I’m scared of pushing myself to hard because I can always feel when it’s about to pulled. It’s always on the brink and even when I take a week off for recovery. It doesn’t seem to work. I ice my hamstring everyday. I don’t know what to do next, can you offer any advice?
