    Another great video. I don't have a lot of experience in the infosec space but the tips you list here are applicable in every career. Be willing to prove yourself, be motivated, be patient, be the dumbest guy in the room and network with others. I think all your tips could be summarized to "just add value everywhere you go and at every position along the way."

      Accounting is "safe", but it's a hard field and is not really worth the money earned unless you enjoy the work. I definitely did not enjoy the work. Thank you for the kind words!

I don't know a thing about cybersecurity, I am structuring myself with the studies and hopefully I can take the course you have un Udemy too, Like I've been watching some of your videos to have a general Idea.. I just want to say thanks because my comment doesn't look like it going to end haha .. I am glad somehow I found you!!!

    I hated my job for the last 5 years and over this period I spent so many sleepless nights trying to figure out what I wanna do that I lost count. 1 1/2 years ago I tried programming and even though that was the first thing in years I really enjoyed I knew it wasn´t 100% what I wanted. So a couple weeks passed by and I thought to myself well if I can programm something I might as well can hack something and that´s when I decided to dig into infosec and ethical hacking. I was always fascinated when I heard about hacking for my entire life I thought it was some kind of dark magic and I definitely wanted to get into this. Fast forward the last 18 months where I spent almost every minute of time that I had on my hands to learn linux, networking, scripting and system architecture and last month I finally quit my job and now I´m studying cybersecurity. I´m happier then ever before! Not only did I find my passion with hacking it also helped me to overcome depression and social anxiety. I just want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the content you provide. It would have been impossible to make so much progress in under 2 years without people like you who provide so many ressources! I whish you all the best brother! Lots of love from Germany!

    Actually im facing the opposite of your previous situation, i want to be an accountant or work in any other field because it's been more than 2 months already looking for a job, i now have more experience as a full-stack dev but the opposite is happening, it was easier to find a job for the first time than my 4th job 6 years later with a lot more experience, developer jobs should be plentiful but doesnt look like it.

    • @TCMSecurityAcademy
      @TCMSecurityAcademy  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just hang in there. Trust me you dont want to be an accountant. You're looking at 4 to 5 more years before you can work in the field, maybe 2 to 3 if you have a previous degree. Then you work insane amount of overtime for what ends up being a McDonald's salary unfortunately. It's a long grind before that field is lucrative and worth it.

    Quick question, Heath. When you relocated to the new area, and could WFH. How was your training? Did you have to come in the office to train, or did you use a WebEx/remote tools? Did your employer assign you a trainer?
    Just curious. Thanks!

    Side question, what case is that in the background? Also what CCNA did you get, Routing and Switching, Cyber Ops, Data Center, etc et

    • @TCMSecurityAcademy
      @TCMSecurityAcademy  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So, the case is: darkFlash Phantom Black ATX Mid-Tower Desktop. I was thinking about doing a review on it. It's a great looking case, but could use a few more inches on the inside. I'd recommend it if you have the patience.
      I got the R&S CCNA. Nothing fancy, unfortunately.

    Have you worked for a company as a pen tester? Or just work for yourself? Also do you think you security clearance played a role in your career path? Also how old were you when you started helpdesk? Sorry for all the questions lol

    • @TCMSecurityAcademy
      @TCMSecurityAcademy  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, I worked for a company before working for myself. Having a security clearance helped with some jobs in government and helped not at all with others. I started help desk at 26 and was a pentester at 28.

    @thecybermentor do cyber security , pentester require maths

    • @TCMSecurityAcademy
      @TCMSecurityAcademy  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      More complicated programming can. You can have an entire career in pentesting without worrying about math. Only if you want to make tools and perform research, then you'll need it IMO
