40 yrs of allegations. Where were the discerning brothers, elders, leaders, pastors during all of this time? After 40 yrs it is brought to light. If these allegations are true then surely Many, many of those in the midst were willfully blinded and also responsible. Repentance and apology to the Body of Christ is due from many, not Bickle alone. God is sifting the foundation of this ministry to its core. Let it be.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. I spent my entire 20s at IHOPKC; was full time on staff, and led in internships & this has been hard to navigate, deeply painful, and sobering. Hearing from you all has been such a healing balm to me. Thank you for being the men you've always showed us you were and standing with the survivors. Praying for you all as you navigate, grieve, and process this alongside us.

Satan plans to let God's church fight by itself. Satan's Tactics: "How to Destroy a Growing Church. " Rebecca Brown through her book "He has set the captives free. " exposed them all. How they sent their members to join God's churches and destroy of course is their plan. As a believer of Jesus Christ, It's so sad to see God's people fight God's people. Satanic churches must be supper happy now.

I appreciate this. And need you to know, there should be women's voices in this discussion. My entire life I've been a Christian. I love Jesus. The number of sermons I've listened to about women submitting is uncountable. I've heard ONE about men laying down their lives for their wives. The Body of Christ CANNOT train all of our women to be submissive, and not defend and protect them. Either arm girls with scripture to defend themselves and listen when they speak out, or defend them when men abuse them. Empower and respect us, or choose to defend us from predators. Women belong in this room.

There were predators there from the beginning and they called them prophets. No women abuse counselor would ever have put any of these men in authority! Tod Bentley,Bickel prophesied over, had a criminal record for raping a child and spent his teen years in a prison,Bob Jones an alcoholic sexual predator were both “restored”. Thank God it’s over and exposed! Women are inconsequential to prophets and money. Tod Bentley raised 21 million dollars online so he became their darling!

I noticed you didn't illuminate the good and changed lives and people who have converted to the faith because of IHOPKC. Hmmm, that's says some things. But never the less, we MUST keep ourselves in check also. I've yet to find a flawless church. But I'm not trying to wiggle out of our own responsibility to represent the faith at all times properly. 1st - stay away from charismatic churches and anyone who claims revelation from God beyond Scripture. We cannot add to God's Word with men's imaginations.
2nd - form Biblical churches that are under a plurality of ordained elders.
3rd - do not set leaders on pedestals. Men are never our spiritual fathers. Only God is.
4th - always note the red flags in our leaders' behavior. Most of the times in these situations the people say they missed the warning signs.

      @hilandovergaard 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

Hi Amanda! The questions you're asking will very literally take a move of God to answer, but one of the fundamentals we need to call leaders to is shepherd leadership. Years ago I read Ezekiel 34:1-10, and God convicted me of how much I had made leadership about building my ministry and myself rather than sacrificing myself for the sheep that ultimately belong to Him. He continually confronts me with that still. His call to leaders isn't necessarily to build big ministries, gain notariety, or even have a vocational ministry at all. He does, however, ALWAYS call them to feed and care for His sheep. I've been under three major episodes of ministry leadership failure, and in all of them the sheep were sacrificed to the benefit of the ministry leader. It's dangerous, harmful, and disorienting for those who experience it, but the positive impact a shepherd leader has can equally affect someone's life and relationship with Jesus for the good. I prayed for you and your husband not long after I heard about the IHOPKC situation, knowing it could have a big effect on you guys. Jesus loves you guys so much, and His cross, resurrection, and eternal inheritance for you will not be shaken by these events. Feel free to hit me up if you want to talk more, too.

I will say this: It is impossible to forever prevent evil. Sometimes, the system isn't the failure, only the people that make it.
Some would suggest we throw the baby with the bathwater (as someone has already suggested), but there will always be false prophets, there will always be deception, and there will always be backslidings.
To compromise any pattern God has left for us is to inhibit God, but still, I would add some practical advice:
      1. Prophecy should largely be public to the church as a whole (the scripture says, let two or three prophesy and let the others judge)
      2. Men should not be one on one with women or vice versa
      3. There should be mature leadership alongside any pastor that is mature enough in the Lord to be able to snuff out things like this. Ministry is not a solo effort. It is a body effort, and therefore, others should be involved at a minimum.
I would say, the failure in the previous generation is a call to the next to seek God and be serious to rid ourselves of our sinful weaknesses by the grace of God and search our hearts so he can refine us and build our character.

I was a teenager at the Summer Teen Camp at IHOPKC in 2004, and that was my first introduction to you four. I subsequently became a staff member at IHOP Atlanta a few years later in 2007/2008 and was deeply involved until about 2011. Over several years' time, I left Christianity & religion altogether, largely due to issues I noticed as a young adult during my time on staff, and how I was treated when I brought issues to light. The leadership was one of many reasons that the zealous faith I once had was utterly and entirely shattered.
Although I will never be a person of faith again, watching this and the way that you guys have handled this situation has been profoundly inspiring. Your integrity and the way you have publicly taken heat again and again for something that should've never gone this way in the first place, inspires much respect and admiration. It's heartbreaking that simply doing the right thing is cause for such deep division and pain, but I'm heartened to see that there are still people of character in the midst of such horrible circumstances. Thank you, from someone who has long considered all of Christianity to be a lost cause.

It's rampant, especially in organized religion. Jesus Christ faced those same things while on earth and was crucified by them for their jealousy. Jesus never preached religion, He preached the Kingdom of God, which is an entirely different paradigm. In the Bible it says the government is on His shoulders, not religion. We are called a holy nation, a royal priesthood, citizens of the kingdom. It's a different system. I hope you find your way back to the Jewish King, Yeshuah Hamachiach. It's another system, another King, not a religious figure.

I have experienced the look on Allen's face at 17:54. I was a minister serving under another minister in an American Baptist (ABCUSA church), and I trusted, even idolized, the senior minister. And then I started getting the sense that he was overly controlling, had too much power. When I tried to address this with him, I experienced the "mask off" situation - it was like he became a fundamentally different person, someone different than who our congregations knew, and certainly than who I thought I worked for. In that moment, I felt so confused and baffled: how couldn't I have seen this? why didn't I see the earlier signs? but I was so deceived by his charisma (and this wasn't even in a "prophetic" context, just a more normie evangelical one!) that the signs only made sense once I saw the man behind the mask. It was so deeply unsettling and it did a great deal of damage to my heart and my soul. I know that feeling - and seeing Allen experience it earnestly regarding Bickle breaks my heart.

I’ve never been a fan of IHOP. That said, I’ve become invested with this current situation because I’m a victim of spiritual and sexual abuse by a church leader…a pastor’s wife who was in my mind a spiritual mother. I can relate to your feelings here, especially with Allen Hood. It’s the absolute worst feeling in the world to wake up and realize the person who discipled you was in actuality, a wolf and predator. It’s like a continual, never ending, gut punch. What helped me was a strong support system (praise GOD for your advocacy!!), and learning about grooming. I’ve spent s lot of time researching cult leaders. It helped me to see what tactics she used with me because then I could stop being vulnerable to future abuses. And most of all, share my testimony to help others see red flags in leaders. So continue on this journey in the humility and fear of the Holy God we serve! I am praying for you all!! I’m willing to share my life experience if it would benefit anyone involved. See Cara’s Inner Healing Horror.

Paul did not apply Matthew 18 when he confronted and corrected Peter in front of the whole church. Nor did he advise Timothy to do so. Those in leadership who are sinning are to be rebuked in the presence of all. Had Paul merely taken Peter aside and corrected him, all those who had been influenced to follow Peter's bad example would not have learned the lesson. It's appropriate to confront Bickle privately first and give him the chance to repent and to then confess publicly. But when Bickle refused to allow a second person in the room, he was demonstrating his unwillingness to repent and to care more about the things of God than about his own reputation. Game over. He should never be allowed behind a microphone again except to confess without reservation, without manipulation, without blame shifting and without attempt to look good in any way, shape or form. After that, he should retreat into obscurity. He can be restored to fellowship, but never to ministry.

You are all like this. Your tithe money went to support Bickle's abuse of children. Your money. Your faith was used to support this. I have a pastor friend in St. Louis who knew Mike Bickle when he first appeared on the scene in St Louis before he became the big thing he has been to so many people since the KCF days of the prophetic boom of the 80s. He saw through him then when everyone was bowing the knee to Baal so to speak. Here’s what I’ve seen in every interview with people in the Advocate Group. The common thread is everyone says they just never believed Bickle would do this. I applaud everyone for coming forward. My deep concern for these Christians and so many more of sound mind is the lack of discernment that Bickle operates under. It is a spirit of witchcraft/divination (1 Samuel 15:23). This is what Christian celebrity is all about. While we must respect those God has placed in authority, we must keep both eyes wide open. This requires a deeper acquaintance and understanding of Scripture. If we see behavior and teaching from leaders that contradicts the plain reading of the Bible we need to confront this and if we can’t get through to that person we need to warn others and get away from this leader. Bickle and others like him are false prophets and teachers. And guess what, he was from the beginning. Most deception contains elements of biblical truth. But if we look closely it’s riddled with falsehood. I hope the exposure of Bickle will wake people up from following deception and the people that peddle it. God help us!

Red flag #1: Placing a person on such a pedestal that they are being referred to as a "spiritual father". Our only spiritual father is the Triune God. How many times have we put people into a status category they have no business being? This opens the door to those who fleece the flock physically, spiritually, financially, and sexually, all the while being insulated from accountability.

    • @ChurchWorshipandvideo

What about Paul being a spiritual father (eg I Cor 4:15)?
Yes we shouldn’t elevate people to a point where they have no accountability and have no one whom they can be humbled by. But calling someone father is t the red flag. It’s the behavior.

    • @raccafracca940

@@ChurchWorshipandvideo First off, unlike Mike Bickle, Paul was a true apostle. Unlike Mike Bickle, Paul literally saw and spoke to Jesus. Unlike Mike Bickle, Paul was prophetic, spoke and wrote with the authority of the Holy Spirit, and spread the true gospel.... unlike Mike Bickle. The Corinthians did not say this of Paul (as the AG says this of MB), but Paul says this of himself. To me this is key because Paul's intention was not to convey a position of authority, but more of one who loves and admonishes those he has brought "to life" (as it were) through the gospel. In the case of MB, the lack of accountability and discernment of the AG and ELT up until now is a result of idolatry on their part, and pride and selfishness on the part of MB. It's not a nurturing, loving, mutual relationship. It's one hierarchy, exploitation, and abuse of power.
I may have mentors and those who have play important roles in my spiritual life, but my spiritual father is my Heavenly Father.

MB did not bring them "to life" (as it were) through the gospel. He is a false teacher who has brought them to a false gospel.
      Matthew 7: 15-20
“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. You will recognize them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? So, every healthy tree bears good fruit, but the diseased tree bears bad fruit. If you don’t mean this then disregard. Nowhere in the New Testament are disgraced adulterous “Leaders” to be reinstated to Leadership!! If there is true repentance they can be restored as a Christian with the Lord but never back in Leadership! 1Tim 6 and Titus state there are STRICT QUALIFICATIONS to be a Leader! Qualifications has nothing to do with repentance otherwise qualifications wouldn’t be necessary as all they would need is to repent as any Christian does. But that’s not what it says. The Apostle Paul speaking from his Apostolic Leadership even warned he could be Disqualified!! Paul didn’t say all he needed to do was repent and then he’s an Apostle again!! No! Once disqualified for Leadership it’s permanent!

I have had to ask myself if people of prayer cannot get this right what does that mean... Prayer movements or strong apologetics (Ravi Zacharias) or evangelical impacts (Bill Hybels) without healthy accountability and biblical church and leadership discipline have brought us to this point. We do need revival and if it does not look like one that brings us to knees and faces hitting the floor in confession of sin and true repentance in a fear of the LORD then we must question it. Why do we never see charismatic leaders reject that which came from the ones who are exposed as predators? As someone who was a member of a church that was heavily influenced by IHOP via Bob Sorge and his oversight, I am concerned for the lack of Gospel teaching with calls for repentance and salvation, but instead a hyper focus on prophetic utterances, strange and elitist eschatology and extreme emotionalism. The elitist unbiblical authority structure of apostles and prophets is the foundation of what Bickle and others have done. Please address these issues and get back to Sola Scriptura if you really want to minister to the Body of Christ. Untold numbers, including myself, have been abused by prophetic words and leaders being above accountability. It doesn't have to be sexual abuse for it to be incredibly destructive.

Getting the authorities involved would require that the real Jane Does would have to make official criminal charges against Mike. That would destroy their anonymity which they are hiding behind, a sin against God by it itself.

I'm having trouble understanding how so many men of God missed this for SO many years. How do I know my "spiritual father" is not easily deceived? It's almost as if he worshipped Bickle and blinded him to see or have discernment about this man. When he visited our church many times I was never comfortable with his teaching or in his presence. I won't leave my savior over the failure of men but we want to trust our shepherd's leadership and ability to discern. This is how cults operate; following the leader blindly. I am careful not to put my pastors on any pedestal but I do respect them. This sounds familiar to Ravi Zacharias story whose teaching I did value... That shocked me
    Praying for all concerned

Thank you, Jono, Allen, Wes and Dwayne for taking the time to allow us to see your faces and hear your voices. It’s so helpful for someone like who was there at IHOP and then part of a small HOP for a total of a decade’s time. I know this has been a horrendous time and fully believe none of you wanted to have to write letters, make statements or do this video. I appreciate your acknowledgment of your own needs to repent as the light continues to shine and expose. I grateful there is still hope for restoration with your brothers. I needed to hear that too.

    1. What prompted your sister to want to call you now regarding what she experienced?
    2. Why did they allow Mike Bickle's sister preach so quickly? That came across as spiritual abuse
    3. Why did Jane Doe and husband think to reach out to you versus others?
    4. What did Jane Doe and her husband want done in response to what they experienced? Did they have a response goal in mind?

I’m so grateful to hear from this group, so - thank you.
I’m simultaneously grieved over what seems to be a systemic issue at IHOPKC of not dealing appropriately with manipulation and abuse (even hinted at here, with the refusal/difficulty at first to believe just one survivor). I’m sure we’ll hear more in the coming months and I pray that true 180-degree change (repentance) takes place in this ministry and its practices.

While there needs to be more accountability in the charismatic world, it is not unique to charismatic people. The Catholic Church comes to mind along with Baptists, Lutherans et al. It’s a problem of the human condition, no human is above our fallen nature except Jesus Christ himself. I think we all need to remember, but for the grace of God that could be any one of us…the heart is deceptively wicked above all else, who can know it.

In scanning the comments, I saw one that asked the same question I have...how did so many people who "operate in the prophetic" miss this? These leaders no doubt were praying for their colleagues and leaders but this was not revealed to them? or they were unable to listen. How do we avoid these missteps in our walk with Jesus. These are supposedly big deals in ministry and like the Jews looking at Jesus, they missed it.

It’s the lack of understanding of how abusers behave. The church is the perfect set up for an abuser. Their public image is their safe guard. It’s what helps them and helps the victims not being believed. We need to change the narrative that this doesn’t happen in the church and in the ministry.
It’s very traumatic for the victims in the church. Church is your life, community. And not being believed it cuts really deep in the victims souls. For people of your own church to rally around your abuser is so hurtful and traumatizing for the soul.
Sadly there are thousands and thousands and thousands of victims who aren’t believed. That leaders dare to stand up like this….. truly truly does not happen. You really set a new standard. Of doing what is right even if it means you stand alone.
That people are defending him with their lives….. that’s why the church is the perfect place for abusers. They can pick enablers around them. They pick very specific people who will stay loyal at any cost. That’s why they are picked. And it helps the abuser, they create the narrative for him while he plays the victim.
