I’m not sure what’s more impressive .. the line test or managing to convince your good wife to write a book so you can use it to perform your line test 🤣🤣🤣!!! Brilliant brilliant fact that you brought to light . Thank you 👍🏻
Great info. I lean toward fluoro more than braid for everything, and I think you gave me the answer as to why. Always felt like could feel more on fluoro. Great stuff.
This video is 3 years old at this point but after watching I feel that I need to chime in for whatever my experience is worth to anyone reading these comments. I fish 20 to 30 pound braid to 14 to 20 pound florocarbon leader of 12'ish foot long on all my bottom contact bait rods.... jigs, worms, shakey heads, wobble heads, ect... I had myself questioned where or not I could feel a bite on a totally slack line sooooo KNOWING that there were bass in an area and KNOWING what they were biting at the time I decided to test it (years before ever seeing this video) and the answer is yes... yes I could. With my line laying totally slack on top of the water there was a vary distinctive tick. I have done this several times and where as I may not feel them all (I wouldn't know I missed it if I missed it) I have most definitely been able to feel bites on totally slack line with braid to leader.
Fluoro makes a great leader. I just don't want it wound around my spool developing memory and getting ready to fly out like a Slinky when I try to cast. My favorite setup is braid tied to a fluorocarbon leader about the length of my rod blank or just a bit more. For slack line, seeing your line is more important than feeling it. So this year I'll be trying Fireline Tracer and a hi-vis braid as my main lines.
I ordered this to net the algae in a large pond in our backyard. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxphFK7ETiDP5G4IGsNcg7vbASDp_YfDpI The net is very sturdy and easy to maneuver in the water. The angled edges make it easier to get into the smaller spaces among the rocks. I didn't realize that the front of the net doesn't actually have a frame to it, just the sides do, but it seems to work just fine. The handle extends to various sizes, which is a great feature when I'm in areas that are tight with shrubs at the edges of the pond. I can collapse the handle so it doesn't get stuck in the bushes.
Thank you for the information. I just started to look into different lines and just made the recent switch to braid from mono. Now I’ll be making that switch from braid to fluoro. I do love the braided violin though haha. Tight lines!
This is something I've been telling people for a long time, especially as it relates to worm fishing and dropping a bait on semi-slack line. Another misconception about line is that fluorocarbon is more sensitive than mono because it has less stretch. The reason braid is more sensitive than both fluorocarbon or mono IS because of less stretch, the reason fluorocarbon is more sensitive (not to the same degree braid is over the other line types) is because it is denser. That's why it sinks and the others don't. Many fluorocarbons have as much or in some cases more stretch than mono. As a general rule lines that are limper and more manageable have more stretch. The moral of all of this is you have to balance your tackle (rods, lines, hooks, hooksets, and drag settings) to; detect a bite, set the hook, and land fish efficiently.
Very informative. That's why I love your channel David, you make us think outside the box. That's where I like to be. I continue to see the time and thought you put into your game and it shows with your success. Thanks 513
For me Bass fishing is a constant search for knowledge. It’s an always evolving sport of technique and technology. It comes down to the angler how these are applied to the area of concentration of game fish. It’s also a geographical hunt on land and now a days Google Earth. Love it and thanks for the vids my man!
I basically only use braid only with top water . But, I use braid with 3-5ft flouro leader ( sometimes but rarely with mono) when I use braid for other presentations other than topwater. And usually all flouro ( again sometimes mono) on spinning reels . It I've even gone to 10lb to 12 lb braid with a leader . And have had plenty sensitivity that way. But! GREAT VIDEO SIR! THANK YOU
Great video keep them coming, I'm just now learning how to use a baitcaster I've fished with a spinning reel most of my life but my point is I'm still learning every time I get out on the water to improve my fishing and your video was very great on which to use especially on my baitcasters. Thanks for this video. Tight lines always
The advantage of braid isn’t just about sensitivity, to me more about greater line capacity, casting distance, abrasion resistance, and floating ability in many scenarios. When fishing any type of covers I’d never use straight fluorocarbon cuz they’re so easy to snap. I’d rather miss a fish than losing 50 yards of fluorocarbon line. Also, when talking about slack line sensitivity, it depends on how much slack there is, scientifically/physically speaking I think any line will lose sensitivity 100% if there’s enough slack. So the sensitivity advantage of fluorocarbon on a slack line is only present when the slack is minimal, and it’s probably only sensible with a $500+ rod, which is out of the budge for most. Here in Michigan when fishing sub 50 degrees which is very common, half an hour into fishing your hands are cold and numb af, and a $1000 rod will feel the same as something from Walmart...
I use a 9 foot leader of fluorocarbon to braid with double uni knot. Been doing that way for a long time and I feel I get more bites but may be all in my head. Great information loved it👍👍
Good stuff! Dion Hibdon made this point some years ago. I view it this way: braid is digital (only ON or OFF) and fluorocarbon is analog (signal is anywhere between zero and maximum value). That is due to line memory of the single strand (fluorocarbon is a monofilament, as is nylon line) as compared to multi-stranded, braided line.
This was a GREAT video. I cant believe I've never thaught of this. I will be using BOTH now as well. I think I'll have a fluro jigging pole and a braided swimming pole. Best braid vs fluro video I've seen on yt.
Thank you for a very interesting and informative video. As mentioned in other comments... I too would be very interested to see (and/or hear about) an "updated" version when you try the experiment with a braid to fluorocarbon leader.
Another thing that might have a hand in flouro being more sensitive than braid is maybe because flouro is 1 strand and braid is several strands of line.?... Braid is also more limp and likely heavier and more dense. Great video and info! 👌💥
To me it's plain and tightline fishing I'm going to use braid examples where I use braid over mono is fishing a frog on top of lily pads sensitivity doesn't matter what horse in a fish out of the cover does flipping mono and fluorocarbon in heavy cover just don't you can get fish out of places you never could with either the previous if I'm pitching lay down trees I'm going to use monofilament probably 20 or 30 lb test I don't care for the price for the manageability a fluorocarbon and I can change my line 40 or 50 feet everyday
The shock to the line transmitts thru air. But does a shock transmit through water. Put the line going into the water and looping out of it. I am thinking water may dampen that vibration much quicker than air.
Very cool! For years I’ve used braid for swimbaits and top water and I primarily use floro for flipping, but that was just something that seemed to feel better for me. Now I know why.
I am an Engineer and with two lines that are relatively low on stretch, whichever line is larger in diameter is going to transfer more energy down the line due to air or water resistance. Kind of like swinging a pvc tube through the air vs a wire. This phenomenon occurs on a slack line. If the line is hanging slack into the water and a bass bites, the thicker line is going to be harder to move through the water to straighten the line, so a slight movement will transfer up the line faster than a thinner line. If the lines are straight, whichever line has less stretch will be more sensitive.
I like the info. 95% of the time I'm using a tube or a grub. Dragging it on the bottom, popping it a little. On my pauses I leave slack and watch the line, so I suppose if you're watching the line it doesn't matter. Based off my experiences. Honestly I'm no expert. Not even close. I've only used flurocarbon a couple times. I guess the point of the video though is feeling the bite rather than seeing it. I'm definitely gonna be using flurocarbon more this next summer to see if I can feel the difference. Thank you for the video!
So what about Braid to Florocarbon Leader? Mono Leader? That would be an interesting test to see... Thanks for sharing & shedding new light on an old subject.
I have used Braid to flouro combo on spinning gear for 10 plus years and this applies. On a slack line you don't feel bites as well. However the money you save by spooling up once every couple of years with braid and then using a leader (changing size of line depending on fishing conditions) is worth it to me and my wallet.
I think the test should be done the other way around, your test is line from air to water but the fish bites from water and u hold the line in air, lots of things to be consider if you do it the other way around does the braid cuts in water better than floro and if does that motion from the bite from the fish mouth to your hand will be travel faster in braid than floro in theory ur line will never be slack in water not unless its floating and no weight on other side on the air side is only from the tip of ur rod to the water does it makes difference ? and by how much? the test should have been done the other way around in my opinion.
I use the same for flipping. The flouro leader for abrasion resistance and low visibility near the bait. The braid for it's low stretch and high visibility. I don't feel for bites, but rather watch my line.
*Have used the braided line for several years **enjoyable.fishing** recommend both for salmon in the summer as well as walleye through the ice. Can’t beat it for the price!*
DD i wanna thank you for each and every video you have put out. I know i say it pretty often on your other vids but i truly do appreciate the education/tip to improve the average anglers fishing knowledge! Tight lines DD! It’d be nice to see some more fishing vids with techniques/tips.
Dale is one of the wisest fishermen I’ve gotten to fish with. Fishing with him using the same bait I’ll catch 2 to his 4 on the Allegheny haha. Glad I’ve gotten to spend time in the shop and gotten to learn about line it’s helped me as a fishermen since I switched to Gama and fished with dale.
That is a true conclusion David. Flouro. is MUCH more sensitive on a slack line (ie. pitching/flipping) for detecting bites on the fall. The best way to convince your self is take 2 identical rods, rigged the same except the line type and prove it to yourself on the water in real situations. It is noticeable! It also is a factor on how supple the flouro. brand/type is. Again, more supple flouro. may handle and cast better but for the best bite detection on a slack line the stiffer stuff is better. For different reasons, I use mostly braid (usually 65 lb.) for these presentations though. I fish in Minnesota and mostly on very weedy, natural lakes. There are a lot of Pike and Muskies in them and I both don't want to lose a lot of tackle to them and also have a way better chance to land them as well without getting bit off. Minnesota bass are generally pretty dumb too and usually not line shy, from my experience.
I have to fish floro or mono in the clear mountain waters in SC where I live. Every time I use braid I get absolutely 0 bites. I am a firm believer that they can see that braid and wont touch anything attached to it.
Hi Sir I've got new Penn VI 6500 Live Liner Fishing Reel & I was thinking of should I put braid line on or mono nylon on the reel &.I looked on other Utube sites & People using Fluorocarbon line &.when I saw your video & that was really amazing seeing Flurocarbon on slack line it still picked up vibrations in the water that is really impressive & I going to stick with Flurocarbon & my other older Penn 760 Live Liner Reel & the Live Liner 2 settings one is the lever Live Liner drag & two is the rear knob drag adjustment less or more drag & in the past years I caught a 19 1/2 pound Snapper on this Penn Rod & 760 Live Liner Fishing Reel Combo & that fish really put up a good fight to & I didn't have my main drag to higher drag as if this could run off again the fish could take out line & just some line out & the rod was bent right over to & the line on this Penn 760 Live Liner Reel is 25 lb. main line Mono Nyl on & 50 lb mono Leader & later on when I got the 50 lb leader on the reel knew that I had the big Snapper & when I got the big fish to the surface my son Regan got the net & brought it into the boat & even Regan couldn't get over the size of this 19 1/2 pound Snapper & it was huge & took Regan to bring it into the boat & yet when I was Fighting this big Snapper my son kept saying to me bring it in bring it in & I said to him I'm trying I'm trying to bring it in & my arms were getting tired to & this Penn 760 Live Liner Reel has only 20lb drag & yet I was still able to catch this big Snapper & I didn't have the full drag on this Penn 760 Live Liner Reel & I not long serviced this Penn 760 Live Liner Reel & I took the side plate off the reel & it is still like new in side & I just a little more grease into the gears as still had grease inside the reel & I didn't even strip down the spool of the reel & still works well to & has a fantastic seal on the front Drag Knob & this Rod & Reel Combo is around 9 + years old & has a very little corrosion at the bottom of the reel & all that I have to do is get some sandpaper & a little bit of sanding down & wipe it down with a clean rag & masking tape & mask up it up where I don't want the paint to go & put primer on first & get the right gloss black paint & put on 2 coats on with a spray can with Rust proof black paint & my new Penn Vi 6500 Live Liner Reel has 30 lb drag &.4 Lever Live Liner settings & fully sealed reel & has the very best SAFETY FEATURE ON THIS PENN VI LIVE LINER FISHING REEL & AS THE SAME SAFETY FEATURE ON THE BIG PENN VI 8500 LIVE LINER REELS & YOU FLICK OPEN THE BAIL ARM OVER TO OPEN POSITION & IT DOESN'T MATTER HOW MANY TIMES YOU TURN THE HANDLE ON THE REEL THE BAIL WILL NOT SLAM OVER TO CLOSED POSITION AS YOU MANUALLY FLICK IT BACK OVER WITH YOUR FINGER OR FINGERS & I DO LIKE THE PENN 8500 LIVE LINER REEL AS IT IS A LOT BIGGER REEL & HAS 40 LB DRAG & ALSO HAS 4 LEVER LIVE LINER SETTINGS & FULL SEALED FROM SALT WATER TO & THE ONLY THING WRONG WITH THESE 2 REELS I WISH IT HAD THE EXTRA LONG SPOOLS ON THESE PENN REELS & MY SON REGAN HAS THE PENN IV 8500 LIVE LINER REEL & HE IS REALLY HAPPY WITH THIS REEL. Regan has taken the braid of his reel & I'm going to tell to put FLUROCARBON LINE ON HIS REEL & HAVE A 50 LB LEADER AS WELL Kind Regards Peter PS Sir I Wish You A Happy New Year For 2023 & Hope It Is A Good 1 For 2023
You might be overthinking it. Let me explain. Fish usually bite and immediately pull in one fluid motion, most bite while sucking water into their mouths, so either way you're feeling that pull. Human reaction time to tactile information is .2 seconds, to visual information is longer, most fish strike faster than .2 seconds, except for catfish I believe. Either way you slice it, when you feel and recognize a fish biting you're already behind the power curve, so you need to catch up and regain control, a good way to do that is with a strong line that isn't going to snap, so set your clutch properly, and don't over strain your pole. Also your test only proved that monofilament and FCs are stiffer than braided line.
Thank you man it's the truth a1960 born man my father taught me how to make the most of mono and fluro and that was growing up in fort Pierce Florida so that over priced braid crap is out unless I,am in real heavy cover Lillie pad and grass don't get it for I,be pull monsters out of that type of cover with no problem
Awesome vid I always have used fluorocarbon I use 8 lb test. Me and my dad have both cought 8.5 pounders I like fluorocarbon it's the best line in my opinion.
I prefer braid for a few specific reasons, mainly thinner line for better pound test.helps to either get better casting range or cheat a few extra pounds of strength.also seems braid helps when fishing like brush piles.it seems a bit abraision resistant.and I often use mono leader on braid.sensitivity can be subjective.depends on the individual.some folks can feel more on their finger, some not so much.and some just don't know what to feel for.so I think that sensitivity can be subjective and should be taken as such, though there is valid point in having sensitivity in line and rod.just bear in mind it can be different person to person
Braid to florocarbon for me... on everything, unless I can get away with straight braid. At this point it's a confidence thing for me. I will use mono on big swimbaits for the stretch and that's it
love braid but i prefer spooling my baitcaster with fluorocarbon now mainly because even with braid and mono/fluoro leader the braid is visible to fish in the water, while straight fluroro on your entire spool is invisible and goes through line guides like butter, plus doesnt dig in to your spool on a hook up or snag
I don't think that you would feel the bite when the line is out several meters away and not under tension. The vibration through the line would die off quickly at least in my experience. But I am always fishing with tension on my braid so I don't think that it would make a big difference 90% off the time that I am fishing my self. I live in europe and I always target pike because there are just a lot of them over here. That's also something for me I will feel the fish no matter the situation because my whole jerkbait or whatever would be gone.
It’s only because the fluorocarbon is so much more stiff. And the braid is so soft. Either way on a slack line you need to be watching the line for small movements instead of hoping to feel a bite
I may purchase the book, but in your test, it seems a very important factor is not being accounted for, and that is the distance the vibration in the line will travel. Just like sound it depends on how far away you are from the source of what you are measuring. Like many things if life people jump to conclusions without knowing ALL the facts.
That’s was one of the best informations I learned about fishing being a fisherman already for 20 years lol 😂😁👍👍👍👌😎🎣🎣🎣 like you said Brother DD, we will never stop learning, some information is just a little more valuable then others so thank you 🙏👍👍👌. Happy holidays and man I have to get me some of your Merchandise 😁🥳🎣🎣🎣. I have the same initials 😁😎😂🎣🎣🎣🎣🎣👍👍👍👍👍
Interesting vid! I fish with both types of lines. Braid seems to hook up faster for me if they whop it as soon as the bait hits the water though. I'm about too blind to see any vibration in the line anymore when slack..haha
Okay i see what your saying here but the best part of braid and the hi-vis braids you can line watch and look at that fly line color braid and see every movement or jump in the line when you get a bite
Kudos to David for constant experimentation, but there are a slew of variables not accounted for in this expirement. I wouldn't take too much from this.
Question guys! I see a lot of people using roughly 60/40 braid to fluorocarbon.. I understand using a leader but what’s the point of just having all that braid under if you’ll never see it?
but you can't line watch Fluorocarbon because it sinks so fast. if your boat moves it wraps around submerged vegetation. the number one difference is, line belly up, or line belly down. Do you want your lure and line to drag along the bottom, or hop along the bottom.
For you guys talking about Fluoro leaders, I will say this...get a specific "shock" leader, if you want to use flouro...I use mono almost exclusively because it absorbs the shock of the hook set better than fluorocarbon.... Just my 2 cents.
Interesting!! When jigging areas where theres not a ton of snags, I use fluoro for the invisibility. I do notice that it feels more sensitive (than braid) and I get a lot of fish on the fall. Whereas braid.. Not really. I'm actually feeling them with fluoro!
Man im glad you made this video. Thibking back ive caught so many fish flipping matts when i feel nothing or after its hit the bottom but rarely feel that bite as opposed to flouro where ive caught so many flipping on that initial drop and i can feel the bite on slack while its dropping. Totally males sense. I wonder if having a flouro leader would make it better, but since braid is so limp it would provably absorb it before it gets to the rod......
I believe the rule of thumb, no pun intended, depends upon the cover they're relating to in a given situation. In heavy matts & vegetation, you need strength and relative small diameter to cut through during the hookset & battle. I have more confidence in 50/10 braid to cut through, than I do with 65/16 lb test/relative diameter. However if I'm targeting flooded timber/blowdowns, I'd then favor higher strength braid as smaller diameter can backfire. Personally if they holding near rock, I'll favor mono/fluoro for abrasion resistance, but I'll not shy away from braid if they're not holding tight. So, post front & early spring I'm not using much braid. The bottom line is use what you have the most confidence in.
All braid is not made the same.. Thats why I use Berkley NanoFil. Fused particles rather than strands of fiber. Still sensitive on slack line but still has all the advantages of legacy braids. 4# test NanoFil is 4# diameter but actually 10# breaking strength. Amazing stuff!
That puts a totally new teist on how to perceive sensitivity with line types. Awesome info !!

It's called line watching.
I already knew this by using my friends rod one time, I love braid but I will always jig with fluorocarbon line. Nice to hear someone else say it.
Uncle Dave will always give us somthing to think about.
My frog rod . Braid
Punch rod. Braid
Top water Braid
Spinnerbait mono
The rest flouro.
Exactly how I rig my rods!
same for me...I love 15# BG for my spinnerbait fishin. Otherwise braid !
Would love to see a comparison on mono vs fluoro vs copolymer vs mono with a measuring devices of sorts
Based of off my measuring device (my eyes) there is not much of an advantage of using fluorocarbon unless you are using heavy line 20+lb as a leader.
Very informative. That's why I love your channel David, you make us think outside the box. That's where I like to be. I continue to see the time and thought you put into your game and it shows with your success. Thanks

Fluoro on a spinning reel is a nightmare. You have my respect if you can get that to work! 🤞

Wow! Thanks for sharing Mr. Dudley
Good illustration David now it's got me thinking, thanks for sharing with us
That’s really good information. I’m going fishing tomorrow and I’ll try the rest of fluorocarbon and braid.
Recently, I have tried pitchn' with braid with flouro leader. I was pleased!
Saw you at the columbus fishing expo today and had to come watch this video
Makes sense, and will try it. But, I seem to get more backlashes when I use florocarbon.
Very cool! For years I’ve used braid for swimbaits and top water and I primarily use floro for flipping, but that was just something that seemed to feel better for me. Now I know why.
This guy is the real life Kenny Powers of fishing and I love it!

I have used Braid to flouro combo on spinning gear for 10 plus years and this applies. On a slack line you don't feel bites as well. However the money you save by spooling up once every couple of years with braid and then using a leader (changing size of line depending on fishing conditions) is worth it to me and my wallet.
@@seanodell5133 Thank you for the Tips...
How does floracarbon react as a leader on braid thanks tom
I will try
My thoughts too. I use a lot of braid to Fluoro leader because I feel like it keeps the line somewhat invisible and gives me immediate hook setting.
Works wonders. Use it all the time. On spinning gear
I use the same for flipping. The flouro leader for abrasion resistance and low visibility near the bait. The braid for it's low stretch and high visibility. I don't feel for bites, but rather watch my line.
Mind blown 🤯! This will definitely change my fishing. Great video!
Thanks for sharing your knowledge! Keep up the awesome videos
Awesome Video man! Thanks for dropping the knowledge. Makes me rethink most of my rigs and what line I have on them.
*Have used the braided line for several years **enjoyable.fishing** recommend both for salmon in the summer as well as walleye through the ice. Can’t beat it for the price!*
Thanks for all your videos. Lots of great info.
DD i wanna thank you for each and every video you have put out. I know i say it pretty often on your other vids but i truly do appreciate the education/tip to improve the average anglers fishing knowledge!
Tight lines DD!
It’d be nice to see some more fishing vids with techniques/tips.
Filming a fishing video today
Awesome cant wait!
He sure is with a very kind heart
You should do this experiment again but with a line that has braid tied to a floro leader
I have to fish floro or mono in the clear mountain waters in SC where I live. Every time I use braid I get absolutely 0 bites. I am a firm believer that they can see that braid and wont touch anything attached to it.
Wow. Nice vlog Mr Wheeler for sure.
Solid test Dudley that can be a game changer for some situations
Hi Sir I've got new Penn VI 6500 Live Liner Fishing Reel & I was thinking of should I put braid line on or mono nylon on the reel &.I looked on other Utube sites & People using Fluorocarbon line &.when I saw your video & that was really amazing seeing Flurocarbon on slack line it still picked up vibrations in the water that is really impressive & I going to stick with Flurocarbon & my other older Penn 760 Live Liner Reel & the Live Liner 2 settings one is the lever Live Liner drag & two is the rear knob drag adjustment less or more drag & in the past years I caught a 19 1/2 pound Snapper on this Penn Rod & 760 Live Liner Fishing Reel Combo & that fish really put up a good fight to & I didn't have my main drag to higher drag as if this could run off again the fish could take out line & just some line out & the rod was bent right over to & the line on this Penn 760 Live Liner Reel is 25 lb. main line Mono Nyl
on & 50 lb mono Leader & later on when I got the 50 lb leader on the reel knew that I had the big Snapper & when I got the big fish to the surface my son Regan got the net & brought it into the boat & even Regan couldn't get over the size of this 19 1/2 pound Snapper & it was huge & took Regan to bring it into the boat & yet when I was Fighting this big Snapper my son kept saying to me bring it in bring it in & I said to him I'm trying I'm trying to bring it in & my arms were getting tired to & this Penn 760 Live Liner Reel has only 20lb drag & yet I was still able to catch this big Snapper & I didn't have the full drag on this Penn 760 Live Liner Reel & I not long serviced this Penn 760 Live Liner Reel & I took the side plate off the reel & it is still like new in side & I just a little more grease into the gears as still had grease inside the reel & I didn't even strip down the spool of the reel & still works well to & has a fantastic seal on the front Drag Knob & this Rod & Reel Combo is around 9 + years old & has a very little corrosion at the bottom of the reel & all that I have to do is get some sandpaper & a little bit of sanding down & wipe it down with a clean rag & masking tape & mask up it up where I don't want the paint to go & put primer on first & get the right gloss black paint & put on 2 coats on with a spray can with Rust proof black paint & my new Penn Vi 6500 Live Liner Reel has 30 lb drag &.4 Lever Live Liner settings & fully sealed reel & has the very best SAFETY FEATURE ON THIS PENN VI LIVE LINER FISHING REEL & AS THE SAME SAFETY FEATURE ON THE BIG PENN VI 8500 LIVE LINER REELS & YOU FLICK OPEN THE BAIL ARM OVER TO OPEN POSITION & IT DOESN'T MATTER HOW MANY TIMES YOU TURN THE HANDLE ON THE REEL THE BAIL WILL NOT SLAM OVER TO CLOSED POSITION AS YOU MANUALLY FLICK IT BACK OVER WITH YOUR FINGER OR FINGERS & I DO LIKE THE PENN 8500 LIVE LINER REEL AS IT IS A LOT BIGGER REEL & HAS 40 LB DRAG & ALSO HAS 4 LEVER LIVE LINER SETTINGS & FULL SEALED FROM SALT WATER TO & THE ONLY THING WRONG WITH THESE 2 REELS I WISH IT HAD THE EXTRA LONG SPOOLS ON THESE PENN REELS & MY SON REGAN HAS THE PENN IV 8500 LIVE LINER REEL & HE IS REALLY HAPPY WITH THIS REEL.
Regan has taken the braid of his reel & I'm going to tell to put FLUROCARBON LINE ON HIS REEL & HAVE A 50 LB LEADER AS WELL
Kind Regards Peter PS Sir I Wish You A Happy New Year For 2023 & Hope It Is A Good 1 For 2023
You might be overthinking it.
Mind blown! 🤯🤯🤯 never considered that before, thanks DD!
Great video didnt realize that flouro was that sensitive. Nice to know.
I will use mono on big swimbaits for the stretch and that's it
Yes sir! Same for me.
I’m a line watcher .....did you feel it or just see it?
What's the best full spool casting floracarbon
Awesome video. Gamma line is great! Really like their flourocarbon and just trying their braid this year.
love braid but i prefer spooling my baitcaster with fluorocarbon now mainly because even with braid and mono/fluoro leader the braid is visible to fish in the water, while straight fluroro on your entire spool is invisible and goes through line guides like butter, plus doesnt dig in to your spool on a hook up or snag
Good info and demonstration .
That's pretty damn interesting. I'm a Fl. guy because of the super clear water I fish though. hahaha
BassGeek love ya Hank
Where does braid to a fluro leader fit into things ?
Brilliant! And yeah, you used the scientific method to prove flouro carbon transmits movement even on a slack line. Great job!
yes he prove it... but matters it in real life fishing conditions?
Really good video really good advice money can't buy experience 👍👍👍
What are your thoughts about Braid with a Floarocarbin leader?
Okay i see what your saying here but the best part of braid and the hi-vis braids you can line watch and look at that fly line color braid and see every movement or jump in the line when you get a bite
Just proved how beneficial braid to fluoro is for flipping. Feider has been proving that for a while
Kudos to David for constant experimentation, but there are a slew of variables not accounted for in this expirement. I wouldn't take too much from this.
Question guys! I see a lot of people using roughly 60/40 braid to fluorocarbon.. I understand using a leader but what’s the point of just having all that braid under if you’ll never see it?
By that theory, mono is equally more sensitive on slack. Right?
but you can't line watch Fluorocarbon because it sinks so fast. if your boat moves it wraps around submerged vegetation.
the number one difference is, line belly up, or line belly down. Do you want your lure and line to drag along the bottom, or hop along the bottom.
Great video as usual! Can you do a video on different knots and when you use them?
Haven’t watched the full yet but I only defer from flouro if 20-25lb doesn’t do the trick. Then I switch to 50-65lb braid
Great information but the one thing I want to know is how sensitivity on flouro to braid?
For you guys talking about Fluoro leaders, I will say this...get a specific "shock" leader, if you want to use flouro...I use mono almost exclusively because it absorbs the shock of the hook set better than fluorocarbon.... Just my 2 cents.
I've tested mono as well and it is more sensitive than braid or flouro on slack line
What about when u got a flouracarbon lead to braid
Always use braid to a leader either fluorocarbon or mono depending on the situation serves me well
Do you think fish can see the braid
Great vid!! Laterally today i was thinking about switching over to braid.. but now, maybe not.
Awesome man I knew I had a good reason to hate braid.😂 I also hate cutting that garbage out of my trolling motor. Sorry for all the braid hate👍🏼😂
Interesting!! When jigging areas where theres not a ton of snags, I use fluoro for the invisibility. I do notice that it feels more sensitive (than braid) and I get a lot of fish on the fall. Whereas braid.. Not really. I'm actually feeling them with fluoro!
Interesting info. Thanks! Very helpful!
You just blew my mind. Going to make some adjustments.
I have noticed this when fishing a Rapala minnow when you stop and go lot of time i did feel the bite when useing bread
I dont think flipping or punching mats would be wise using flurocarbon. I don't think the leader would make a difference either.
@@k.b.2262 true that, I'm A 70lb samurai guy myself.
Do you have any concern about braid causing a vibration in the water on a moving bait, like a spinnerbait, and turning fish off?
Shoot. I may have restock on fluro line now..Hey D.D. whats up with the weird colored lighting..? Really some good info. Thanks.
