I built my entire 2010 5.4 by following Andrew but mostly Jordan and their build videos!! AWESOME!! He literally taught me how to set the play in my crank lash, I used the Molnar Rods Diamond pistons accufab tensioner and chains boundary gear ARP bottom side and head bolts cam gear bolts washers etc but I did my own heads! That’s where I went wrong but I was out of money! If your thinking of building your own go back in Andrew’s archive and follows him and Jordan!
Truly do not understand why folks buy these to supercharge them… this motor was not designed for that. You’re spending 2x what you could for a 5.0 and getting a lesser motor for what your intentions are with it. Ya ever wonder why the GT500 is not a flat plane and doesn’t rev to 8200rpm… this car is the perfect NA machine with a suspension to match
That just simply isn’t true. The owner himself has admitted this was user error. He was using 93 fuel on a cold night street racing, at that boost/power level, he got exactly what he was asking for. People get the gt350 and supercharge it because 8250 rpm’s and lots of power is addicting!
Why buy a GT350 when there's 5.0 cars running 9's all motor like Steeda ? I got a 2020 PP1 and raced a GT350 from a roll and he could not pull half a car length on me. 40-150 mph race....
Great Video. Great team of experts. MHS looks like htey know what they doing. And no theres not much videos on teardown on this particular videos. I baught a gt350 from auction and came with a bad engine, after doing research i end up buying a new long brock from ford on my dime with discount help from a friend at ford. She’s running strong now. Good luck on the new build motor. I would keep it N/A. 👍
It’s all good I’m very happy this happened, I’ve been wanting to pull the engine and have it built for awhile now and now I get to turn it up to 1200+hp. Hell yeah!
Have you tried a heat gun on the back pulleys to expand it a bit, don’t need to get much over 225-240 degrees to expand the back 2 pulleys enough to remove the front press fit pulley.
The dipstick bent was pretty funny. I have 2v out of a 2003 explorer was thinking about doing coyote rods and decent forged pistons for a turbo application say 700 crank hp on pump gas. It has a set of Cushman stage 2 cams in it as well. I got a 306 pushrod motor now in a 90 Foxbody but always wanted a street turbo combo.
I am not even gonna lie. I would not even know where to begin looking at an engine teardown. I will leave this to the professionals and pay them to do it for me.
Love seeing this content. I had a built 5.4 2v with tfs 38cc heads and mhs did a great job on porting and polishing them. Degreed the cams and made a shit ton of power. Had a D1 procharger on e85. I miss that car. Going to pick up a 15+ gt soon. Lol
The flat plane is already high-strung in stock form. Power adders is not what the flat plane can take. Ford chose to go back to cross plane for the GT500 for a reason. Probably costs as much as anything.
So from a 2019 gt350 owner who is on the fence about boosting. Am I presumably safer since I have the newest gen engine ? Sucks to see it but I'm sure he'll build it back better.
There has been known issues with the gen 1 5.2 engine blowing gaskets because lack of material in cylinder 4/8. Supposedly, it was fixed in the gen 2 cast. I don't think it was detonation by the looks of the pistons. i'd say it was the block crack/head gasket that caused this damage just due to the amount of power being made and cylinder pressures.
He's the professional, but he's using his phone for a flashlight. Lmao! Dude is super cool and I appreciate his knowledge and expertise, but that munchkin voice is killing me.🤣🤣🤣 All in fun though! Life is good when you have great friends and family to help and support you!🙌🥰
With the money spent on these cars you would think e85 only for 14 psi.93 pump I would only run 10psi max don’t lower compression get enough octane or back down the boost if you don’t have the octane

I have a question- did you say that this combination of driving on a cold night, with 93 octane fuel in the tank (along with being boosted), were conditions likely to have caused this engine failure? What?? 1- 91+ octane is required 2- What's wrong with driving on a cold night, so long as the engine is sufficiently warmed (at operating temperature) when you start doing pulls and exceeding 4,000 RPM?? Am I missing something?
Correct me if I am wrong. But wouldn't it be best to spend the extra money and add meth/water injection when adding boost to high compression engines. Also wouldn't good heads make a huge improvement. And just as I am typing this at the end you answered my assumption. Drop some compression. Wish these guys would learn, or at least ones building make some suggestions to owners.
Hi Jordan, would you buy a gt350, a shelby gt500 or just keep it simple and get a mustang gt ? The 350 has had a lot of engine problems. The shelby gt 500 seems better with less engine issues. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
