I remember many people used to criticise the fact the filmmakers apparently 'destroyed a lovely, old house' in the making of this film. Au contraire, this house, both the exterior, and interior, were fabricated from scratch for the film. The outside of the house was merely an empty shell, rigged with explosives, on a British army field, in Surrey, England. All of the interior was built on a soundstage at Pinewood Studios. Still, it looks so real, and beautiful.
I think it is far more intriguing where the go now. I think they hinted at it with No Time to Die but I think now is the time for the net person to be in that Craig continuity and become 007 James Bond as a full codename and in the original real Bonds honour and memory. Also keeps the enemies guessing, isnt this dude supposed to be dead? He is unkillable.
Yeah, but not as much friends as the mother/son relationship. She essentially adopted him. If you watch it with this perspective it takes on more meaning.
I am absolutely enthralled with Dame Judi Dench, I've never seen her give anything other than a great performance in anything she's done. Same goes for Helen Mirren, 2 legendary actresses.
The dark horse of the movie is Roger Deakins who has provided with mesmerizing cinematography , be it shanghai tower scene , climax scene or macau scene. Cinematography work of Deakins adds a great value to a movie . He owned Blade runner 2049 too .
I love Glen Coe where that was filmed. I once sat on some grass near the Hidden Valley in windy wet weather and heard bagpipes faintly. I thought I was hearing things but through binocs I could see a piper in a car park up the glen. It amazed me how the wind blew the sound right to the other end. Wonderful.
Respect to the absolute legend Albert Finney. Love that Kincaid just takes it in his stride when his dead boss's presumed dead kid randomly shows up telling them that "some men are coming to kill us but we're going to kill then first".
Fun fact, there were rumors that Connery was set to be considered to play Kincaid. However assuming that Connery who was happily retired would’ve been willing to come out of retirement briefly, the producers opted not to out of concern his appearance would’ve been distracting from the rest of the film. Additionally it would’ve given credence to the theory that alongside the agent given the designation 007, they would be given the alias James Bond
I can see that in some cases, the codename theory makes sense, but how would Kincade recognise him as "James Bond" here, when he has just known him as a kid and clearly doesn't know that he works for MI6? Apart from that his parents are named Bond also, as can be seen on their tombstones near the chapel.
@@marcokrueger3399 well I don’t know if the producers ever actually considered playing more into that theory especially for the reason you mentioned but I believe again that having a former Bond be in the same movie as the current Bond would’ve given that rumor some strength.
still, it would've been a great fucking cameo. could you imagine the fucking screams in the theaters? i would've jumped out of my fucking seat and scream like a bitch. i would've convinced my dad to go see it as he was a fan of sean connery and he would've gone nuts for it!
That would’ve been pretty cool. Connery wouldn’t do Indiana Jones 4. Although that was probably a wise decision, given how crappy that movie was. At least it would’ve been cool to see him in this movie.
I agree. It was so very appropriately celebrated Britishness in its imagery and themes, likely to do with the year it was released where we hosted the Olympics.
I never realised, until just now, that the excellent character part of Kincaid was played by the late great Albert Finney. No surprise then that Kincaid’s character adds so much to the film. By far my favourite Bond film of all time. One other unmentioned fact about Skyfall is the music/film score. It expertly and cunningly enhances the menace of many scenes, it is dark and in some ways raises the anxiety level in what is about to happen next.
Epic screen. Beautiful mountains of Scotland, foggy & misty clouds, Judy Dench & Craig in a crisp suite. And that oh so British Aston Martin. Going over Bond's dark, foggy childhood. All that's missing is a cup of Earl Grey
i fell in love so much with the Scottish landscape after watching Skyfall, i decided to go to Scotland myself to see the scenery! it was one of the best trips i ever had. wish i could go back to february 2017!
3:03 imagine if that was Connery? This role was totally written for him. Craig: “are you sure you’re ready for this?” Sean: “I was ready before you were even born son.”
I would of liked that but it may of overshadowed everything else at the end. The actor for this role was perfect, we all know him and that he will be a badass, but we can still focus on Bond and M.
I saw Skyfall at the Sydney Opera House with the sound track performed live by the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. Absolutely stunning. The finale was the famous Bond signature tune played with an expanded brass section. Unforgettable.
Daniel Craig totally changed the Bond era and gave it an outstanding new meaning. After his retirement of stepping down from the James Bond series and putting it in his rivern mirror there will never be a better 007 than him. Truly knowing that's our Bond. The G.O.A.T. He sure is my favorite one, as I like to call him James Blonde ❤ 🙏 💕 🥰 . My favorite Bond film of his was Casino Royale, with the song intro You Know My Name by Chris Cornell !!! 👍👍 .
What made Skyfall the best Bond was that it took all the formula Bond tropes and reversed them. Instead of an old man, Q was young. The high-tech gadgets were a gun and a radio. The damsel in distress was M. Instead of the villains fortress, the final fight was Bond's ancestral home. They even made Bond himself a physical wreck who couldn't shoot. He didn't even get his car until late in the movie, and the only thing he used was the machine guns. All Bond had to rely on was himself, but that was enough.
Epic cinematography moment in this clip. Watch when Bond enters the house and leads the way. There comes a point where M changes from taking in her surroundings of the house to stopping and focusing on Bond. At that point, she's empathising with Bond and wondering how it would of been for him to grow up in such circumstances. When the camera shot changes from looking directly at M to looking at Bond over M's shoulder, Bond has drastically shrunk in size. Depiction of the little lost boy that she decided to look after under her wing. One of the best filmmaking shots of the entire series in my opinion.

0:22 I don't like pinstripe suits at all, but this one strikes just the right balance--the the lines do not stand out in sharp contrast, and they are spaced closely enough that they would disappear into the fabric at a distance.
This movie was just a masterpiece. Every location was just so perfectly shot like this one. And then you have the music and the whole plot was just perfect.
I love the ambiguity of Bond’s past and the more personal ending that doesn’t go for a “villain wants to destroy the world” cliche. If anything, it’s the villain coming for them, not the other way around as it usually is.
When you grow older and wiser, you also learn that it`s real. There are people out there who simply want to " see the world burn". The only difference is that there is no hero`s or James Bonds out there. Only normal humans who believe that the world is worth saving
This scene showed bonds vulnerable side which sets it apart from all the other 007 movies. Absolutely love that scene where bonds 'old' car gets reintroduce. I really think that Daniel Craig is the best bond of all of them but McCartneys live at let die is hands down the best bond music!
This right here, is why "SKYFALL" might be the best Bond film of them all, and here's why. There are two scenes in "SKYFALL" that are EXTREMELY IMPORTANT , and this is one of them. This scene right here, is the first scene in the HISTORY of the Bond franchise that begins to dive into James Bond's past. "SKYFALL" is the first Bond film ever made, that makes an attempt (a solid successful one, mind you) to give Bond a backstory and a "history" ... when it comes to his parents, his upbringing, where he came from, and how he got recruited to MI6. While his backstory got expanded a lot more in the following film "SPECTRE", "SKYFALL" was the first film to crack it open ever so slightly. No previous Bond film before "SKYFALL", ever really made an attempt to give Bond a backstory or history ... "GOLDENEYE" did it a lil bit, when Bond confronts 006/Trevelyan late in the film. It was a solid attempt, but it didn't have the kind of results that "SKYFALL" had. The other scene in "SKYFALL" that is so important in terms of building character and depth to Bond ... is the 'word association' scene he does with the psychiatrist/doctor earlier in the film. Its the first scene IN THE HISTORY of the Bond franchise, that makes an attempt to dive DEEP into Bond's psyche. Its a short scene, but its extremely effective when you not only think DEEP about this answers, but how quickly he answers them. When the doctor says "Country", and Bond quickly replies with "England", that tells you his ULTIMATE LOYALTY. Its not to the women he's with ... its not to his boss M ... his ultimate loyalty is to his country more than anything.
At 59 years old, Roger Moore was the Bond of my generation. Having seen all the Bond movies multiple times IMO Craig and his movies were the best by far.
Best of Craig in my opinion, I loved casino royale and even no time to die but this is just brilliant, he's extracted everything that you can out of the character without making it seem like he's going out of character
Skyfall is my favorite Bond film. I hiked these roads in one of my travels to Scotland. Scotland with its grey hits different. It’s not Scotland without it
I find it so admirable that Kincade, being alone and old still dressed up every day. I respect that from the previous generations, they refuse to look lazy/informal even if there’s no one around. They keep clean and groomed as habit
00:34 "...How old were you when they died..." "...You know the whole story..." "...orphans often make the best recruits..." "...a storm is coming..." then a slight and knowing smile by both them. There is a deep connection between them that went far beyond employee and boss, more like mother and son. Very insightful and heartwarming scene, in my opinion. I hope we learn the whole story in future films.
Skyfall was the perfect summation of Bond and M's working relationship over the years. The way Bond evolved from annoying M with his recklessness and questionable judgement to the both of them having compassion and understanding for one another.
“It’s all fixable.” The Shipping News. Great film. Watch it. I wish I had the apparent sense of belonging that Judi and Daniel have in front of the camera. Fantastic actors. Thanks for your contributions to our culture and entertainment
I remmeber the aprehension for Craig to be Bond, myself included. I really liked Layer Cake but wasnt exactly the model James Bond. Exactly what it needed. A grittier version, long gone are the days of fixing cufflinks (except that one tongue in cheek scene ha) and made him IMO the best Bond to date. Some real big shoes to fill after NTTD.
To me, Skyfall had a different vibe or feel to it at times than the Bond films that came before it; this whole scene, especially the drive up to the estate, is a great example.
How it looks on camera is all in the mind of the actor/actress as in real life the sets are dull and if you're not cool and reactive to how it would look in a film. It's like being on the other side of Alice in Wonderland's mirror. I love it.
When he's standing outside the car at the start that's Glen Etive (even prettier in real life) which is just before Glencoe. When he's driving from about 1:07 that's the A82 road towards Glencoe (there's a turn off to the left for Glen Etive). Go see them, it's worth it.
Skyfall's cinematographer deserves a raise for these gorgeous shots.
Sir roger deakins
I bet he’s gotten more raises than any cinematographer in history. It’s none other than the famed king Roger Deakins.

I hope it was also a model of an Aston Martin they blew up, and not that beautiful masterpiece of a car.
The landscape, the car, Bond, M, and a whole lot of feeling!
It's incredible the way Dench and Craig nailed the friendship as it would be in those circumstances. Such talented artists.
Go on, eject me then.
I like how Kincaid calls M Emma, after Bond calls her M.
Then we'd better get ready.
a bit surprised that they didn't have a Scot play Kincaid .... someone like James Cosmo ...
@@bluerock4456 They considered a Scot. Sean Connery!
I like how Kincaid doesn't even hesitate when bond says we're going to kill them first. Legend
@@bluerock4456 but you didn't mind the Scottish accent when Sean played the English character?
1:04 "Storm's coming" Cool shot of the Aston Martin DB5.😊😊😊😊
The dark horse of the movie is Roger Deakins who has provided with mesmerizing cinematography , be it shanghai tower scene , climax scene or macau scene. Cinematography work of Deakins adds a great value to a movie . He owned Blade runner 2049 too .

RD the master in both of those excellent works of theatre.
That first scene makes me fall in love with Scotland landscape.
Wonderful.
after i saw this filim , always get tempering to visit Scotland
I’ve been hiking in the Scottish mountains , it’s unbelievable!
There is a certain mystery in it that is unlike anywhere else in the world
Respect to the absolute legend Albert Finney. Love that Kincaid just takes it in his stride when his dead boss's presumed dead kid randomly shows up telling them that "some men are coming to kill us but we're going to kill then first".
YES haha "Well then we'd better get ready!"
@@marcokrueger3399 What would be the point of taking on the name James Bond? Then all the bad guys would know you’re a spy if your name is James Bond.
The musical score in this part gives me goosebumps…
Do you know the composer?
Edit: Of course, Thomas Newman. I recognised that clarinet from his scoring of Passengers.
I was surprised how far down I had to scroll before seeing a comment about the score. Such an ominous piece of music.
I give this 10/10 it's my favorite bond films of all time this is Craigs best performance

I would like to see a take with Brian Blessed
Loved Albert Finney in 1970's Scrooge
Skyfall is my favourite
Beautifully shot movie.
Wherabouts did you go in Scotland - Highlands, West coast or east coast?
@@Rendell001 The Highlands!
The sense of loneliness, the sense of shame in exploiting it. Encapsulated.
Skyfall is the greatest Bond movie ever made.
Scotland, one of the most beautiful places on this earth of ours, even his Englishman must admit!
This is my favorite James Bond movie. It is done so well.
Scotland really is magically beautiful ❤️
3:03 imagine if that was Connery? This role was totally written for him.
Craig: “are you sure you’re ready for this?”
Sean: “I was ready before you were even born son.”
Oh fuck the hell yes! One final cameo.
I would of liked that but it may of overshadowed everything else at the end. The actor for this role was perfect, we all know him and that he will be a badass, but we can still focus on Bond and M.
The roof of every theater would have blown off on the first showing when they got to this scene if it was Sean...
Skyfall is and will always be the best bond movie
Apart from being the best Bond film, screenplay and special effects, the soundtrack of Skyfall is brilliant.
I saw Skyfall at the Sydney Opera House with the sound track performed live by the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. Absolutely stunning. The finale was the famous Bond signature tune played with an expanded brass section. Unforgettable.
I don't know why - but whenever i feel down and watch Craig's bond movies, especially this one - they kind of heal me up
Possibly the best film of all time in my opinion!!
When Bond says "Your're still alive" and kincaid responds!
Typically northern England and further welcome!😁
Best bond film of all time for sure
Man I just love Craig as bond, he acts and looks rough the way I’d expect a messed up guy would be but at the same time elegant like a gentleman spy.
RIP Albert Finney, he was also one of the first actors considered for James Bond before Connery.
Best and most intriguing bond movie
Epic cinematography moment in this clip. Watch when Bond enters the house and leads the way. There comes a point where M changes from taking in her surroundings of the house to stopping and focusing on Bond. At that point, she's empathising with Bond and wondering how it would of been for him to grow up in such circumstances. When the camera shot changes from looking directly at M to looking at Bond over M's shoulder, Bond has drastically shrunk in size. Depiction of the little lost boy that she decided to look after under her wing. One of the best filmmaking shots of the entire series in my opinion.

What I love about this scene is that Kincade didn’t hesitate about going to battle against Silva and his men. That is just pure BA for an old gamekeeper.
Using only improvised explosive and having to divvy up the guns and ammo between the three of them. Yeah, dude rocks!
Probably the closest thing to Family, that Bond has...
One of the more visually stunning bond films, and my second favorite of the craig era behind only casino royale
For me SKYFALL is best bond film.

FANTASTIC FILM !! Daniel Craig is my personal fav bond as he is very very deep and moody and a very matter of a fact kinda person. Just my cup of earl grey. Gutted he has left this brilliant role near impossible boots to fill. GOOD LUCK BABS .
This brings back memories 😔
I love that house so much. I would love to live in a house like that, obviously all fixed up and with modern fixtures to some extent.
This was the first james bond movie I seen from beginning to end. It came out my senior year in high school. Ill always remmeber and pick this one as my favorite.
0:22 I don't like pinstripe suits at all, but this one strikes just the right balance--the the lines do not stand out in sharp contrast, and they are spaced closely enough that they would disappear into the fabric at a distance.
Best Bond ever and the best 007 movie ever !!!
Such a beautiful location
If you drive up the A82 you too can visit the exact location at the beginning.
I sucked in my breath when I saw it in the theater. Feels like you're there in Scotland.
@@stevearmstrong5324 Truly an incredibly beautiful piece of ground.
Which is just perfect considering it’s Javier Bardem whose most iconic role was a guy who hunts you down relentlessly
Casino royale,, skyfall,, r my favorite bond movies,,love frm assam india 🇮🇳
This scene showed bonds vulnerable side which sets it apart from all the other 007 movies. Absolutely love that scene where bonds 'old' car gets reintroduce. I really think that Daniel Craig is the best bond of all of them but McCartneys live at let die is hands down the best bond music!
Go listen to Shirley Bassey doing the theme for Goldfinger and tell me if that McCartney tune is still your favorite. 😉
Somehow was reminded of these scenes, when I watched the live coverage from Balmoral yesterday...
I have been to this location. so alive and breathtaking
“If all else fails, sometimes the old ways are best,” OK Kincade goes hard. Damn.
CinemaWins I see!
"Welcome to Scotland!" 😲😂
Ok boomer
This sequence is supernaturally good. I will never forget the first time I saw it, the music, the mood, "" welcome to Scotland " BADASS
Truly the best BOND in history. SAM MENDES is KING of all Bond movies.
Agreed!!!! Loved helping Elders as a child, no one knew but gpa
Without doubt, the BEST bond film of all time with the BEST Bond of all time.
"Storm's cominggg" ...quite right ✅️
At 59 years old, Roger Moore was the Bond of my generation. Having seen all the Bond movies multiple times IMO Craig and his movies were the best by far.
Ok boomer
After I saw this film, every time it is a cloudy, chilly day, I remember that shot with Bond standing beside his car with M standing next to him.
Thomas Newman is such a legend. Those soundtracks (Skyfall and Spectre) are gorgeous
Best of Craig in my opinion, I loved casino royale and even no time to die but this is just brilliant, he's extracted everything that you can out of the character without making it seem like he's going out of character
If this was made in the 80's the sky would literally fall
Skyfall is my favorite Bond film. I hiked these roads in one of my travels to Scotland. Scotland with its grey hits different. It’s not Scotland without it
The Aston Martin DB5: the car so cool that you can drive it from London to Scotland in wet weather, and it's still sparkling clean when you get there.
Its an Aston Martin after all..and then a DB5, a classic beauty. Even a speck of dust is an insult.
Fantastic Bond movie. One of the best ever made. Such a masterpiece
Skyfall is the Bond movie that every other one desperately wanted to be, but couldn’t.
kincaid is the same dude who trained david webb into becoming jason bourne
Thought I recognised the voice.
Daddy Warbucks gets around!
Craig is my favorite Bond!
I find it so admirable that Kincade, being alone and old still dressed up every day. I respect that from the previous generations, they refuse to look lazy/informal even if there’s no one around. They keep clean and groomed as habit
The best 007 movie ever ... pure class ⚡⚡⚡
The sound of the river flowing gave me chills.
Craig's voice nearly breaking at 0:46 makes this scene.
I love these scenes, very lovely acting, Judi was wonderful and always loved Daniel, nice rugged good looks and all macho xx
Just great writing and characters, nothing but respect ✊
No wonder you never came back.
Seriously despite the lack of utilizing the land it's beautiful, the house as well. It reminds me of my home and coast.

For my money, the best sequence in any James Bond movie.
To me, Skyfall had a different vibe or feel to it at times than the Bond films that came before it; this whole scene, especially the drive up to the estate, is a great example.
One of THE best sequences in any Bond.
How it looks on camera is all in the mind of the actor/actress as in real life the sets are dull and if you're not cool and reactive to how it would look in a film. It's like being on the other side of Alice in Wonderland's mirror. I love it.
The best musical score of all the Bond films.
beautiful cinematography, I immediatley wanted to take a trip to this location
When he's standing outside the car at the start that's Glen Etive (even prettier in real life) which is just before Glencoe. When he's driving from about 1:07 that's the A82 road towards Glencoe (there's a turn off to the left for Glen Etive). Go see them, it's worth it.
