Not really necessary to tear others down just to celebrate one performer.
Yes, this performance was excellent. Her stage presence and her singing were excellent. But that doesn’t mean those who use autotune can’t command a stage or deliver powerful performances. It certainly doesn’t mean those wearing different clothes can’t deliver powerful performances.

    Both Sides Now
Rows and floes of angel hair
And ice cream castles in the air
    And feather canyons everywhere
I've looked at clouds that way
But now they only block the sun
They rain and snow on everyone
So many things I would have done
But clouds got in my way
I've looked at clouds from both sides now
From up and down, and still somehow
    It's cloud illusions I recall
I really don't know clouds at all
Moons and Junes and Ferris wheels
The dizzy dancing way you feel
As every fairy tale comes real
I've looked at love that way
But now it's just another show
You leave 'em laughing when you go
And if you care, don't let them know
    Don't give yourself away
I've looked at love from both sides now
From give and take, and still somehow
    It's love's illusions I recall
I really don't know love at all
Tears and fears and feeling proud
To say "I love you" right out loud
Dreams and schemes and circus crowds
I've looked at life that way
But now old friends are acting strange
They shake their heads, they say I've changed
Well something's lost, but something's gained
    In living every day
I've looked at life from both sides now
From win and lose and still somehow
    It's life's illusions I recall
    I really don't know life
I've looked at life from both sides now
From up and down and still somehow
    It's life's illusions I recall

This was a beautiful movie. You had to see the nuances to really see the beauty. The scene where she "sang" to her father was unforgettable and really was an emotional pinnacle. You fell in love with characters - which is rare in today's cinema.

I don't much about this movie, but boy does she nail this song! I'm so burned out on these female singers that climb the scales and screech and holler! Let's all just slow down! This is a singer, just sing a song the simple, natural way! She makes you listen to a every word, every note and every emotion! Just simple beautiful!

I am Japanese. The other day, I watched CODA alone at the movie theater. The actors' performance was so wonderful that I immersed myself in this beautiful world. Among them, in the last scene, I watched it in tears all the time. The word "disability" in this world should be deleted from the dictionary of all countries. Because everyone loves their families, loves their friends, and lives by loving themselves. The word "disabled" sounds like discrimination. That's very sad for me.

    • @gwen7070
      @gwen7070 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

As a disabled person myself, I appreciate the intention behind this idea, but I think it's still important to recognize the concept of disability. Pretending disability doesn't exist won't remove the discrimination and barriers that most of us face every day.
On a related note, please, please, please don't use terms like "differently abled" and "special needs" to describe people with disabilities/disabled people!
