- This 2016 Camaro SS features a street-level tune Vortech V3 Centrifugal Supercharger which adds 100 HP and 100 lb/ft of torque to the Camaro's already potent LT1 engine, for a streetable 500 WHP on pump gas.

Why is everyone stating the cost of that car as $70k? He said the S/C kit was about $7k installed and tuned. The 2SS Camaro is about $40k with a few visual options and the quad exhaust with bypass valve. So all up the cost should be about $47k, not $70k. For $70k you can have a ZL1 1LE package with the factory S/C with another 80 to 100 whp.
Hardly, on the same dyno he's using it would be ~30whp more.
in the video matt says "you're probably looking at around $7k for (the supercharger and) the tune?" so people probably misheard him as saying $70k as in the price of the car
A new 2SS is not 40K thats the cost of the 1SS , if you are planing to get a 2SS plan on walking out spending at least 50k most people walk out paying 53K. The lucky ones with a great great deal walk out at 51 or so. And due to the pandemic its even more than 53K

That supercharger works the same way as a turbo. They are essentially the same. Turbos build power up top too, most superchargers build power down low, but the one he has installed doesn't.

The guidance subsystem uses deviations to generate corrective commands to drive the missile from a position where it is to a position where it isn't, and arriving at a position where it wasn't, it now is. In the event that the position that it is in is not the position that it wasn't, the system has acquired a variation, the variation being the difference between where the missile is, and where it wasn't. people need to stop saying it's not a lot of horsepower for a supercharged engine. you guys are wrong. Remember the car is making around 400 wheel horsepower stock. with the supercharger he's making 500. that's a 100hp increase. on top of that the supercharger isn't making a lot of boost at all. 100hp from 6.5 pounds of boost is a lot. especially coming from a snail charger.

Tune, weight, and a modern chassis/suspension ... putting power down isn't as exciting as shredding tires, but it sure is a lot faster :)

I had a camaro zl1 -13 jlt cai and tune. it woke up at 4000 and kept power until 6200. but pretty tame down low

508whp sounded disappointing low for an F/I 6th Gen SS.. Then I heard him say the car was dyno'd on CMS's dyno. Ryne has cars that make XXX whp on his dyno that regularly go out and kill other street cars with ~100whp more. Ryne knows what he's doing, he's got the formula down. Nice car, man!

Years later maybe someone will come across this comment and save some money. I picked up 130 on an ls3 with a cam, valvetrain, headers, and cat delete. $2400 after miscellaneous purchases, 2 oil changes, and a tune. If it’s power/$ your looking for there is a better way to do it. You def take a quality of life hit with the NA route though. I know a DynoJet doesn’t compare to whatever Cunningham is using, but 502/466 is not bad for a 5th gen.
changing modes changes a couple things. throttle response is not one, either is transmission shift points or firmness. It will make some changes to trans settings like holding gears for turns or putting into manual shift mode but not shift points and firmness. with mag ride it changes settings like firmness, changes exhaust sound and steering feel if not manually set. also it adjust the amount of traction control intervention. there is also comp mode.

What you guys have to understand is that a dyno is just a tool used for tuning the car. Some dynos read dramtically lower than others and some read very high.
Hey Matt, have you ever thought about adding a 'Classified' section to Wheelwell? IMO it would be a great place for people who want to buy a car that has already been modified and can check out the build as well or even just stock cars.

I agree with matt on the steering. People are constantly moaning that steering isn't heavy enough in most cars, but why the hell would you want incredibly heavy steering? I understand maybe on the race track but on public roads? Personally I like my cars to be easy to drive. Just because I have decent sized biceps doesn't mean I like to use them. You learn to appreciate light steering when you're in stop and go traffic 70% of your commutes and when the parking lots in your city are ridiculously tight.
DannyLlerenaTV Yeah. Steering isn't one of those things that should be adjustable. Throttle sensitivity either. There's a correct, balanced way to calibrate those things and there should be one setting. And this is coming from a guy who loves adjustability in other areas of a car.
I have a '16 2SS and prefer the steering weight to touring (lightest setting). Not a fan of the artificial weight.
Light steering is nice in parking lots, at speed I like to feel the road and powersteering fucks that

Revs to 6800, dam my Coyote 5.0 revs to 7500. If I put a GT 350 IM on it will rev to 8000. Plus I can take a crowd out at 2500 no problem.

It’s alsp pretty pathetic it’s on;y 500whp. A base supercharger kit puts the mustang to 650-700 and the kits cost the same. So 650 and a higher redline
He said he was only running 6 lbs of boost on the current tune. You can crank it up pretty easily and produce way more. I wonder why he didnt.

dope car. Gotta say, the Camaro really is just a stellar car, even in the lower trims, its still a great looking car, and the packages exist if you want to go faster.
I think back to when they first started bringing muscle cars back, with the first Charger, and it just wasnt well recieved by a lot of folks and you'd often hear people say they shouldnt bring back the muscle cars.. Idk.. I think Chevy has done justice to the Camaro, especially in its most recent editions.

Do all US cars now require daytime running lights? Canada brought that regulation in years ago. I know at least for some time US cars didn't have that equipped.

So it's been 4 years now. How is your build going? What else have you done. I'm thinking about the ECS 1500 Paxton with 30/34 pulleys. I think it should be about 6.5 pounds of boost much like your V3Si. Not looking to add much down low, the car has plenty now for street use. How's the engine holding up?

You know there are a bunch of guys with 6.2 v8 c63 amgs myself included running 500rwhp naturally aspirated with a handful of upgrades and I do not doubt for a second the New SS would not do the same. Anyone here want to chime in? maybe a ss owner?
One more thing to add. The M156 was designed to be a race engine in cars that cost 60k or more. The LT1 you can get for ~35k. Also you have to look at torque figures. The M156 in the SLS has 622hp and only 468lbft of torque. The LT1 almost beats that stock. The higher the LT1 hp goes the higher the torque goes and by the time you reach 500rwhp on the LT1 you have almost 500rwtq. The M156 cant touch that.
So, did he make this into a 1LE spec? It's got the 1LE wheels and front splitter at least. IMO the rear spoiler on the SS is the worst part, and if I had an SS I'd switch it to the 1LE spoiler first thing.

Cool Car! The air filter location on this setup isn't the greatest tho... It's got to be pulling in a lot of hot air being basically right on top of the driver side valve cover.
Question he said in Track mode it softens the response up? Is that a result of the tune or from the factory? I just bought a 2017 2SS and ride in track mode most of the time with traction control off. I’ve only had it for 3 days so I haven’t noticed a major difference yet.

Can someone clarify why my coyote 5.0 engine will get to 500rwhp with bolt ons or 650+rwhp with a supercharger yet this camaro engine only gets to 500 with a $7k supercharger? The numbers don't add up. Perhaps GM pretty much squeezed everything out of it? Looking for a real response!
BTW idk any coyotes putting down 500whp na on any dyno. A long tube, e85, gt350 manifold 5.0 put doown only 453whp and 400wtq on a Dynojet while a long tube, e85 SS put down 447whp and 448wtq on a mustang dyno. That SS would destroy that Mustang anyday. Add a MSD intake manifold or ported stock one easy 20whp. So almost 470whp on a mustang dyno. Bolt ons the Coyote has nothing on the lt1
KOOLNERD it all depends on the dyno. Cunninghams dyno is about the lowest reading dyno in the country. The LT1 makes more power naturally aspirated bolt on for bolt on than a coyote. Just E85 and a tune and you'll be smoking FBO and E85 coyotes. Drop longtubes, full catback, msd intake manifold, throttle body, intake, you're close to 500 hp 500 tq to the wheels. No FBO coyote is hitting that, the most I've ever seen was like 460-470 rwhp and much less tq. Now boosted the coyote is a great engine, there's no denying that. Also the LT1 is still a fairly new engine, the coyote has been out since 2011, it has more aftermarket support. I'll go boosted if I had a coyote, that's where they really shine, naturally aspirated it cost too much money for modular engines. Not worth it really.

Okay so I've noticed this for a while but can someone please explain to me why Chevy puts paddles on the steering wheels of cars with manual transmissions? Are they just too cheap to make two different steering wheels?

There's a minor facelift in 2019/2020 but no new gen yet.
Power seems off. I'm running a procharger f1r on a 2011 mustang gt making 900 rwhp on 93 octane and meth injection. I would see if the tune is off. That mustang dyno shouldn't be off that much.
