    I was watching Nelson engine's talking about all his supercharger builds vs Turbos and he said a supercharger destroys bearings do to lots of harmonics from the belt drive and cuts the life in half compared to Turbos. But I'm about to boost my new SS camaro

    • @ZtZoomin
      @ZtZoomin  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      yeah he's not wrong. Over time, adding any boost going to wear things out quicker. SC's are harder on the motor but if you build the motor correctly to sustain the power, generally the extra wear is not a huge concern. Cheap, Fast or Reliable, pick 2 lol.

    Made me think about having a procharger over the Whipple supercharger for my 2023 chevrolet suburban 6.2L

    • @al151
      @al151 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Supercharger especially Whipple will give you ton of low rpm and midrange torque but then when rpm reaches above 5000 it starts to fall on its face. With Procharger you get flatter torque curve over the rpm range and power also keeps building up. My suggestion is do a cam setup and then procharge it. You will have a 800-900 hp monster truck!

    Building my pro charger kit now with my local shop. I’m doing the exact same setup as you, a pro charger with the factory intake, helical gears, upgraded intercooler. My cars a completely stock 2018 2SS 6 speed. My question for you is what head unit did you go with? I’m assuming the stock air box only goes with the P1SC, but I wasn’t sure.

    If I could do it all over again I would have gone all motor with my LS1 T/A, adding the Vortech SC added 65 lbs over the nose of the car, affecting weight transfer and handling (already front heavy), if I were to go FI route I would do the twin turbo over the rear axle route (putting the weight added over the rear). LSX doesn't need Forced Induction, I've seen videos of 2018 Camaro's dynoing 500 with heads, cam and longtubes, that's plenty of power for the street.

    Are there really people that don’t know that a procharger is just a brand of a blower? It’s no different than any other centri supercharger. You just saying it’s kind of a turbo makes you sound ignorant honestly. Nice ride though!

    I keep going back to this video since it helped me pick the setup I wanted. Got the 50 state like you had on this car. I'm actually all modded out with my build making 675whp. I did a little more than you did but my real question is now that you have had both which one do you really like? I've driven a roots style and I like the torque hit late in the power than the instant. They both put you in the seat the same but that continual pull is everything to me.

      I was torn on a used 6th gen ZL1 vs an SS. It’s going to be a second vehicle for fun. I’ve built motors and supercharged hemis in the past, but I’ve decided I’m going to pick up a 16-18 SS manual and I’m going to pro charge it with this kit. 675whp is extremely good. What other mods did you do and is it on the stock block or did you upgrade the pistons/rods? I don’t want to build a motor again (Im not opposed to a cam or better heads I just don’t want to tear the bottom end apart and send it to a machine shop) I just want to slap on a kit like this and get good numbers at the wheels.

      @@DB22_2SS1LE thanks, it seems anything over 580whp on this platform requires the LT4 fueling system upgrade. I know a TON of guys on this platform run E85 or Methanol injection because the gains are great, but I really want to have my build be just straight 93 pump gas. I think the pro charger paired with better fueling and a custom tune I should be able to break 600whp.

    The Root's and similar style Superchargers sit in the valley between the heads. Some say that's not an ideal location for a blower because its sitting in a location where there's lots of heat. And the idea is to get the forced air in as cool as possible(cooler air is more dense). That's the purpose of the intercooler.
    So with a Roots style blower you may be partially defeating the purpose by its heat prone location. The Procharger's location off to the side is in a less heated area. The look of the Roots style installation looks symmetrical and neat, but from a scientific theoretical point of view the Procharger concept is more logical.
    Some install two smaller Procgargers. One for each bank of the V-8 but then you have more modifications to the intake system.
    Also some get the best of both a turbocharger and a supercharger by installing them together. I believe Volvo did some of their cars like that from the factory.

    No A procharger or super charger, are not the same even close to being turbo like, Like you said Turbos run off of Exhaust flow, Turbos have no engine power lost, A crank driven Procharger, some people say is a inefficient way to make power due to it takes your motor 20 Hp of the motor HP numbers , and Prochargers , also , put more lode , on a mother vs like Gm uses a intake style super charger in there c7 ZR1 cars couse a on top super charger, don't put much to non at all, Lode on a motor vs Turbos , But they wk really good, and make good power, But a turbo car gets faster up in the RPM range lests say 3400-6000 RPM as example, the more RPM, a turbo motors truns , the faster and harder, the exhaust gas will , spool truns that turbo. That's why when it comes to , Grudge Racing , 1/8 or 1/4 , mile race, a turbo car will cm around you, especially in the 1000ft and 1/4 mile race. Ok I gave Facts , still like how you went in to detail, on your set up. God Gm Ls Lt FTW 🙏🏾

    • @bettyg7710
      @bettyg7710 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      No power loss with turbo in exhaust! That’s bs. All super chargers have some sort of power loss to operate, they just produce so much power you don’t notice. So a wives tale is turbo chargers do not consume power but this is not true. A turbo in the exhaust has back pressure as a power loss. This is know as turbo lag. Any time you put a restriction in the exhaust you will get this but the power gain overrides this loss just as it does with supercharger or pro charger. You point is moot sir.
