FreeCAD namespace
The TechDraw workbench uses an XML namespace to draw the editable text fields on the screen. You need to create an attribute on the SVG tag called xmlns:freecad and set it value to: "www.freecadweb.org/wiki/index...."

I guess you left out were the templet can be found?
They can be found in the directory that you installed FreeCAD
