He switches out his guitar. They do a distraction, and Paul Stanley runs over to the side of the stage and his guitar tech switches guitars very quickly. The Guitar he smashes is just a shell of a guitar with nothing inside. The Bridge on the guitar he smashes is also precut about 3/4 through already at the head so it will break easy. If you go to the Kiss mini golf and museum located inside the Rio Hotel in Las Vegas they have a smashed guitar on display, and you can see how it was altered!
Well, Paul Stanley (guitar) and Gene (bass) share lead vocals on most of their songs. Some songs are done by one and some by the other. Peter (drums) and Ace (lead guitar) sing a few songs as well.
Love them. Been a part of the KISS Army since 1977. (I was 11 years old) Thanks for choosing these iconic artists. LOVE your reactions Maddy. Peace. Later.
Paul (Starchild) and Gene (Demon) shared vocals in the band, but Paul was considered the lead singer. Ace, lead guitar, had his main song, "Shock Me". Peter, drummer, had his songs, "Beth" and "Black Diamond". I saw KISS for the first time during their 1979 tour when I was 11. Definitely my favorite band. Also, that glass looking guitar wasn't destroyed. Paul always had specific guitars he destroyed at the end of KISS shows.
This brings back memories. I saw them twice on this tour. The day after this aired, I started college. They played a few songs that night. I really like the way New York Groove and Love Gun came out. 3:36 that was the image that made me put down the Strat and pick up the Les Paul. It just looks cool! And when Ace played a solo, you knew from the first couple of notes that it was him, even if you couldn't see him.
Not a big fan of kiss BUT no one can deny them their place in history of great bands! Energy, emotion and power along with some on the first power ballads has kept them on the forefront of Rock and roll since middle 70's! great job again by you and by KISS for creating a brand that jumps off the page and captures the audience!
KISS needed to write a rock anthem for their 3rd album to make their signature song.Gene Simmons (bassist) has a piece of a song called "Drive Me Wild" but needed a chorus.Gene & Paul *The Starchild* (co founder & main vocalist) put it together & came up with this song
I was there. Gone forever is the actual version where Gene screws up and keeps singing when Paul reminded the band at soundcheck that they were cutting the last chorus in half.
This was actually the first song they played that night because they had to time it with the end of the awards show. They played 4 more songs afterwards
Saw KISS twice in the 70's. First time was my 18th birthday, on Cape Cod, Mass. on the "Destroyer" tour, and epic event. Bob Seger and The Silver Bullet Band were the openers, before anyone in New England knew who they were. They got an encore, as an opener. KISS got THREE encores. Saw them in '79 on the "Dynasty" tour. Lots of eight year-olds with their parents, a totally different scene. But they did "Rock and Roll All Night and Party Every Day". LOL.
Correct! If you watch closely, he goes to the back of the stage to make the switch just before the end of the song! The junk guitar usually doesn't even have strings...It's also pre-cut, so he barely has to swing it, and it comes apart.
Paul switches to a cheap smash guitar for the ending of the song. They smashed one every show. I was in the front row in LA and the neck landed in my hands, but he crowd just landed on me like a wave crashing on the beach. Then it was an alligator death roll to hang on to it. I ended up losing it in the crowd.....hey but I caught it. From Paul to me.
If you want to really hear the lead singers voice check out "I still love you" from Kiss MTV Unplugged. Before losing his voice, Paul Stanley had one of rocks best voices that couldn't be matched. th-cam.com/video/3kgr2QgJ1lM/w-d-xo.html
Best live show ever hands down. Paul destroying his guitar is always part of the show. He usually smashes a plain black guitar not his studded versions
Welcome to KISS! They smash a guitar almost every show. If you go back and look at the video closely, he switches guitars and breaks a cheap one. He's smarter than that.
They all sing lead vocals. They are like the hard rock version of the Beatles. There catchy musical hits are sometimes overshadowed by there appearance.
TRUE, the guitar was expensive to begin with, but when Paul smashed it and gave the pieces out to the Audience, they became Priceless. This was THE Guitar used for this One Performance... which makes them so singular.
Gene who is singing this song is the Bass player. All four members sing certain songs but the rhythm guitarist Paul Stanley (with the star and spokesman) is the main singer. Paul does smash a guitar every show but it is a cheap guitar that he switches to. They have been smashing guitars for 50 years so it is not expensive guitars. This song is one of the best rock and roll anthems in rock music, always heard at parties, clubs etc
I was there during yhis show in 1996. They ARE the band you want to see live. Because Maddy Loves Bass you should watch the entire performance at this venue. Rob from Tampa - out.
Kiss is all about the live show. You haven't heard Kiss unless you have seen them live. I saw Kiss in the 170s, 80s and 90s. 5 total concerts. Every memember sing lead on at least one song. Techically Paul Stanley ( the guy doing all the talking ) is the lead singer. He is certainly the front man. This was during their reunion. The drummer ( Peter Criss ) and lead guitarist ( Ace Frehley ) were fired/left because drugs and/or alcohol issues in the early 80s and they got back together in the Mid 90s and toured for several years. My mom met a lifelong Kiss fan (a rockin' grandmama) at one of their concerts once. Never got to see them myself, but they seem to know how to put on a performance.
Saw them in '77 ( I was 16) and this re-union tour in '96 (took my 12yo nephew, his first concert). The original line-up is the only line-up that matters to me.
Another underrated band whose bass player sings is Nightranger. You'd love Dont tell me you love me. Its a great song. God bless you from Beaumont Texas.
The "crazy intro" you commented on, were all references to Gene Simmons (bass guitar). AKA The demon or The Dragon. In every concert, on certain songs, he will spit up blood, A LOT of blood (song: God of Thunder) and then breathes fire on (Song: Firehouse). You can check out videos of those.
I saw KiSS IN 1976....back then Gibson supplied guitars for Paul to smash in return for advertising. He used to smash one at every show. Kiss Knights in Satans Service had the best gimmicks of any band ever! The Kabuki Makeup and SuperHero costumes and characters they came up with. Hey Maddy, I really apologize that this comment has absolutely nothing to do with this KISS song or your review of it, but I wanted to offer you a new artist to review. It's your call, but I really believe you'll be glad you did. The musician is a young man of 15 or 16 years old named, Jonas Conner. There are 2 songs in particular that he has written and the storytelling and the power of the lyrics sound like something that would have been written by someone much older and wiser. They speak of tremendous emotional woundings from childhood, but reveal a faith in God for the healing of those wounds. The songs are entitled "Father in a Bible" and "Peace With Pain". I hope you enjoy them and that you will direct folks to his music. They'll be glad they did and Jonas is very deserving of it. His TH-cam channel is JonasConnerMusic. God bless Maddy!

Maddy, You talked about the Who. You should check out "Tommy" the movie. It has a lot of guest stars in it like Eric Clapton and Tina Turner as the acid queen.
Hey, Maddy. The term rock-n-roll means sex. Kiss wants you to party all night and every day with gusto. Don't be offended that the band broke their own gear. It's part of the show. You can blame THE WHO for starting the trend in their shows. Their performance of MY GENERAL ends with bang literally. It's kind of funny that you're making a fuss over an expensive glittery object being destroyed. How about some doul on the channel? The Temptations are always good for that. PAPA WAS A ROLLING STONE has the kind of bass you will love. CLOUD NINE, BALL OF CONFUSION, and SUPERSTAR (REMEMBER HOW YOU GOT WHERE YOU ARE.) are great songs, too. Keep going and enjoy the music.
Paul destroys an inexpensive Ibanez Iceman model, definitely not the expensive one. The model he destroyed was less than $500 at that time. Paul had boxes and boxes of those for the tour, all for destroying on the last song of the night. 💥
i hope your chickens sing to you rock-and-roll all night 1 day . paul has less expensive guitars he smashes. kiss fans sell the pieces ranging from 200-5000 . btw all kiss members sing. even the kiss groupie girls. so maddy if your gonna become a kiss groupie. practice singing

I've seen them Live, three times. Each time was with the original members; 1979, 1996, 2000.
KISS is the ultimate live performance band, their shows are epic.
I agree! No one puts on a rock spectacle like these legends. I miss them already☹
Love them. Been a part of the KISS Army since 1977. (I was 11 years old) Thanks for choosing these iconic artists. LOVE your reactions Maddy. Peace. Later.
Against the law to change the song or turn the volume down, we see all! 😎🤙🏼😉🤣🪖🎖️
Whenever I listen to KISS, Metallica, or Anthrax so do my neighbors.
The ONE and ONLY lineup. The original KISS. You should watch the whole set, they're really tight.
i have been a fan of this awesome group since 1978! and getting to see them live some years ago was a dream come true!
I was a 78 fan also at 12 years old.
Paul (Starchild) and Gene (Demon) shared vocals in the band, but Paul was considered the lead singer. Ace, lead guitar, had his main song, "Shock Me". I love how you are into the musicianship of the videos. And yes. I have a hard time seeing guitars broken too. LOL

This woman is one of the most beautiful people on the planet. Not tryin to sound creepy
I'm pretty sure that the guitars that Paul smashes at the end of shows are much cheaper versions of his VERY expensive custom designed guitars.
Correct! If you watch closely, he goes to the back of the stage to make the switch just before the end of the song! The junk guitar usually doesn't even have strings...It's also pre-cut, so he barely has to swing it, and it comes apart.
First saw them in 1975. Then in 2023. Still rockin!
The energy that this band has given me I can face the new week of work with the right charge, thanks MADDY 🌺

I met these guys several times, they were very gracious......love this Band since the beginning 💯💯💯💯

THERE IS ALOT OF KISS SONGS
THROUGH THE YEARS.
FROM 1974 TO 2024.
THEY ALWAYS PUT OUT A
GREAT SHOW.
Don't stress, the guitar Paul smashed is only a stage prop that gets smashed on every concert and then glued back together each time.
TRUE, the guitar was expensive to begin with, but when Paul smashed it and gave the pieces out to the Audience, they became Priceless. This was THE Guitar used for this One Performance... which makes them so singular.
If you watch it again he switched guitars to a black standard version to smash
Every time I see KISS now I think of Geddy and Alex from Rush talking about the after party.
Gene who is singing this song is the Bass player. All four members sing certain songs but the rhythm guitarist Paul Stanley (with the star and spokesman) is the main singer. HELL YEAH!! More KISS reactions please!! My boys!!
i seen them live a few years ago it was awesome
Gene does play bass and is the co-lead singer, Paul being the other, and rhythm guitarist.
Wonderful and amazing reaction Maddy!!! Great rockin song!! 🌹🌹❤️❤️❤️❤️
Lovely Maddy. Great group, great song.
Hi Maddy! My brothers used to have 7 or 8bof their albums. I used to listen to them all the time as a kid. They were my introduction to rock & roll
I was there during yhis show in 1996. They ARE the band you want to see live. Because Maddy Loves Bass you should watch the entire performance at this venue. Rob from Tampa - out.

Yes, of course. The tunes are just extra.
I was there ot was awesome too young to see the OG line up in make up so i needed to see this
I always screamed this song at work!! LMAO
Paul Stanley on guitar is the lead singer. The bass player, Gene Simmons, does sing a few of the songs as lead.
KISS awesome show, seen them live in concert 3 times yeah 🤘😆🤘🎸🎸🎤🥁🎸🔥🔥🔥

Yes Maddy, you’re correct. Gene Simmons is playing the base. Him and Paul Stanley on guitar, share lead singer positions.
❤ love Kiss and you are even more beautiful now that you’ve reviewed this 😊
FYI: All the original members sang lead, mostly Gene (bass) & Paul (rhythm guitar) but so did Ace (lead guitar) & Peter (drums) 👍

Oh wow!!

Wow!!
Rush- Limelight. Lead singer plays bass bongos synthesizer and features the best drummer ever!
that was the thing about Kiss they were all lead singers
Paul McCartney was the bassist for the Beatles
Saw them in 76, 85, 99 ( on their first farewell tour) and 2019 (on their second farewell tour).
Oh wow!!

Maddy, get ready to ROCK!! 😎
Maddy, Kiss has a really good song called "Beth." You should check it out.
Maddy it's the song girl it's not literal 😂

Oh yeah, and maybe someday someone will pay you to check out a live performance by Rush and you can see a vocalist playing virtuoso bass guitar.
KISS-going blind

It's kind of funny that you're making a fuss over an expensive glittery object being destroyed.
How about some doul on the channel? The Temptations are always good for that.
PAPA WAS A ROLLING STONE has the kind of bass you will love.
CLOUD NINE,
BALL OF CONFUSION,
and SUPERSTAR (REMEMBER HOW YOU GOT WHERE YOU ARE.) are great songs, too.
Keep going and enjoy the music.
Don't tell Paul McCartney he was playing a Bass Guitar
Paul destroys an inexpensive Ibanez Iceman model, definitely not the expensive one. The model he destroyed was less than $500 at that time. Paul had boxes and boxes of those for the tour, all for destroying on the last song of the night. 💥
Oooh
He did not break that guitar. It was swapped out.
Keep it simple, stupid is apparently what kiss is short for because they do not play complicated music
i hope your chickens sing to you rock-and-roll all night 1 day . paul has less expensive guitars he smashes. kiss fans sell the pieces ranging from 200-5000 . btw all kiss members sing. even the kiss groupie girls. so maddy if your gonna become a kiss groupie. practice singing
