      Wrong, they have no real excuse not to know. The Sergio Leone Spaghetti Western films are timeless. They do not age, and they will forever be relevant to the western genre. I'm sure most people, like me, came to know the Good The Bad and The Ugly by watching it on television, not at the box office.

      This was actually the last movie in the "Man With No Name" trilogy with Clint Eastwood teaming up with filmmaker Sergio Leone. It also had the biggest budget of the 3 movies by far. Leone wanted to continue making these movies with Eastwood, but Clint wanted to move on, although he had previously acted in the western TV series "Rawhide" and was to act in more westerns after that.

      It's actually the LAST of the spaghetti westerns Eastwood starred in. The climactic finale to Sergia Leone's "The Man With No Name" trilogy, preceded by "A Fistful of Dollars" and "For A Few Dollars More". Leone was also famous for making "Once Upon A Time In The West" with Charles Bronson and Henry Fonda and "Once Upon A time In America" with Robert DeNiro.

      The movie's climax takes place in a cemetery where a stash of gold is hidden in a grave - hence The Ecstasy of Gold - and the three main characters (the Good, the Bad and the Ugly) are all after it. The actual title of the song is “The Ecstacy of Gold”. It was the title song for the movie “The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.” The good the bad and the ugly were the 3 main characters that were semi working to find some stolen gold. The wah-wah girl is an excellent opera singer in her own right. Gotta watch the movie starring Clint Eastwood, Lee Van Cleef and Eli Wallach. The Italians loved westerns and when they started making their own they were called Spaghetti Westerns. Sergio Leone was a premier director and Ennio Morricone was the songwriter. The music was always top notch movie specific, none of that cheating out trying to wedge a popular song into the movie. This was one of a Trilogy that Eastwood did called The Man With No Name trilogy. The other two were A Fistful of Dollars and For A Few Dollars More.
    For a humorous Spaghetti Western watch the Trinity trilogy

    I have to echo many of the previous comments about the epic, iconic nature of these two pieces from The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly. Allow me to add that Ennio Morricone uses human voices extensively in many of his scores - whistling, chants, drones, etc.
    I had the opportunity to watch The Maestro at work on a film once. He whistled ideas for music themes into a tape recorder as he watched a cut of the film, then went off and worked his magic at home to come up with a complete score. He had one of the longest, most amazing careers in music ever.

    "The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly" is the last in a trilogy of movies directed by Sergio Leone and staring Clint Eastwood. The first movie, "A Fist Full Of Dollars" was a remake of Akira Kurosawa's, "Yojimbo". In this time frame westerns popularity had waned. But, there was a resurgence of the genre in Europe, specifically Italy. Dubbed, "Spaghetti Westerns", were mostly looked down upon in the U.S. This trilogy is arguably the best of them. Leone was a real visionary and had a real romanticized view of the American frontier. Eastwood wasn't interested, until he read the script, and as he was a fan of Kurasawa's work agreed to be, "The Man With No Name". And finally the amazing score by Ennio Moricone. This scene in the movie is beautiful. Not something you would see in an American movie, especially then. The movie is silent except for the score, and it's just a guy running through a graveyard...it's operatic...

    The song you reacted to in this clip was part of a concert performed by the DNS entitled "The Duel - Morricone Draws First". It featured several other compositions by Ennio Morricone (The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, For a fist of Dollars amd A few dollars more to name a few) as well as Bernard Herrmann, Nino Rota and Sonny Bono. All the songs were writtan for particular movies. The "hanged man" was a reference the Clint Eastwood movie "Hang "em High". The concert took place in 2018 and was conducted Sarah Hicks. The vocals were performed by Tuva Semmingsen (The "Wah wah" lady) & Christine Nonbo Andersen (The blond lady in the balcony). I heard this song while watching the movie in about 1968 when I saw the "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly" at a theater for the first time. 54 years is a long time for memories of a movie to stay fresh.

    • @davestang5454
      @davestang5454 ปีที่แล้ว

      Pretty sure that "the hanged man" is a reference to "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly" as "the hanging scam" carried out by "Blondie" and "Tuco" was a big part of the story. "The Ecstasy of Gold" theme deals with the climactic final scenes of the movie when "Tuco" is driven almost mad in his pursuit of the buried loot.

    • @davestang5454
      @davestang5454 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The hanged man is in reference to the plot of "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly", in which Blondie and Tuco ran a scam operation. Blondie turned in Tuco to the local sheriff of a town, collected the reward, waited for the day of Tuco's hanging and then helped Tuco to escape the execution. "Hang 'em High" is NOT a "spaghetti western and has nothing to do with the "Man With No Name" trilogy, "A Fist Full of Dollars", "For a Few Dollars More" and "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly", filmed in that order.
